《The End》Part 10: Werewolf Bite

"There it is!" Elena said excitedly as the group entered the Fells family crypt. Rosalina got chills as they walked through the squeaky door.
"This is creepy, even for us." Bonnie said.
"Agreed." Rosa added.
"No, Caroline was right...technically, she's dead. Sorry. But you don't need a birthday, you need a funeral. You need to say goodbye to your old life, so that you could move on with your new one." Elena said. Rosa rolled her eyes. She knew that if she were in Caroline's position this would be the last thing she wanted, but Rosa decided not to say anything because of the smile on Caroline's face.
"Ok. Here lies Caroline Forbes." She started. As Elena put candles on the birthday cake she decided to add on.
"Cheerleader, Miss Mystic Falls, third grade hopscotch champion—"
"Friend, daughter, overachiever—" Bonnie added.
"Mean girl, sometimes, no offense." Matt said.
"Ah, none taken." Caroline told them with a big smile on her face. He wasn't wrong. Rosa used to hate Caroline sometimes, just because of her awful attitude, but the past year she's changed. She was never mean to Rosa, but now Rosa didn't think it was possible for Caroline to be that mean.
"She was 17, and she had a really good life. So Rest In Peace, so that she can move forward." Elena said while holding up the cake towards Caroline's face. "That's what you really need. What we all really need. Amen, or cheers or whatever. Bonnie?" Everyone turned to Bonnie who used her powers to light the candles. Rosa smiled softly. This was the first good thing she'd seen about the supernatural. "Nice! Ok, make a wish." Caroline closed her eyes and blew out the candles.
After about an hour everyone was stuffing there faces with cake and drinking the tequila. Matt had taken the bottle from Bonnie and was about to drink when Elena snatched it from him.
"Ah-ah. I need it more than you do, trust me. Caroline, what are you doing?" Everyone turned to Caroline who was staring intently at her phone.
"What? Nothing." She answered. Caroline stopped texting and put her hands over her phone.
"Ok, you're a bad sober liar. You're an even worse drunk liar." Elena said. Rosa rolled her eyes. Elena was not the right person to talk about lying.
"I might have texted Tyler." Caroline admitted.
"Caroline..."
"Shut up, Elena." Rosa mumbled, but only Matt and Bonnie heard her.
"What, I'm delicate." Caroline said.
"Give her a break. You can't control what everyone does all the time." Bonnie said angrily. Rosa smiled at Bonnie for a moment, but stopped when an awkward silence invaded.
"Wow." Elena muttered to herself.
"Ouch, Bon." Matt added. Of course Matt took Elena's side even though Bonnie was right, Rosa thought.
"Sorry, I know it's Caroline's birthday, funeral or whatever but, I just feel it's really wrong that you compelled Jeremy to leave town." Bonnie told them.
"Me too. How could you do that to him?" Rosa asked her sister.
"I'm doing it to protect him. I want to give him a chance to have a quiet normal life." Rosa scoffed at her sisters defense and Bonnie didn't seem to be buying it either.

"He should be able to choose how he wants to live it, you're taking his choices away." Rosa looked down at the floor. She could only imagine how many times she had been compelled because Elena thought it would protect her.
"Bonnie, you can't tell him." Elena told her.
"Why? Are you gonna compel me not to?" She asked.
"Hey don't worry about it. She's probably done it to me like a hundred times." Rosa added angrily. Elena looked at her sister, almost ashamed. Rosa was right, Elena had had Damon or Stefan compel her tons of times and never thought about it twice.
"You know, you guys are ruining a perfect funeral." Matt said which made all three girls role there eyes.
"I'm sorry. I'm just gonna go sleep it off or something. Happy birthday." She told Caroline before leaving. Rosa sighed. She wanted to leave too. She was all for celebrating her new friends birthday, but right now she did not want to be near Elena.
After a while of awkward chats and drinking the rest of the tequila Rosa decided to leave. She just couldn't take being near Elena right now. So after promising she wouldn't drive and she'd go straight home, Elena "allowed" her sister to leave.

Rosa was sitting on the couch watching TV when she got a call from Matt. She didn't even know he had her number, but she answered. Tyler bit Caroline and now she's slowly dying or whatever and they needed her to come. Of course Rosa came as fast as she could, she still couldn't drive so she had to walk or run.
"Oh my god. Is she ok? Can I talk to her?" Rosa asked as she walked into the Forbes house.
"I mean, right now it's not looking good, but we hopefully have a way to fix it." Matt answered her. Rosalina could tell how much this was stressing him out and how much Matt cares for Caroline even if they aren't dating anymore. It made her realize that maybe he did love her, just like he did Elena.
"That's good." She mumbled. Rosa walked into Caroline's room and sunk. She saw her friend laying in the bed, looking pale and sick. "Hey, are you ok?"
"What do you think?" She mumbled. Rosa nodded and sat on the edge of Caroline's bed. "Sorry, I'm emotional."
"It's ok? So what happened?" Rosa asked.
"Stupid Tyler bit me because stupid Klaus told him to." She explained. Rosa sighed. She had always liked Caroline and Tyler together, but this was probably the end of that relationship. And she wasn't surprised about the Klaus part, but why Caroline? Why bite her and not someone else?
"I'm so sorry." Caroline smiled slightly. "What?"
"I'm glad we're friends. You know I've always wanted to be your friend, but you never really liked me." She told her, laughing slightly.
"I'm glad we're friends too. Also, I've always wanted to be friends with you. You were always my favorite out of all the people Elena was friends with."
"That makes sense." Caroline added.
"You're gonna be ok." Rosa reassured her.

"Hey, even if I'm not. At least I made it to 18...sort of." She said. Rosa smiled at her friend, but really it was just to stop her from crying. She finally made a friend and now she was going to die. Why did Caroline have to die? She never deserved to become a vampire, but she definitely doesn't deserve to die for good.
Suddenly they hear a creek by the door and the girls turn to see Klaus leaning in the doorway. He walked closer, brushing Rosa's arm.
"Are you going to kill me?" She asked weakly. Rosa was about to get up, but Caroline held onto her arm. Rosa could see the fear in her friends eyes and sat back down. She didn't want to be near Klaus, she hated him and he scared her, but she wasn't going to leave Klaus and Caroline alone.
"On your birthday? You really think that low of me?" Klaus asked.
"Yes." Caroline and Rosa answered in unison.
Klaus carefully examined Caroline's bite. Rosa wanted to lean out of the way, but Caroline wouldn't allow it meaning Klaus was sitting right next to her.
"That looks bad. My apologies, you're what's known as collateral damage. It's nothing personal." He said. Rosa rolled her eyes, a gesture Klaus didn't miss. He touched Caroline's bracelet. "I love birthdays."
"Yeah. Aren't you like...a billion or something?" Caroline asked, not really looking for an answer.
"Well you have to adjust your perception of time when you become a vampire, Caroline. Celebrate the fact that you're no longer bound by trivial human conventions. You're free." He told her.
"No, I'm dying." Klaus moved closer to Caroline and leaned down to whisper something to her.
"And I could let you die, if that's what you want. If you really believe your existence has no meaning. I thought about it myself, once or twice over the centuries, truth will be told. But I'll let you in on a little secret. There is a whole world out there, waiting for you. Great cities and art and music, genuine beauty. And you can have all of it. You can have a thousand more birthdays. All you have to do is ask." He told her.
"I don't wanna die." She mumbled.
Klaus lifted up Caroline's head and offered her his wrist. "There you go, sweetheart. Have at it." He said softly. His eyes met Rosa's and smirked at her. Caroline bit him which made Rosa look away. She still wasn't used to all this. After that was over he got up. "Happy birthday Caroline." He said before leaving. Rosa watched as he left and quickly rushed after him. Klaus turned around with a smirk on his face like he was expecting her to follow him. "Hello, Rosalina." He said.
"Thank you...for saving her." She said softly.
"Of course. I'm not a total monster." He said. Rosa wanted to argue, but decided it was best not too. He leaned closer to Rosa so they were only inches apart. "I know you heard what I said to Caroline." He said softly.
"Yeah, so?"
"That offer wasn't just for her. Aren't you bored of this human life? You could be so much more." He told her.
"What? You want to turn me into a vampire?" She asked, almost disgusted at the thought. She backed away from Klaus. She could never become a vampire. Her family would grow old without her, she would have to drink human blood, she'd be a monster.
"Don't worry, love, it was just a suggestion. No one is making you do anything." He said.
"Well, thanks for the offer, but I have to get home. My family is probably wondering where I am." She said while walking out the door. Klaus followed after her.
"Don't lie to yourself, love." He said. Rosa wanted to slap him or do something to him at least, but she couldn't. She couldn't risk dying. She continued to walk away and Klaus continued to walk next to her. "I'm sorry, that was rude. Where are you going?"
"Home." She answered.
"You're walking?"
"I can't drive, I was drinking." She told him. Rosa really didn't feel like sharing everything with Klaus right now...or ever.
"Let me walk you home, at least." He offered.
"Do I have a choice?"
"Good answer." He said and walked next to Rosa. Rosa sighed and continued to walk home. "So, tell me about yourself, Rosalina."
"Fine, since you probably won't take no for an answer. I don't go by Rosalina, I like Rosa." She said.
"Ah, Rosa. That's pretty." He mumbled to himself. "But I quite like Rosalina."
"Then why ask?" Rosa muttered under her breath. Klaus smirked which made Rosa's face turn red.
"Tell me something else."
"There's nothing else to tell." Rosa said.
"I don't believe that. Tell me about your family." He said. Rosa glared at him for a moment before talking.
"Well my parents, are dead. But I guess before they died they were nice, just hard you know. They were both doctors and Elena's gonna be a doctor so she was always kind of the favorite and Jeremy was the baby that had time to fix himself. I was just the mistake. The one that got screwed up somehow." Rosa laughed slightly to mask her pain, but Klaus obviously noticed. "Sorry, you did not need that much information." She mumbled.
"It's ok. I didn't have a great relationship with my parents either."
"No, I loved my parents and they loved me, I just always felt like I was less in their eyes...compared to Elena." She said.
"I couldn't imagine anyone thinking you were less." He told her.
"Well you need a bigger imagination then, because most people do." She said adding another laugh. "Ok well, we're here. Thanks...I guess."
"No problem. I'll see you tomorrow, Rosalina." Klaus said before walking off. Rosa smiled softly, a blush forming on her face. She should not be blushing. Klaus Mikaelson is a monster, he is not someone for Rosa to like.
