《Lombardi - Finn Shelby》Luca Changretta

Today I decided to visit Michael. Ever since him and John got shot I barely saw him, so went and visited him.
I strolled through the hospital keeping the basket close. I quickly placed the basket of food in front of him and sat down.
"Hello Michael. How have you been?" I asked him whilst he was busily looking through sheets of paper.
"Been better Rose." he responded not taking his eyes off the sheets.
Wow he's great company, I traveled far to get here. Well maybe not that far, but I'm dramatic like that.
A nurse came and placed what she was holding next to me. I think it was tea or food.
"What are you doing?" Michael asked standing up as she grabbed his bag.
"What the fuck?" I said getting up as well. She pushed him roughly and whacked me round the head with the heavy black bag.
Wow it's a great time for my head isn't it. Constant headaches and now a whack on the head with a bag.
Michael fell to the door and I went to help him up.
"Are you okay?" I asked taking his arm.
"Oh, shit." he groaned in pain. I helped him on to the bed steadily whilst footsteps echoed through the hallway.
I turned to see a man at the door, Luca...
"Where I'm from, a hat on the bed. Unlucky." he said and I pushed the hat off the bed in a hurry.
"My family," Luca said walking toward us. "Our family," he said looking at me and Michael picked it up and looked at me in confusion.
"Is near Pinkstone. Maybe, maybe that's what happened. Last time my men were sent for you, you got lucky." he said taking out his gun and I felt my heartbeat increase.
"Now...." He pointed it at Michaels head. "Your lucks ran out." He fired the gun but nothing happened.
He stepped away from Michael and me walking over to his mate. "And tell your mother, we have a deal." He said waving his hands about.

"Oh and Rose? Your father is delighted to hear that he will be having a new grandchild. Congratulations." I put my hand on my stomach protectively and glared at him.
"As am I to hear that there is going to be a new family member, just of wrong blood. I'm sure you can have another." Luca said.
Wait did he threaten me?
He finally left and I turned quickly back to Michael.
"Are you okay?" I asked concerned.
"You're pregnant?" Michael questioned me.
"Yes." I told him as he grunted in pain.
"You're also a fucking Changretta?" He asked adding to the long list of questions.
"No, well kinda. I'm a Lombardi." I corrected him lifting his shirt to see the wound.
"Shit."
A gun was fired at the door and Thomas came crashing in.
"Michael, Rose? What happened? What happened?" He repeated.
"They heard you, they heard you coming." Michael answered.
"The gun misfired." He added. "They ran away."
Arthur and Johnny ran out after them.
"You came just in time." I told them still shakily breathing.
"You alright Rose, why are you here? You and your baby could of been hurt." Tommy said actually concerned, Polly must have told him about the baby.
"I'm fine, I know Luca wouldn't have done anything, I don't think." I told him concerned about what Luca could actually do.
"You hurt?" He then asked Michael.
"I'm fine, I'm fine." he lied still taking in ragged breaths.
"Fuck off, no you're not." I snapped going to get a nurse.

I sat with Polly at the betting shop when she got a call. I didn't listen because it was rude but she seemed a little secretive about it.
Who was it?
She ran out of the room and I followed suspiciously.
"Where is he?" Polly asked Lizzie.
"Fucking." she responded drunkenly.
"Fucking what?" Polly responded.
"Fucking her." Lizzy said holding up a small sheet.

Polly walked over and snatched it out of Lizzie's hand. "Ten thousand pounds?" I looked at it in shock, that's a lot of money.
"She left it blank so I filled it for her." Lizzie said and I snickered at her.
"What's Tommy's diary looking like for the rest of the week?" Polly asked Lizzie putting the sheet down.
Lizzie told Polly and brought out some tea.
"I've saved some of this." she said showing the teapot off. "Read my leaves Pol." Lizzie said putting her cigarette out. "You haven't done mine in ages." she told her.
"Wait do you think?" I asked her my jaw dropping.
"I don't know." she told me truthfully.
She did the instructions and handed Polly the cup before going out to get Tommy's diary. I watched Polly analyse it but her face didn't change. She told Lizzie about some appointment.
"Go to the doctors about that baby in your tea leaves" Polly said leaving, Lizzie watched her leave in shock.
"It's okay Lizzie if you want our babies could be mates." I said patting my belly. Why the fuck did I say that? I should of made a joke. Pregnancy is making me weird.
—
I followed Arthur and Finn past other apartments looking at all the dull scenery.
"Here we go brother, sister. Home sweet home." Arthur said throwing a case down on to the floor. I looked around the trashed room in disgust. This place needs a good clean.
"A place for you to bring that baby back, bring your mates, play games, gamble, cards. And you can keep your eye on our backyard." Arthur said kicking glass.
"It's a bit messy isn't it?" I said putting an arm around Finn who was looking around as well.
"Artillery Square, place is full of communists. The strikers. Having two Shelby's around will keep them in order." Arthur told us whilst I stared at the ceiling.
"I'm not a Shelby Arthur." I looked at him being careful of where I step.
"You are Rose, you defiantly will be soon though." he said walking through the broken glass.
"Light the fire, take some of the shit off the walls, Curly will be over later with some poison for the rats." after the comment I leant into Finn more, I hate rats, little pests they are.
"Arthur?" Finn asked making Arthur turn around to him.
"This morning, I wouldn't have been able to pull that trigger. I know I wouldn't, they would she just walked past. I'm not John, I know I'm not." Finn admitted and I looked up at him.
How dare he get taller. Preposterous.
I know ever since John died the boys wanted Finn to take his place. That's why he's involved with all the business shit. But I'm scared because this is a dangerous job. That's not Finn. Finn isn't John.
I felt my emotions get ahead of me and wet tears dropped down my pale skin.
"Alright, you're my brother. I know you're not, alright. In the end, it's God who pulls that fucking trigger anyway. We don't get to decide who lives and who does Finn. Not us." Arthur paused.
"You just have to, flick a switch in your head." Finn nodded and Arthur left.
"Finn." I paused looking up at him. "I know you're not John, you're a completely different person. We all know that." I told him leaning in to kiss him.
"I know Rose." Finn said putting his hand on my stomach.
"At least we have the place to ourself, right? A place to raise our family." I told him smiling.
"Sure." Finn said hugging me.
I want this to last forever. But of course it never does.

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
