Gregory's POV
Hours passed and night was creeping upon us—mother and father talked among themselves and walked around the houses touching almost everything, asking questions about modern things. So far I learned about microwaves, ovens, stoves and toasters....four different things that all cook food. There was also something called a toaster oven?honestly it all sounded like rubbish. There was a fridge and freezer than kept food cold and fresh.
Carter (like always) was being extremely kind and answering every single question with sincerity and poise. Me—on the other hand was completely annoyed at their constant question asking and wanted it all to end, I just wanted to enjoy this moment next to Carter without hearing my mother making dramatic nosies every time she pressed a button on some type of machinery.
Rudolf, Anna and tony came racing down the stairs talking over eachother about what they did in Tony's room. While we were having educational time about kitchen equipment, Anna and rudolf were learning about video games, YouTube, fans that hang from the ceiling ( like how?) and stuffed animals. So all in all we all learned a lot of useful things besides where the amulet is.
"Children" father broke the overlapping talking "it's about time to head out searching for the night"
The group of us huddled around the large map cater and tony 'printed' for us. We were able to cross out certain areas of the map such as buildings that were newly constructed and areas that we searched constantly for the last 300 years. Now we actually had a plan on where to search and where to avoid. It was brilliant.
After giving everyone else their coordinates Carter and i were left Alone
"Soo..." she began covering her face and laughing
"So—" I started at her and ran my fingers through her hair, making her blush more

The more she blushed the more I wanted to grab her throat and slam her against the wall and make her scream out my name....calm down Gregory. Not yet. Soon. But not yet, patience is key here
"I'm happy we finally have some time alone, you know to talk"
"Hmm" I said and ran my thump down to her plump lips, spreading them and letting them go "I am too, even though my dreams were very satisfying I wanted the real thing"
Carter smirked and nuzzled her cheek into my open hand, her eyes meeting mine and not daring to blink. Her eyes were memorizing, brining me closer and closer—looking into them made me feel better. As if my body wasn't rejecting blood and my organs weren't shutting down rapidly.
"I just don't understand" Carter said finally shifting her position
"Understand what exactly" I raise my eyebrow "baby doll you have to be specify"
"Well, everything. The dreams mostly. How every since the graveyard I've been completely connected to you. And why you're getting sick when feeding" she reaches up and places her hand on meg forehead "you were fine cold
The first time we met, now you're warm" I could see the worried look on her face
"I'll be fine" I try to assure her "besides, when I'm with you—when we touch I feel healthy, as If nothing is wrong" I grab her hand bring it to my mouth, kissing it softly "your smell is intoxicating"
"Do you believe in soul mates" her angelic voice asks
"I'm not entirely sure what that means" I spoke truthfully
"It means we're meant for each other. You know, like we're connected by a higher force. I never really believed in it but I also didn't believe in vampires"
I shrugged my shoulders and kisses her hand again—then her wrist—sucking gently. Controlling myself with inhuman strength

"I wish I could taste you" I told her as I inhale her scent "that night I met you, I swear I never tasted anything so amazing in my 300 years"
There were a few moments of quiet until Carter jerked her hand away from me
"Oh my god" she whispered to herself
"Calm down I'm not going to bite you" I rolled my eyes annoyed
"I have an idea" she stood up and ran to the kitchen looking through random drawers
I go follow her
"Can you tell me what you're doing" I was irritated why she pulled away
"I just thought of something" she tells me while digging through the drawer
"Which is??" I grab her to face me
"Stop it's important" she pulls away again and continues digging "I'm the last blood you had before you got sick. Then we saw each other in our dreams. Our dreams were real. Now you said I tasted the best" she stammered as she pulled out a small knife
"Uh—-cater" I begin but she cuts me off again
"You see Gregory were destined to be together. It's me—I mean it's my blood" she looks at me, her eyes gleaming
"What? No Carter"
"Yes Gregory. We have to try" Carter said and before I knew what she was doing she cut the healing scar from her fall in the grave yard.
I couldn't help but look at the red liquid—the smell hit me like a freight train. I needed it...wanted it
I grab her wrist with one hand and her face with the other, forcing her to look at me
"You're crazy" I tell her and smile "I love it"
I look at the blood again and bring the sweet red liquid to my lips
And lick
I waited...waited the acid burn in my throat. Or the bile coming up from my empty stomach, but it never came. Instead it tasted amazing
I went back, sucking her blood from her like an animal—Carter was right—were bound to eachother in ways we would never understand but I didn't care. I knew she would always be mine now

A Nation of Distances (possibly a dystopian love story)
Michael lives in a toxic macho world with extreme male hierarchy. When he gets a weird rating that makes his place even more problematic he's forced to choose a fiancée at a Wife School, and he slowly discovers more about the other side of the great divide between the sexes in The Nation. If only the world would stop being so complicated... On the other side there's Megan, who's more interested in books than in marriage, and the unpredictable Eliza who seems to have a connection with Micheal already. Will they be able to cross the distance and become friends against all the rules of their own world, or will they just be crushed? Are positive relationships between men and women even possible? And is there a way to change the world or is that just a naive thought of a silly wimp? 'A Nation of Distances' is a slightly dystopian dialogue-heavy drama set in a low sci-fi future setting about the war between the sexes, disconnect and friendship. The genre will fluctuate in between more slice-of-life parts and soft sci-fi drama with possible romantic elements, with alternating lead and switching perspectives once more of the main characters are established. Content Warning: Certain concepts and scenes might be disturbing and/or triggering to some, even though the story itself won't be extremely heavy most of the time. Sexism as a double-edged sword destructive to both sexes is an important part of the story, but so is friendship.Note that all descriptions of persons and places are purely fictional and made up by the writer, and any resemblance with anything in the real world is a coincidence, since the real world is not supposed to be dystopian anyway!
