《The End》Part 24: The spell

"I can't believe Elena is a vampire now." Rosa said to her brother. Jeremy nodded. Neither of them had slept all night. They were waiting for Stefan and Damon to finish talking to her before they could go up.
"I know. In the span of two days I now have two vampire siblings."
Rosa sighed, "Can't Elena ever let me be special for once?" She joked, but Jeremy could tell by the tears in her eyes, that Rosa was trying to find the good in this situation. But that wasn't Rosa.
"It's gonna be okay." Jeremy told his sister and placed his arm over her shoulder.
Rosa shook her head, and sniffled, "No it's not. It was one thing for Klaus to turn me, but...but Elena should never have had this happen to her."
"Come on, let's go see her." Rosa nodded and her and Jeremy walked upstairs to Elena's room.
When they got to her room, they saw Elena looking down at a lightbulb. She turned around. "Jer! Rosa!" Elena ran up to her siblings, pulling them into a hug.
"Are you okay? I watched Vicki go through this, she was a mess. Her emotions were all over the place. All these memories came flooding back." Rosa looked down. Not memories, compulsion. She wished that everyone had cared this much when she was turned only yesterday.
Elena looks down at the lightbulb, "I'm fine. I'm not Vicki."
"No, you're not. You're you. You act like everything's okay so no one worries about you but you need help."
Suddenly Elena snaps, "I said I'm fine, okay? I—I'm sorry, I...have you talked to Bonnie?"
"Yeah, she said when I was shot; she made some plea to the witch spirits to bring me back and they listened."
Rosa tilted her head in confusion, "What?"
"Yeah, but the consequences were horrible."
Jeremy looked at his sisters and sighed, "And what could be more horrible than you and Rosa turning into vampires? I need my sisters, not more of them." Rosa looked down at the floor.
She then looked at Elena and smiled, "Jeremy's right. It's to late for me, but you haven't finished the transition yet. If anyone can figure out how to fix this, it's Bonnie."
Elena nodded. "We're gonna find a way out of this. Everything's going to be okay."
"I hope so." Jeremy responded.
Jeremy then leaves and Elena rushes towards the lightbulb in the lamp and pulls it out, crushing it in her hand.
Elena turned around to see a Rosa still leaning in the doorway. Elena wiped off the shards of glass on her pants and but her lip.
"I'm so sorry, Lena." Elena smiled at her sister and pulled her in for another hug. "This shouldn't be happening to you."
"Rosa, stop, please. You can't feel sorry for me. You were only turned yesterday." Rosa shrugged and rubbed her eyes.
She smiled, "Just remember, that if you do end up being a vampire, you will forever be one day older than me in human years or days or whatever. But I'll always be older as a vampire." Elena shook her head and chuckled softly.
"Is that really what your thinking about?"
"Hey, just be happy I'm doing math."
—
Caroline was about to leave her house when her phone rings. Rosa was waiting outside. Caroline had invited Rosa over forgetting her mom wasn't home, therefore, Rosa couldn't be invited in.

"Mom, hey." Caroline said as she answered the phone.
Rosa listened in to the phone. She hated that she thought it was cool that she could do this now with her hearing. "Caroline where are you? And tell me it's far away."
"Where am I? Uh...good question. Uh...there's just a whole lot of boring highways. Why, is everything okay?" Rosa raised her eyebrow at the lie, but Caroline shushed her.
Caroline exited the house. Rosa handed Caroline the key and Caroline was about to lock the door when two officers come up behind them and stab shots of vervain into their necks.
—
When the girls woke up they were sitting in a black van being escorted by the police. Rosa looks at Caroline who seems to have woken up a little before her.
Rosa gasps I'm pain as she looks down at the ropes. Suddenly Rebekah wakes up and looks down at her wrists as well.
"Vervain ropes. Looks like Alaric outed us all to the Council." Rosa frowned. Alaric hadn't even known about Rosa until after. At least she didn't think he did.
"The Council? What exactly do they think they can do to me?" Suddenly the wheels of the van start to screech. The van flips over and Rosa gives Caroline a concern look, but she doesn't know what's going on either.
The girls go flying as the van lands on its side. The girls are in shock, but no major injuries. "What just happened?" Rosa asks her friend. Caroline shakes her head and looks around confused.
"What the hell happened?" Rebekah asks.
Suddenly the back door of the van breaks off and they see Tyler standing there. "Tyler." Caroline asks in shock.
"I'm harder to kill than you think." He rips off Caroline's vervain ropes and then looks at Rosa. He rips off hers as well. "No time. Come on, we've got to go."
Rosa looked back at Rebekah, "Wait, what about me?"
Rosa shook her head. "Tyler, leave her. She's the reason Elena's a vampire now." Rosa said before following Caroline out of the van.
Caroline suddenly super speeds Tyler to a tree and is about to kiss him when he stops her. Rosa looks confused. She didn't want to see Tyler and Caroline make out against a tree, but that usually didn't stop them.
"I never thought I'd see you again! I don't get it. How are you alive?"
Tyler looks at Rosa, "This is going to sound strange, love..." He continued to look at Rosa which confused both girls.
"Caroline." Rosa said softly.
"Wait, did you just call me love?" Caroline asked.
Rosa backed up slightly, pulling Caroline back with her. "I don't know, love. Did I?"
Caroline steps in front of Rosa, "What the hell did you do to Tyler?" Caroline asks angrily as she pushes Tyler or Klaus against a tree.
"You girls are so smart. So much more than pretty faces." Caroline and Rosa look at each other.
"Oh my god, you're Klaus. You're disgusting!" Caroline shouted. Suddenly Rosa ran up to Klaus and pushed him harder against the tree.
She stared at him angrily, "That's for my sister who's now a vampire!" She then pushed him against the tree again, "And that's for me!"
"Look, I didn't have to risk exposure to come and save you both."

Rosa and Caroline scoff, "Oh, you do one semi-decent thing and now you're my hero?"
"Newsflash, this charade won't last long and when it ends, you'll be dead...or suffering somewhere where you can never escape." Rosa told him.
Caroline screamed, "Put Tyler back!"
"Gladly." Klaus says and then begins to walk away.
The girls follow, confused. "This doesn't exactly look like a lot of body swapping is going on." Rosa pointed out.
"I need Bonnie to put me back." Rosa and Caroline froze and turned to each other. Caroline sighed and continued to follow after Klaus. "So, Rosalina, how is vampirism treating you?"
"Go to hell." Klaus chuckled and continued to walk.
—
When the three enter the house they see Bonnie and Jeremy. "Jer!" Rosa shouts and runs up to her brother, hugging him.
"She said she's not strong enough." Jeremy told them after he and Rosa parted their hug. Jeremy was already positioned in front of his sister as if he could protect her. Not that it mattered. Klaus had already killed her...and turned her.
Klaus shook his head, "You were strong enough to put me in here. Surely, you're strong enough to get me out."
"I upset the spirits trying to save Elena. I can't use that kind of magic again. It's to dangerous."
Klaus became angry, "Bonnie, so the bloody spell!"
"She said she can't okay?" Caroline said. Klaus looks at Caroline, "We'll just wait a few days until you're strong enough to do it with traditional magic, right Bonnie."
Rosa looks at Bonnie and then to Caroline. "Caroline." Rosa says softly as she reaches for the blondes hand.
Suddenly Klaus rips open Tyler's shirt and extends his claws on his right hand. He punctures his chest and grabs Tyler's heart and begins to rip it out.
"Klaus stop!" Rosa shouted.
"What are you doing?" Caroline asked in a panic.
Klaus looked at Caroline and then Bonnie, "Ripping Tyler's heart out. I'll jump into someone else." He then turns to Jeremy. "Maybe you."
He continues to tear out Tyler's heart and Rosa walks towards him. He stops and looks at the girl. "Don't do this." She whispers.
"Oh my god!" Bonnie shouted.
"You're hurting him! Stop! Stop!" Caroline shouted.
Rosa looked back at Caroline who was crying and then back at Klaus. "Klaus, please stop. If you truly care about me like you claim, you won't do this."
Rosa could see that she made an impact, but it wasn't strong enough. "He's bluffing. He needs a witch to do that." Jeremy said.
The anger in Klaus' eyes returned. "What makes you think I don't have one? Or ten? Pick, Bonnie. You or Tyler!" Klaus screamed and Rosa walked back to her friends and brother.
He's now almost completely torn out Tyler's heart, "Stop, please! You're killing him!"
"Fine, I'll do it! Just stop!" Bonnie tells him.
Klaus takes his hand out of Tyler's chest, "Good. Let's begin." Rosa let's out a sigh of relief and leans her head against Jeremy's arm.
—
Bonnie is performing the spell. Her hands were on the sides of Tyler's head. Rosa stood between Jeremy and Caroline, holding both of their hands. They all wore worried expressions.
"Phasmatos Tribum, Nas Ex Veras, Raverus En Phasmatos Ex Sonos. Resistamus Et Veram Vatus. Raverus Phasmatos Ex Sonos." Bonnie repeated as she did the spell.
Jeremy sighed, "This is black magic. She shouldn't be doing this." Jeremy tells them.
Suddenly Tyler's eyes open and he looks up. "Tyler?" Caroline asks.
"Caroline. Hey." The smile on Tyler's face made everything worth it.
Tyler tried to stand up, but falls. "Tyler?" Caroline rushes to his side while Bonnie continues to chant.
"Bonnie, what are you doing?" Jeremy asks as he walks closer to the witch. Bonnie stops chanting and look at something. "Bonnie, it worked. Stop."
"What's happening? Let me go!" Bonnie screamed. Rosa looked at her friend confused.
"Bonnie?" Rosa said concerned.
"Let me go!" She screamed again.
Caroline look up at Bonnie, "Bonnie, what's happening?"
Dark veins began to creep down Bonnie's arm and appear from her arm as well. "Okay, let her go!" Bonnie shouts and everyone watches both scared and confused. "I'm sorry, Grams! They can't do this to you! Please, don't do this to her!"
"Bonnie, stop!" Caroline and Rosa shout in unison.
"No! No! Oh my God!" She screamed. Suddenly Bonnie down to her knees, crying. Jeremy gets down next to her and tries to comfort her. "What have I done? What did it do? What did I do? What did I do?" Bonnie repeated while crying.
—
Rosa was sitting in the living room drinking a blood bag. Elena had turned. She was currently sitting on roof with Stefan.
Rosa wondered if Klaus was going to come for her. He turned her for more that leverage. If he was telling the truth about all the others being in his sire line than he really didn't need her.
Klaus wanted her to come with him, wherever he was going. She wondered if it was only for Elena. Now he no longer needed Elena he had no reason to bring her along, right.
All Rosa knew was that she wasn't going anywhere with him. Rosa picked up her journal and began to write.
Dear Jenna,
So it turns out, sometimes death isn't the end. Sometimes you can't really die. You come back.
It's been a while since I wrote to you and you've definitely missed a lot. Alaric died...then came back as an evoke vampire who wanted to kill all other vampires, but he's dead officially. Also, I'm a vampire. I know, of all people, why turn the girl who doesn't want to live.
Klaus Mikaelson turned me. I know this sounds terrible considering he killed you, but according to him, he's in love with me.
I've been thinking about what would have happened if you and mom and dad were still alive. Would you still have loved me? I hope so. Maybe you would have had to because Elena's a vampire too, now. She was turned only one day after me. What are the odds.
At least Jeremy's still normal. Kind of. Except for the whole talking to ghosts. I wonder if he can talk to you. I should ask him.
Well that's it for now. I love you.
Love,
Your favorite niece, Rosa.

Moonshot
Gregarious businessman Evin Tumble is fascinated by the sudden and inexplicable appearance of a low-orbiting moon. Specifically, he's interested in shooting it down with a giant cannon. The moon is only about eight miles overhead, but it's high enough and quick enough that nobody can reach it by balloon or airship. He hires our protagonists: taciturn Iseult Morrin, cheerful Sean Whelan, and nervous Íde Ceallaigh, to help him with his obsession. As our heroes are dispersed across the continent to perform tasks for Tumble, and the moon-hunt draws closer, they become increasingly suspicious of their benefactor's motives and true nature. Moonshot is a story centred around struggling with confidence, the difficulty of being an immigrant, and the duality of truth, all clad in the trappings of an urban fantasy. It is character-driven, from the heart, and based on tropes and ideas that are missing from a lot of contemporary fantasy (a push beyond the flawless-yet-somehow-still-needs-rescuing-by-an-oafish-man heroine trope, a touch of cosmic magic based on the shared geometries of Celtic and Arab art).
