《The End》Part 3: Compelled

Elena and Rosa were hiding behind a wall as they waited for Damon to return. Elena was holding a dart in her hand, but Rosalina didn't even bother to ask how she got that. Suddenly Damon walked through the door.
"Finally! I called you an hour ago!" Elena shouted as he walked into the room.
"Make yourself presentable. I know where Stefan's going to be tonight." He said. Elena sighed and looked behind the wall at her sister.
"Look we have a problem." Elena said. Damon looked at her and then behind the wall to see Rosalina silent, tears in her eyes. "She heard Klaus talking about Stefan killing people." She whispered quietly.
"Easy, I'll just compel her." Damon said.
"I don't know if that's a good idea. It doesn't feel right to keep doing that to her, plus she's wearing her necklace." Elena said.
"So get her to take it off and then let me do my thing."
"Fine." Elena turned to her sister and showed a kind smile. "Rosa, can I borrow your necklace." Rosalina just stared at her sister still in shock.
"Just rip it off." Elena shook her head, but did it anyway. Damon then placed his hands on Rosa's shoulders and began to compel her. "You don't remember anything about Stefan killing people. All you remember is that you and Elena had to hide while Stefan and Klaus came to his apartment." He looked at Rosa who no longer seemed to be in shock.
"Where's my necklace?" She asked.
"Here, the clip broke, but I fixed it." Elena said as she handed the necklace back to her sister.
"Thanks." Rosa mumbled.
"Ok back to tonight. Go pick out a dress and let's go." He said.
"I told you I was practically discovered by Klaus and you're worried about what I'm wearing?" Elena asked.
"Wait do you know who that other guy was?" Rosa asked.
"I had an hour to realize what a bad idea it was to leave you here alone, process it, and move on. Are you okay?" Damon asked ignoring Rosalina.
"Yeah." Elena responded.
"Ok, good. Get dressed. You're all road trippy and gross." Damon told her. "You too." He pointed at Rosa.
"So you know where he's going to be?" Elena asked.
"Yes so we'll distract Klaus and you deal with Stefan."
"Ok. Thank you." Elena replied.
Damon leaned closer to Elena so Rosa couldn't hear them and said, "But you're going to have about five minutes tops before that hybrid freak rips my heart out. So please, tell me you can do this."
"I can do this." Elena responded.
✰
"Elena why are we hiding again?" Rosalina asked as they hid behind a car.
"Just wait, alright." Elena told her sister.
Damon and Stefan were taking or more like shouting at each other, but Rosa couldn't see them.
"What is wrong with you?" They heard Stefan shout.
"What is wrong with you? You kill Andie one day, you save my life the next. What are you good, bad? Pick one!" Damon shouted in return. Rosa's eyes went wide and she stared at her sister who sighed.

"Klaus almost saw Elena today. You have to get her out of Chicago."
"She's not going anywhere until she's got you checked into vampire rehab and on the mend. Trust me. I've tried." Rosa shut her eyes and listened closely, forcing herself not to cry.
"She is the key to everything. Klaus can't know that she's alive."
"What are you talking about?" Damon asked.
"She was supposed to die in the sacrifice and she didn't. Now Klaus can't create any new hybrids. His witch is seconds away from figuring that out. Tell Elena to go home and forget about me." Rosa stared at Elena, not knowing if she should scream or cry or both. All she knew was that either her entire life has been a lie, or she was going crazy.
"Tell her yourself." Damon said. Elena stood up and her and Stefan locked eyes. "Come on lesser twin, let's go. I've gotta compel you again." Damon mumbled the last part.
Rosa stood up slowly, tears were in her eyes and she made sure not to make contact with Stefan. Rosa followed Damon into the bar where they saw a man sitting there.
"Last call. Drink 'em up!" A woman said.
"I see they've opened the doors to the riff-raff now." The man from earlier said.
"Oh, honey, I've been called worse." Damon replied. He then turned to Rosa who was still holding back her tears. "Go sit, don't do anything else and don't talk."
Rosa followed his orders and sat down in a chair near the bar. Klaus watched, seeming amused by Damon and the girl. Rosa sat down, tears fell from her eyes and she couldn't say anything.
"You don't give up, do you?" The man asked.
"Give me my brother back...you'll never have to see me again." Damon told him.
"Well, I am torn. You see, I promised Stefan I wouldn't let you die, but how many freebies did I really sign up for? And clearly you want to die, otherwise you wouldn't be here, so..."
"What can I say? I'm a thrill-seeker." Damon said with a smirk on his face.
Suddenly Klaus extended his hand and grabbed Damon's throat. "Oh, dear, what was that? I'm boozey, so you'll forgive me if I miss your heart the first few tries."
Klaus stabbed Damon in the stomach with a toothpick. Rosa shut her eyes as Damon grunted in pain.
"Ohh! No, that's not it. Hmm." Klaus continues to stab Damon as he grunts in pain with each stab. "Ohh. Almost." Klaus angled the toothpick towards Damon's heart.
"You want a partner in crime? Forget Stefan. I'm so much more fun." Damon said.
Suddenly Klaus threw Damon backwards making Damon crash on top of a table, breaking it. He lands on the ground facing up. Klaus then walked over to Damon and tore a leg of a chair off and crouched over Damon.
"You won't be any fun after you're dead." Klaus said. He was about to stake Damon when suddenly Rosa screamed.

"Stop!" She screamed making Klaus turn to face her. He smirked.
"Really Damon, you couldn't even properly compel the girl." Rosa stepped back from the two and Damon sighed. "Who is this, Damon?" He asked letting Damon go.
"That is Rosalina Gilbert." He said, out of breath. Klaus looked at Damon and then to Rosa, intrigued.
"Gilbert?"
"Yup, good old Gilbert genes produced twins." He said. "Oh shoot, I forgot to take of the necklace." Damon mumbled to himself, irritated.
"You are Elena's twin?" Klaus asked. Rosa backed away slowly, tears in her eyes.
"She doesn't know about vampires." Damon added.
"Oh well, it's always a good time to learn." Klaus said softly. Rosa shook her head, tears falling down her cheek. Klaus stepped closer to Rosa and wiped a tear of her cheek.
"Please...please don't hurt me." She whispered, as that was the most Rosa's voice would let out.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. I won't." Klaus told her in a soft voice. Damon watched confused from the back. "I'll even let you go."
"Thank you." Rosalina mumbled.
"No problem, love." He said.
✰
They were all sitting in Damon's car now. Rosa was freshly compelled. Elena and Damon sat mostly in silence.
"You ok?" He asked.
"Just drive." Elena responded. Rosa could tell her sister was upset, but she was still angry with her from earlier in Stefan's apartment.
✰
The next day Rosa was sitting on the couch watch TV while Damon and Elena were apparently cooking.
"I just don't know why you want to bring chili to a potluck. Everybody brings chili." Damon said to Elena. Alaric then came into the kitchen. "Hey Ric."
"What's up?"
"What time do you want to go to the Lockwood party?" Elena asked.
"Never." Rosalina said from her spot on the couch.
"Ah. Those founders parties aren't really my thing." He answered.
"Show up, there's going to be nine other people that brought chili."
"It's an old family recipe, ok?" Elena said. Rosa rolled her eyes.
"Yeah! I know. I knew your old family. They made sucky chili." Elena slapped Damon the arm.
"Rosa's right there." She said. Damon shrugged.
"She doesn't seem to care." He said.
"Why are you here, exactly?" Alaric asked.
"She knows." Damon responded.
"He thinks I'm going to break. I'm not going to break. I am just going to keep making chili, pretend like I didn't just spend the entire summer looking for someone who didn't want to be found."
"She's in denial."
"Definitely in denial." Rosa added from her spot on the couch.
"I'm not in denial." Elena said, mostly to Damon.
"No?" He asked stepping closer to Elena. Touching her necklace. "You're still wearing this necklace. Isn't this the reminder of your unbreakable bond with Stefan?"
Alaric and Rosa watched them curiously before Alaric turned to Rosa. "Hey Rosa, finish that history report yet?" He asked.
"I was just going to go ask you for an extension. I was dragged to Chicago yesterday so I didn't really have time to finish." She told him. Alaric sighed.
"Rosa, I already gave you a week extension. How much have you done so far?"
"I wrote like...a paragraph. You gave me a really hard topic." She told him.
"I gave you Columbus. All you have to do is write an essay on Columbus." Rosalina sighed.
"Ok, give me a few more days and I'll get it done."
"Fine."
✰
A while later Elena and Rosa were sitting on the couch. Elena was reading and Rosa was drawing. The doorbell rings and Elena opens it to see Caroline holding a bowl of food.
"I come bearing gifts." She said.
"Please say it's not chili." Rosa laughed quietly. Caroline stepped aside to reveal Bonnie. "Bonnie!" Elena shrieked. Rosa rolled her eyes at her sisters excitement.
"I'm back!" Bonnie said. The two hug each other for a while. "I leave town for the summer and everything goes to hell for the both of you." Caroline and Elena looked at each other and then Jeremy came downstairs.
"Bonnie!"
"Jeremy!"
They ran up to each other and kiss which turned into a long embrace.
"The problem with my dad's normal side of the family is normal made for a really boring summer." Bonnie said as her, Elena and Caroline sat at the counter in the kitchen.
"After the last few days, I would kill for a normal family." Caroline commented. "Since when did you learn how to cook?" She asked Elena.
"Damon helped a little." Elena said with a shrug.
"Damon's helping you cook now?" Bonnie asked.
"Both of you stop judging. He's just trying to be good...ow!" Rosa turned to her sister who shouted in pain.
"Ahh, did I splash you?" Caroline asked.
"No, no, my necklace." Elena said. Rosa studied her sister and then the necklace, unsure of how it could have hurt her. Elena pulled the necklace off of her skin to reveal a burn mark on where the necklace used to be. "It burned me."
"Maybe it's a sign you shouldn't be wearing it." Caroline said.
"I agree." Rosa added, but no one listened to her. Like always.
"Caroline..." Bonnie started.
"What, I'm just saying. If you're going to be "cooking" without Stefan."
"Let me see it." Bonnie said interrupting Caroline. Rosa watched as Elena held the necklace up in front of Bonnie. She carefully reached out to touch the necklace, but it zapped her and sparks flew out. Elena dropped the necklace and looks at it, shocked.
"What just happened?" Rosalina asked, surprised.
