The best feeling in the world is watching things finally fall into place after watching them fall apart for so long.

Nervous? Of course I'm not- yeah I'm crapping my pants right now. Not literally of course. But maybe I'm close. "Oh dear lord I'm gonna mess this up." I muttered as I dried my face after shaving. I honestly wasn't planning to but mum scolded me and threatened to do it herself.
"You'll be fine Luke. Jeez, I've never seen you this nervous in forever." I looked behind me from the reflection in the mirror to see my dad standing in the bathroom doorway. He was already in his tux, his hair combed back. I still had to get ready since my procrastination took a toll on me. I had to be at Maggie's by seven-thirty and it was already six fifty-one. Yes I am screwed.
Ignoring the last part of his comment I let out a sigh and turned around. "I need to get dressed and I have no idea where mum put my tux. She said she had it in my closet but I can't see it and I've been looking for awhile now." He chuckled and quirked an eyebrow. "I would look but I know it's no use. Watch, I'll call your mother, apparently all mums find everything." I nodded my head as he called out my mother's name. She came walking in with a peach gown flowing all the way down to her ankles, her feet resting in black heels that look like they're giving her a lot of pain due to how skinny the heel is. If she is in pain she doesn't show it, because right now as she puts on her earrings there's a smile plastered on her lightly coated face of make up.
"What's going on? Lucas you aren't dressed yet?" She asked as she took in my appearance. Right now I was in sweatpants and- well that's it. I have no shirt on.
"I can't find my tux." I replied. She sighed and walked inside my closet, literally coming out a second later with my tux in hand. "Now hurry up. You shouldn't keep a lady waiting. Are you ready to go Thomas?" He nodded and smirked as he walked up to her. "You look gorgeous honey." He murmured. Mum blushed and looked away, softly smacking his chest. I laughed and nodded my head.
"You look beautiful mum." She smiled and kissed my forehead. "Thank you. Alright well your father and I have to leave now but we'll see you there. Make sure you turn the lights off when you leave and lock the door. Oh, and be careful as you drive okay?" I nodded my head as I started buttoning the white shirt mum had picked out for me, starting to knit the bow tie right after. "Okay, I'll see both of you in a few." Both of them left as I continued getting ready. After doing the bow tie and sliding on my suit coat I changed into the pants and slid on my black dress shoes over my black long socks. Finally done with dressing up, I combed my hair quickly to the side before putting on cologne, ending it all with my watch.
I looked at myself in the mirror and let out a long shaky breath. "You better not make a fool of yourself Luke." I grabbed my wallet and my keys before turning off the lights just as mum told me- yes I'm an obedient momma's boy- and locked the door behind me as I walked outside towards my car. On the way to Maggie's house I texted her I'd be there soon as I stopped to buy some flowers. Well, here goes nothing.

"How are you not freaking out?" Sarah asked as we walked out of the salon. I got my nails dispone in a French tip and my hair done in an updo with a curl sticking out, a hair jewel n the back, along with my legs waxed. As we got in Sarah's car I made a mental note to never get a wax again. I shrugged as Sarah pulled out of the parking lot. "To be honest I haven't thought much about it."
It was silent for a few minutes before Sarah turned the radio up. Obviously what I said was a lie. My heart was about to fall out of my chest it was pounding so hard. I felt like a giddy chihuahua to be honest and I wouldn't be surprised if I peed in Sarah's car right now. But then again I refrained myself from doing so since she'd kick me out of her car. While driving full speed.
"Okay the second we get home I want you to run upstairs- not literally since you can mess up your hair- and put the dress on. I'm gonna get the make up out while you do so and after you finish sit at your vanity, your back facing the mirror." Sarah instructed over the music. I nodded and did exactly as told when she pulled up in the driveway. Mom was cooking in the kitchen as I walked past it and dad was in his office doing some paperwork. He sent me a smile as I passed his office and I returned it, going upstairs. As I got in my room I stopped to check on Graham. He was sleeping in his crib peacefully and I smiled, brushing his hair back. Unfortunately mom and Sarah didn't let me bring him along because of my stitches.
Would he fit in my purse?
"Maggie! What'd I say?!" I jumped and sheepishly walked past Sarah into my room as she whisper yelled at me. She walked in my bathroom as I got the dress out that mom gave me. I admired it as I pulled it out from it's jacket thingy.
It was long and red with lace patterns on it. It all went straight down, flowing at the end and there was a slit on the right side- well my left once I put it on. I stripped my clothes off and readjusted my strapless bra, since it had the crazy idea of running low just a little. Slowly I stepped into the dress and pulled it up, sliding my arms through the short sleeve holes. After I zipped it up I looked in the mirror and gasped. Holy smokes it was glamorous.
The dress clung to my sides, showing off curves I had no idea existed on my body and- woah. Since when did I have a butt?! The slit made my legs look longer, and for the first time in my life I didn't feel short. As I saw my reflection everything hit me and I started to panic.
I'm going on a date. With Luke. This is my first date in a year!
"Oh honey, you look amazing." I looked at the doorway to my room to see my mom standing there with a grin. "It fits you better than me. I don't know if I should be jealous or just admire your beauty." I laughed as she grabbed my wrist and sat me down on the vanity chair, my back facing the mirror. I started to feel uncomfortable as I noticed my leg from the slit. "Isn't this a bit revealing?" I squeaked out. Mom rolled her eyes and placed her hands on her hips. "Maggie I love you but to be honest you dress like a prude. Your wardrobe is nice but once in awhile you gotta show what you have. Let loose for one night." I raised my eyebrows in shock just as Sarah came out with everything she needed. "Good, your hair is still in place. Now close your eyes and let me do my magic."

"Maggie if you move one more time I will poke your eye out on purpose with the eyebrow tweezers." I froze as Sarah threatened me. She was currently doing my eyeliner and I have to admit the cold liquid had me squirming. "Aaand done! Now for your mascara and lipstick." I opened my eyes as Sarah applied mascara on my lashes and slightly parten my lips as she added red lipstick on them.
She stepped back beside mom and both of them grinned as they looked at me. I raised my eyebrows and smiled nervously. "Can I look?" Sarah turned me to face the mirror and I gasped. "Sarah, when did you learn to do this?" I gaped at her outstanding work, not believing my reflection.
"I'm the winged eyeliner queen bee." She replied. I nodded my head in agreement as mom left to get some stuff. She came back a minute later with a small cubed box, a long rectangle one, and another shorter rectangular box. Holding all of the stuff on it's surface was a shoe box.
"Put all of this on." She instructed. I opened the first box to reveal a pair of diamond earrings. "Oh my God. Mom I can't wear these! I might lose them, or worse-"
"Put on the earrings Maggie and STOP complaining." She interrupted. I reluctantly put on the beautiful earrings, trying really hard not to protest further as she also gave me a diamond choker necklace, and two silver bracelets. After I put everything on she handed Sarah a silver clutch. Sarah put everything I would need in it after spraying some perfume on me. Mom smiled as she gave me the shoe box.
"I made sure to give you low heels since you hate walking in long ones." She assured me. I gave her a thankful smile as I opened the box, revealing a pair of silver strappy heels. These were also beautiful, and since they were open I silently thanked God that my God nailed were French tipped too. I slid them on and stood up, receiving the clutch from Sarah. She squealed as she looked me over again and clapped, probably the girlies gesture I have ever seen from her.
"Can I see Graham now?" I asked.
"No." mom and Sarah answered simultaneously and I poured as the lead me out of the room. I secretly grabbed the baby monitor and stuck in in my clutched since it was about the size of a tiny walkie talkie.
As I walked halfway down the stairs the doorbell rang and I froze. Crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap. I turned around and rushed back upstairs, suddenly whizzing out. I tapped my fingers against my thigh as I walked back and forth, trying to calm myself down.
"Maggie." I turned around to see dad. He had a smile on his face as he looked at me. "You look stunning honey. Luke is here." He stated. I smiled and sighed. "Yeah I know, but right now I'm really freaking out." He chuckled and squeezed my shoulder. "You're gonna do absolutely fine. I want you to go to that party and just focus on yourself. Don't worry about Graham, we'll watch him closely. This night is all about you." I nodded slowly and sighed. "I should really get down there before I get us late." I said. My dad nodded then just before I went down the first step he stopped me by grabbing my elbow.
"Oh, and hand the monitor over." I groaned and opened my clutch, hang it to him. He smiled before heading downstairs. I took one last breath and started walking down the steps. As I made it down the carpet covered steps I couldn't help but gape at Luke as he stood talking to Sarah and mom, his hands behind his back. The tux he was wearing fit him perfectly, and his usually shaggy hair was combed neatly to the side, and my goodness it took everything in my not to let out a contented sigh as I stared at his face.
Before you jump into conclusions I'm just staring at what the night has to offer.
Sarah grinned when she spotted me and cleared her throat. "Nice for you to join us." She teased. Luke looked up at me and suddenly his eyes go wide and he's frozen. I blushed as his eyes took in my appearance and started to wonder if I had something on my face since that's where his gaze lingered the most. After what seemed like forever the silence was broken. Except it wasn't Luke who spoke neither was it me. No, the one who decided to speak their mind was dad.
"So are you planning on telling my daughter she looks absolutely beautiful and giving her those flowers behind your back or will you just stare at her until I cover her up with a blanket?" I gasped as Luke blinked out of his trance and nudged my dad's arm with the clutch.
"Dad! Don't be rude." I squeaked, heat rushing up to my cheeks. Luke chuckled and revealed the bouquet of roses from behind his back. "It's okay, he has a point. You look absolutely beautiful Maggie." He said. A shiver went down my spine as he spoke and by now my face was probably the same shade as the dress I was wearing.
"Thank you. You look handsome." He grinned as my mom left with the flowers to go put her in a vase. "I'll make sure to have her back before it gets late sir." Luke said as he faced dad. He nodded and patted his shoulder. "I trust you. Keep your eyes on the road instead of my daughter though as you drive. I don't want her in the hospital again." Luke blushed as I widened my eyes, looking at my dad and silently pleading him to stop.
"Shall we?" I asked, trying to get myself out of this situation. Luke nodded with a smirk, knowing my intentions. He grabbed my hand and we both started to walk outside, but then Sarah decided to stop me.
"Here." She said, handing me a pair of fabric scissors. I frowned and looked up at her. "Why are you giving me scissors?" I asked. She smirked and leaned closer to whisper her answer. "Just in case someone is wearing the same dress as you." She snapped the scissors in the air twice before giving it to me. I gasped and returned them.
"I'm not going to cut someone else's dress Sarah." She shrugged and let out a sigh. "Party pooper. Alright, now go have fun." I nodded and said goodbye to everyone after giving them instructions for Graham, despite their groans as they repeatedly told me they had everything under control.
Hey, a mother has to make sure.
"You really do look gorgeous Maggie. Had it not been for your dad we'd still be standing in there." Luke grinned at me as we got in his car and I blushed, thanking God once again for the darkness so he wouldn't notice. I smiled slightly and looked out the window as he pulled out from the side of the road, starting our way to the party.
"We don't have to stay long if you don't want to. Usually after dinner my dad gives a small thank you to everyone for coming and he dances a few songs with my mom before we leave." I nodded my head and smiled. "I don't mind." He grinned and reached over the console, grabbing my hand in his. I blushed for the billionth time today and a smile found its way to my face as I looked back out the window.
I honestly hope he can't hear my heart pounding.
