《The End》Part 38: Burned

Rosa stared at her phone and sighed. She had called Jeremy like a hundred times and he hadn't answered once.
She heard the door next to her open and then close. The smile on her face grew wider as she ran to his door.
She walks over to Jeremy's room to find him laying there. Elena holding his hand and Stefan looks sad. Really sad. And Jeremy looks dead. Really dead.
No words come out. But her presence is noted. "Rosa..." Stefan says quietly.
Rosa ignores him and walks towards her brother. She listens for a heartbeat, but hears nothing. She looks at Elena and her stupidly hopeful face. She wants to ask what happened, but doesn't.
Rosa turns back to Stefan, but instead walks past him. Stefan follows Rosa as she walks to her room and grabs her hand.
"Rosa...just talk to me."
Rosa rips her hand away from Stefan and shuts the door to her room. She sits on her bed and lets out a shaky breath and turns off her phone.
—
Meredith and Elena are in Jeremy's room. Elena's not ready. Rosa isn't ready, but she knows it's true. Her brothers dead.
When Rosa finally walks back into the room she sees Elena comforting Matt. "Do you really think he'll wake up?" She asks softly.
Elena looks at Rosa, "Yeah." She says nodding her head. "Me and Matt are gonna go. Call me when he does."
Rosa nodded and watched as Elena and Matt left. Stefan and Meredith looked at her concerned, but she just stared at Jeremy. Meredith was covering his face with a blanket.
She walks out of Jeremy's room, into her own and grabs her notebook.
Dear Jenna,
I really thought I was done with this, but I'm not. Jeremy is dead. My brother is dead. My favorite person in the entire world is dead. He's dead and I don't know what to do. I need to talk to someone but I can't. I just want to talk to you and you aren't here. You're not here. Jeremy's dead. Elena's the only one left. Out of everyone, she's the only one left. Jeremy is dead and I want to cry. I just want to cry. I wish you were here to help me. What do I do? I need to cry because Jeremy's dead. He's dead and he's not coming back. Jeremy is dead and I can't even remember the last thing I said to him. I don't think I even told him goodbye or that I loved him before I left. And Elena has this stupid hope that he's going to wake up, but he won't. He's actually dead. And I have to live the rest of my infinite life missing him and I don't know what to do. What do I do? I need you to tell me what to do?" Please.
Love,
Rosa
Rosa shut her notebook and threw it against her wall. She stood up and walked out of the room. And back into Jeremy's.

She stared at him as her hand rested on his. She looked at her phone to see one missed call from Klaus, about a thousand texts from Caroline even though she was in the house and one text from Elena. She shut it off again and sighed.
"Please wake up." She whispered so softly she wasn't even sure it came out of her mouth.
Rosa could hear yelling and worrying downstairs. Bonnie was here, but she wasn't okay. She wasn't right. Of course she wasn't. Rosa took a deep breath and continued to think of Jeremy.
She tried to think of the last thing she said to him. But she couldn't. Rosa hated that she couldn't even remember her last memory of Jeremy.
After a little while Elena walks into the room and walks straight to Jeremy. Rosa looks at her sister. Elena slightly pulls the cover off of Jeremy's face. There it is.
Jeremy's dead face. Rosa gets up and looks away. She looks at Elena who's trembling. She backs away slowly, out of the room. Rosa takes one last look at Jeremy before following her.
"Elena..." Damon says from the doorway.
She crying. "He's dead. He's dead. Damon, he's dead, and he's been dead this entire time, and I—" She looks back at Jeremy, her hand covering her mouth, "Oh, my god. I can smell him. How long has he smelled like that?"
Rosa looked at Jeremy. She could feel it. She was going to cry, but she can't. She refused to cry. Not yet.
"Hey, talk to me. I can help you." Damon told her softly.
Elena looked at him, "How? How are you gonna help me? How?" Elena looks at Rosa and then back to Damon, "Okay. Okay. We—we have to—we have to take care of his body. Bring him downstairs."
"We shouldn't—"
"Just carry him down, please." Elena leaves and walks downstairs.
Damon looks at Rosa and sighs. "You okay?" He asks her. Rosa looks up at Damon almost surprised, but nods. "It's okay if you're not."
Rosa forced a small smile and took a deep breath to keep her as calm as she could be.
"Don't be numb. There's a lot of people who care about you and are worried about you." Rosa nods again. "I may not be one of those people.." He sighs, "Fine, maybe I am. So, cry...or eat someone."
Rosa stared straight at Damon and he sighs before walking into Jeremy's room. Rosa releases her breath and walks downstairs.
"Put his body on the couch." Elena says as Damon walks down the stairs behind Rosa.
"Elena? Elena, you need help finding something?" Caroline asks.
Elena takes a bottle of lighter fluid out of the cabinet and squirting it all over the counter. "Got it." She says. Rosa watches her confused.
"What are you doing?" Stefan asks.
Elena continues to pour the lighter fluid everywhere. "We need a cover story, right? You think I didn't hear you guys talking earlier? Well, what are we gonna say—animal attack, tumbled down the stairs? No. We burn the house down with him inside of it." Elena makes her way to the living room and pours the liquid on the couch.

"No. Elena, stop." Rosa says to quietly for anyone to hear. Her heartbeat picks up.
"Elena, stop it." Stefan says.
Elena looks at him. She's crazy is all Rosa can think. "Why? Because you want me to not be in denial? You want me to face the truth? This is the truth, Stefan. I don't want to live here anymore. I don't want these sketches." Elena says as she sprays them with the lighter fluid. Rosa looks around anxiously. Everything. She wants to burn everything. "I don't want this Xbox." She throws down the bottle and reaches into the cabinet. Rosa steps forward and looks at Stefan to do something. "Not gonna need this bourbon anymore. Alarics not here to drink it, I mean, unless you guys are willing to bring back every supernatural creature on the other side to get him back. Would you?" She asks turning to Damon. "I know you want your drinking buddy back. Would you, Damon? Because I wouldn't."
She walks over to Jeremy's body and pours the bourbon over him. Rosa looks down and sniffles.
"I don't know, I mean, does that make me a bad person? I—I have not idea." Elena pulls the Gilbert ring off of Jeremy's finger and tosses it to Damon. "He's not gonna need that anymore."
"Elena...stop." Rosa says softly. Elena doesn't even look at her sister.
"Elena, stop it. You're scaring me!" Caroline shouts.
Elena takes down a picture from the mantle frame over the fireplace. Rosa walks closer to her but is stopped by Stefan.
"What else are we supposed to do with the body, Caroline? I mean, there's no—there's no room in the Gilbert family plot." She throws the frame in the ground. Rosa watches as it cracks. She looks at Stefan who shakes his head at her.
She gets it. Don't make any sudden movements. Like a wild animal. Don't make Elena attack. She will. But Rosa can't take it. Elena is going to burn down her home and no one's doing anything and Stefan won't let her do anything.
"Jenna and—John took the last spots." She throws the empty bottle against the wall and it shatters into millions of pieces.
She grabs a match and lights it. "No, Elena. Please—please don't." Rosa shouts to her sister.
"No, no, Elena. Stop." Stefan says, still holding Rosa back.
Elena begins to scream, "There's nothing here for me anymore, Stefan. Every inch of this house is filled with memories of the people that I love that have died—my mom, my dad, Jeremy, and Jenna and Alaric, John, even John. I mean, they're all dead. Everyone is dead. So what am I supposed to—I mean, how am I gonna—I can't even—there's nothing left for me—aah!" She cries.
Rosa just wants to hug her. To remind her that she's still here and alive. That Elena's not alone. But she can't.
The flame let's out and Elena has to drop the match that started to burn her hand, but Damon speeds over and catches it before it could light anything.
"Elena, I need you to calm down."
"No, no, no, I can't. I can't. I can't. I—" watches her sister in pain. Elena falls to her knees, sobbing. She grabs her head and cries. Rosa turns her body away from Elena and forced her head into Stefan's arm.
"Damon...help her." Stefan says calmly.
Rosa turns back to see Damon crouch down in front of her. "I—I—" She can't do anything except cry.
"I can help you. I want you to let me help you." Damon softly touches Elena's face as she shudders slightly. Damon tries to bring her closer to him, but she tries to pull away. "I can help you."
"How?"
"Turn it off." Rosa looks at Damon and then to Stefan.
Stefan walks forward, "What? No, no."
Damon holds up his hand to stop Stefan. He looks at Rosa who he can tell is about to cry. He holds her hand as she stares, numb.
"Just turn it off, and everything will go away. That's what you have to do. Just turn it off."
Rosa can feel herself drowning. And endless death. Elena's painful expression quickly becomes emotionless. The fear and sadness in her eyes is gone. She's gone.
—
They all leave. Caroline goes home. Bonnie and Matt leave. Stefan and Damon are waiting outside. Rosa stands completely still. Unable to move. Nothing. She feels nothing. She stared at Jeremy's dead body.
Nothing.
"Elena, don't do this. We can find another cover story." She hears Damon's voice.
Elena's voice is calm now. The pains gone. "This is the best one. No one'll ask questions." She tells them.
Slowly Rosa lifts her eyes from Jeremy to Elena.
"Look, if you burn down the house, it'll be gone. What if one day when this is all over, you want to come home again?" Stefan asks.
"I won't." She tells them.
Elena drops the match and the entire floor ignites in the flame. "No!" Rosa screams. "No! No! No!" She continues to cry out. Stefan forces Rosa out of the house as she cries.
Rosa watches as her entire house burns in the bright flame. Everything. Jeremy. Her room. Her clothes. Her pictures. Klaus's dress. Her notebook. Jenna's letters. Jenna's jewelry box. Jenna's necklace. Her memories. Everything is burning.
Everything.
"No!" She screams again as she falls to the floor. "No." It was more of a cry now. Stefan meets Rosa on the floor and holds her steady. "He—he's dead. She burned...everything. She burned it all. Everything was in there. Jenna's stuff was in there. All my pictures and notes. Everything. She burned it." Rosa continued to cry. "She burned it all."

The Empty Valley Cries Unheard
The stories can be read at any order. Phew, this story was finally finished at last! What could I say, it was a hell of a ride when I wrote it from the beginning to end. Thanks for having me on RR :D All the current chapter had already done a run on Grammarly, so hopefully it'd be more readable. ...kinda feeling lazy so calling off the edits for now. A couple of old / new attempts of combining Horror, Comedy and Absurdist elements. I'm not very good at writing Horror stories but I'd like to try once in a while. Although the first chapter may be completely screwed up, believe me--I mostly write fluffy gay scenes between two girls. It would PROBABLY become a lot lighter as we moved up the chapter count. Not for the faint of heart, but if you're like me who like some absurd or nonsensical stories, this might be right up your alley. Sorry in advance if some of the chapters seem normal lol additional tags : nonsense / absurd / parody

Modern Magic
A Modern Magician BookI looked up at the crooked holo sign while the perfectly bred woman read from a paper, a plastic smile glued to her face.'Welcome to The City,' she said in a fake voice. 'Once formerly known as New York, The City is a place filled with ancient and modern wonders. Remember, if you see any magicians please report to the nearest police station or Black Hand officer.'I smiled at the sign and then raised a single finger. No, not the middle one. A blue misty light spun from my finger and into the holo device. The message quickly changed from the fake woman to one of my own.'Welcome to The City,' the woman read, her hair now dyed a fuchsia. Her eyelids were a dark blue and her bottom lip and right eyebrow were pierced. 'A special message from Hecate, queen of magic.' The woman looked up at me, a smirk playing on her lips. 'Welcome to my city.'
