How to raise a Hive Queen
This story is about a newborn Hive Queen, which gets raised in an unexpected environment. The first part of the story will focus on her development and the challenges that come with it. Eventually she will start to produce her own swarm of hive creatures. The species of the Hive Queen is called the Sylv and they are a insectoid species with an hive mind. The Sylv can evolve themselves through extracting traits from other non Sylv creatures. This is limited to modify the basic set of creatures the Sylv can produce, they are not able to create completely new creatures. In this regard they are more like ants, who have workers, soldiers and queen ants. The Sylv live underground in so called hive complexes and use living structures in them to produce more of their kind. The Hive Queen is the leader of a Sylv Hive and responsible for evolving the swarm. This novel takes place in a fantasy setting and was inspired by other hive species like the Zerg from "Starcraft" made by Blizzard Entertainment, the Arachnea from "Her majesty's swarm" published on j-novel club, and the Vex from "I don't want to be the Hive Queen" by ValetheHowl. I really enjoy stories with an organic hive mind species and want to contribute myself. The focus and theme of this story will change as the Hive Queen matures and defines the goals she wants to achieve. Through events that you will need to read and discover yourself, sixteen year old Enru ends up vital to the survival of humanity, but can she succeed? In a world full of humans, dragons, giant intelligent spiders, trogs, behemoths lurking in the deep, magic, politics (can’t forget the politics) and more, what wonders await you? NOTE: This is my very first attempt at writing ever. Not just my first attempt I am showing people or my first attempt that went anywhere, but my first of any kind. I welcome constructive critisism and I know my grammar is not always the best. If something is majorly bothering you please leave a good comment or review on it rather than just a 0.5 rating and saying I suck. NOTE2: The main character will be gaining power that is, if used correctly, well above the standard for her race however I plan to implement it in such a way that she does not end up being crazy over powered and able to end every fight at her whim. She will struggle, she will lose sometimes and there will be loss along her journey to save her race. There will be no harem and I am unsure if there will be any sex scenes or even romance as this is my first story and I am not confident yet at being able to write that properly. So if you came here for the standard royalroad super OP guy that flies around having sex with every female character he meets, this is not that. Update Frequency: As this is my first story and I am still in the early stages, I cannot say how often updates will be. I lead a very busy life and this is a new way for me to relieve stress. Whispers from the dark
During the dark times, the humans and elves decided to work together to defeat the Fiend. A high king among the humans was chosen, together with his archmage he defeated the Fiend. A few years of peace, until the high king lost it. He was convinced that the mages would steal the crown and take over his world. Scared as he was, he decided to hunt down everyone with magical abilities. Elves retreated to the safety of their forests and mountains, forever remaining a mystery to the humans. Many non-magical humans agreed to this plan of their lord, for they were also afraid that the mages would take advantage of their weaknesses. The mages tried to survive. The archmage, who was the former counsellor of the last king and protector of the royal family, protested. He wanted to solve this problem through politics. But nothing helped, and the archmage fled. The king got two sons, one was born a mage, and the other human. The king despised his mage son and banished him. His younger brother became the heir of the throne. Anger grew in the mage prince. He thought war was the only solution to this problem. Consumed by the will to gain power, he searched for followers who would fight the humans in order to stop the hunt on mages. The archmage tried to stop this evil plan of the prince. But the mages split in two groups. The necromancers, followers of the evil prince, who studied the crafts of the dark magic to terrorise their enemies and gain back the throne. And the sorcerers, followers of the archmage, who tried to peacefully restore the trust between humans and mages. But nobody knew the danger that was gaining back his power in the underground world. The archmage disappeared and a darkness swept over the world. Human, elves, mages, every creature awaited in fear the day the darkness would take back his control. Faelwen, a young woman, was put in the middle of this chaos. Even though her only priority was to survive. Hunted down by humans and evil beasts, who can she trust? And what whispers from the dark will reveal the secrets from the archmage?
