《The Nerd that turned out to be Vampire-ish [Wattys2015]》CHAPTER 43: The twin.

Marianne gestured for us to sit back. Then she poured tea on both our cups and to hers as well. Her shaking hands were also fairly obvious.
And I thought I was nervous. Our host has definitely defeated me on that scale, in so many levels.
"She's Vicky and I'm Tris." Tristan told her our code names which is too close to our real ones, and he said it with a pro-like British accent. I was holding out my laughter, but Kayla obviously did not. She and Jonas were laughing so hard on the other line.
"Well I'm not really the official secretary. I'm just here for the meantime, till my twin sister comes back on her trip with the queen." She said and stuttered a bit.
"So that's why she looks a tad bit different." Kayla said. Now that I think of it, she does have lighter hair than the one on the picture, also a bit chubbier.
"And I'm not really a people's person. Because I work mostly in the lab. Like a rat in the sewer." She stopped and wiped a sweat. "So yeah. I'm talking gibberish again. So, what is your concern again my dears?"
I elbowed Tristan. He looked at me and I gave him a stare that somewhat means, say something idiot.
"My sister had an allergic reaction to the supplement." He simply said and pointed at me. Mentally I am rolling my eyes like the ballpoint of my pen.
I mean come on, how could I pull that off. Kayla didn't put on prosthetic makeup on my face to look like I'm swelling. Or I could just find a random bee and sting myself.
"She's lost her voice because of all the coughing, also she had a fever few days ago. And as you can see, she's a bit paler than normal." Tristan said, and more likely changed my role into a mute on this play. Kayla simply laughed.

"Nice save Tris! Now we can surely ace this mission, without Vicky probably messing things up." Don said and laughed. I gritted my teeth in reply.
"Oh dear. I'm sorry." Marianne said and panic was written all over her face. "I really am. I'm very sure our products are safe for everyone. And this is the first case I've heard of an allergic reaction."
"But, were not entirely sure. She might have eaten something that's caused it." Tristan took back what he said. For she might hold us in for examination or something. And again, I'm trying so hard not to laugh.
"Hold it in for three more minutes' guys." Kayla said. "Keith had just entered the room, and is now inserting the flash drive."
"Then you should have gone to the doctor." Marianne said, and safe to say there's no ounce of suspicion on her face. "I'll get my cellphone in my office wait here. I'll call a doctor."
"Stop her. Keith is still there." Kayla said or more like commanded us.
Tristan grabbed her hand as she's about to stand up. "Uhm. It's fine." He said, and Marianne then eased back on her seat. "The main reason why we're here, actually, is to know the ingredients you put on the supplement aside from blood, of course." He paused. "Well, if it is okay for you to tell us. My sister's allergic to anything peanut."
I rose an eyebrow. I honestly have no idea what peanut reaction looks like, or does the symptoms he told her results to the one I have.
Marianne seemed like she's contemplating something in her head, then she smiled. "Our ingredients is highly confidential. But I assure you, there's no peanut extract in there." She said and I can see in her eyes, a glint of doubt when she inspected me.

We are so dead. If she knew what peanut reaction looks like.
Tristan nodded and so did I. "Well, is that all there is?" Marianne asked us.
"Not yet. I need one more minute." Kayla said on the other line. "I'm almost done."
"Uhm. Well now that we know it's safe. Then we'd like to purchase a new one. For I accidentally threw hers. So she's not taking anything now, and she doesn't want blood either." He said with a very convincing act, even I would fall for that lie.
"Poor girl. You must be very diligent on your diet." She told me with pity eyes, and I can't tell if it was genuine or fake. I just nodded to her anyway. "Okay. I'll go get one. It's one of our newest samples with a brand new packaging as well."
"Is it okay?" Tristan asked, though his question was probably directed to Kayla.
"Yes." Kayla simply said. "We're done."
"Of course. Wait here for a sec." Marianne said and left the room.
Wow. I didn't know it would be this easy, or was it just my role? I feel like I'm the one slicing the cake while Tristan did all the baking.

What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
