《Nick Wilde X Reader | A New Partner》Lanterns

Reaching for the door handle, your frosty paws touched the chilled surface. Your ears pushed flat against your head as you tugged on the handle.
Locked.
For heck's sake.
Okay. This is okay. Just try the front door.
Your pads slid along the crystal cold floor while moving towards the front.
"Please be unlocked," you breathed quietly.
The smallest moment passed before a hopeful tug on the door popped it open.
Not even checking to see what the bears were doing, you quickly jumped in and closed the door softly behind you.
A shiver of relief made your ears twitch and your nose tingle. You rubbed your nose with the back of your paw. Standing in the warm air was beyond amazing.
However, from the corner of your eye, an orange glow seemed to draw your attention to the right. Behind slidable glass lay an auburn mesh contrasting against a velvet seat.
You slid the glass back and began to climb through into the back seat.
Ears perked up from the circle of fur. You moved closer as the figure lifted itself up before you. You froze less than a foot away as vibrant green eyes unveiled themselves before you. Everything else seemed insignificant.
Green was a nice color. But never was it this nice. Shimmering disks filled with shards of emerald... the moment seemed to last for so long...
Blinking and trailing away from the green lanterns you noticed lines of wet fur streaking from the corners of his eyes.
The damp and flattened fur lead down to a metallic contraption tightly fastened around his mouth.
Nick was so surprised you were there. He didn't even didn't even try to say something.
Even if he couldn't say it himself, you knew the priority would be to get this horrible thing off of him.

Reaching over, only a slight flinch came from Wilde as you moved a paw around his head to the back of the muzzle. A latch that would be nearly impossible to remove by the wearer was covered in scratches and had little bits of sunset fur in it.
He must have tried so hard to get this off...
A click noise rung around the padded interior as it was unhooked. A similar echo came as it hit the floor of the vehicle.
Warmth wrapped around you as he pulled you up onto the seat. He nuzzled you and your face tickled as it was buried in his fur. A familiar scent surrounded you and you melted into his embrace.
"Thank you," came a vibrating whisper into your ears that made your face hot.
You could feel his heartbeat and his arms tighten even more. So warm, so good. Complete ecstasy. Another shiver struck you from your ears to your toes.
As you both slowly let go, you remembered you still had his phone. Handing it to him you ask, "Why would they want this?"
Taking the phone, Nick unlocks it and pulls up the tracking information for an important shipment, "They want this tracking information—so they can hijack the cargo and take it themselves."
"And why do you need it?"
"I-"
Light exploded into the car as the doors unlocked and opened, "Alright Nick you're comin' wit—what the!"

A War Beyond Kings
Author: I made som mistakes early in the story that I will have to correct, but it will take some time. I have not abandoned this story, but I will be working on my computer and will not be active on royal road. "The elves start to leave their secure forest of Silvanwood for the first time in over two thousand years. Wizards are murdered in their own homes one by one to the dismay of the Jeidan Order of mages. The ancient ruins in Agnellia seem to have awoken after thousands of years of abandon. The flames of war are brewing, and the continent of Maëgor is about to witness a war like never seen before." Author’s note: This is a serious story, loosely inspired from many great works, which you will maybe be able to identify on your own. It is entirely original though. I’ll be working on this for hours every day, but that doesn’t necessarily means that there’ll be daily chapters. I don't own the rights to the cover image, and will immediatly take it down if the author requires so. Every chapter will be at least 2000 words. And congratulations to anyone who guesses on which language the chapter titles are written in.
