《Future Dynasty》Lecture Sixteen

Mom was sending Reagan to Italy.
Of course we had talked about it once we got back to the house but I didn't think it was happening so soon.
That night mom had been waiting for us it wasn't a surprise that she knew what had went down. I had a feeling this one was to do with Zoe. There was probably cameras all over that port and it wouldn't have taken much of her energy to find out about it.
Draven had a lot to live up to when it came to filling his moms shoes.
In the middle of class River had told me that Reagan was leaving today. It didn't take me a second to make up my mind and leave class.
Not that I had wanted to be there anyway.
With another day within those walls there was no doubt in my mind that I was done with the place.
What I wanted to do had nothing to do with what I learnt in that place.
Nothing in school could ever prepare me for the path I was going to follow.
Bursting into the house one of the maids were quick to tell me that my brother was in his room when I had asked her if he was here. For a second I was caught of guard to be told that he was actually here but then I remembered that he was probably getting ready to go to go.
Italy.
Two of the most important men in my life where now going to be over there.
Frankly I didn't know how I felt about that.
Taking the stairs two at a time I made my way up them not sparing a moment to gain my breath at the top.
So many thoughts were running through my mind and I was almost bursting with adrenaline.
As I stormed into my older brothers room he lazily glanced up at me, for once in his life looking casual. In his black top and grey sweats I was reminded about the fact that he was only twenty but yet he looked like he had taken on the world.
He was about to when he headed to Italy.
"Yes?" He asked knowing that I was bursting with questions as he gazed at me. He always knew when the questions were coming.
"Those men at the night of the port who where they?"
Reagan might not have been there that night but I had no doubt in my mind he knew who I was talking about.
If it wasn't for the fact that I had grew up with Reagan I wouldn't have spotted the slight surprise on his face before he masked it.
The only reason I had spotted it at all was because I knew it would happen.
Time had past by since then and he was probably surprised I was bringing it up now. After the realisation at school I was over ignoring what was going on around me.
"Just some wanna be who is trying to deal in the City." Waved off Reagan as he looked back down at the paperwork on his desk. My stormy grey eyes narrowed dangerously knowing that my brother was lying to me.
He knew fine rightly that I wasn't going to buy that bullshit but he was trying to brush it away like the question had never even left my lips.
"Those men-"
"Shouldn't you be at school?" He spun on his chair finally coming face to face with me. I was expecting annoyance on his features but I was wrong. He looked at me with a knowing look, like he knew what was going through my mind even when I still fully didn't.

So I did the only thing I could do.
I ignored the question the same way he had ignored mine.
"Those men at that port are the same men that had came to the gym to attack me. They didn't go after Levi or Emilia, they came after me directly. Now if that doesn't tell you I deserve to know what's going on then I don't know what does."
Reagan's closed off the emotions on his face the same way our mom was so infamous for doing. Suddenly I remembered River's words from earlier reminding me that Reagan wasn't the only one that took after our mom.
I was just as much her daughter as Reagan was her son.
The more River's words danced through my mind the more I believed them. I might not think things through as much as her but I was just as quick with words and knew how to move the board when I wanted too.
Reagan on the other hand was thinking things through right now and I could see them dancing across his eyes. He was deciding between telling me and not telling me the truth.
The truth, I was going to make him tell, even if he didn't want too.
Finally he sighed and stood up to close the door behind me.
"Why are you asking questions you already know the answers too?"
He was right I already did know the answer.
Those men worked for the Italian's, I didn't know how and I didn't know why but what I did know was that they were in our City and they weren't for going away anytime soon.
"That's why you've been out so much isn't it? Why none of us had seen you properly in so long. You were learning everything you could about them for dad."
Walking over to the paperwork that Reagan had been looking at I noticed that they were shipping networks and they weren't ours.
"For mom." He corrected and I turned my head to look at him briefly before looking back down at the paper. "Dad's been busy dealing with them on their own ground. Mom was the one to notice first that they had slowly made their way here. That's why she had come back from London so quick."
"Mom came to gain control of the situation back home." I concluded and Reagan nodded at my answer as I started to piece everything together. "That's why she was so eager in finding you when she came back. She wanted to know how you were getting on."
Reagan scoffed back a laugh like I just said the funniest thing. "Mom always knew where I was and what I was at. She wanted me to come to her on my own, it was a test."
"A test?" Now I was completely confused.
"Don't tell me you've never noticed it." Spoke Reagan like I was five years old again and I narrowed my eyes at him. "Mom's always been testing us, she's been doing it our whole lives even when we don't know it ourselves."
"What?"
"Every choice we've made, every thought and every action she knows about it. She's watched us grow and watched every action we've made to shape us into who we are." He paused for a moment looking slightly proud. "Mom knows and sees everything but she has let us grow, make our own mistakes and our own success because she wants us to be the best. She wants us to reach the top of what ever it is we choose and as our mom she's guided us without actually telling us what to do with our lives."

Thinking back I knew Reagan was right. I've struggled for so long to decide what it is that I wanted to do and I've realised all along mom knew what it was that I would pick. She knew long before I did what it was that I wanted to do.
"She was testing me because she wanted to see if I would do what it took to get the information that we needed." There was pride in his voice that told me he had done just that.
He had done what was needed to be done.
"Mom could've sent anyone to get that information but she had asked you."
Reagan nodded. "Mom knew I was ready for more and I guess this was like her final test but it wasn't to show her that I could do it. It was to prove to myself that I could do it. Before that I doubted that I would ever be at the level that our parents are at." Something hardened in his eyes like he knew what he had to do. "Now I know what I'm capable of and what this world holds."
"What was the information you gained?"
We both noticed that I didn't ask what it was that he had to do to get that info but somethings were better of left unspoken.
Opening a drawer he pulled out a folder and put it in my hand. I flipped through the pages quickly not really taking in the information but noticing that it was full of names and mugshots.
Quickly it clicked.
"These are the men working for the Italians." Shock covered my face as I flipped through it once more. "The ones in the City?"
"Yea, each one of these men are currently here, some of the messengers jump from here and Italy but basically they are all here."
"How did you get this?" I asked holding the folder away from me like it was on fire.
"Some questions you don't want the answers to little sister." There was a softness in his voice that he only ever held for me and Emilia, with that voice I knew to drop the topic.
It almost killed me to hand the folder back knowing the information I held but my disappointment was sort lived when Reagan pushed it back into my hands.
"You'll need that more than I do. Use it to keep our home safe while I'm gone, I'm sure mom will be working her magic but it wouldn't hurt to have another pair of eyes out there." He then looked at me carefully but their was that knowing look once again. "Plus it looks like you've made your choice."
"I'm not going back." When I hard first left through those doors I slight doubt but now after taking with River I knew it was the right thing to do.
There was nothing there for me on that side of life.
With this folder in my hand it all but confirmed that my desire to protect my home and my dads empire was all that I could think about.
"I wasn't going to tell you too." Reagan responded with a grin. "After all, I left at sixteen I don't think I'd be in the right place to tell anyone to go back to school when it wasn't for me either."
"Is that where you met Daniella?" I asked with a sly grin of my own. Reagan seemed to pause for a moment and I took pride in catching my older brother off guard.
Reagan leaned over and poked me on the forehead making me take a step back. It was something he always did when I asked a question he didn't want to answer.
"You're being a little nosy aren't you?" His tone was light telling me that he wasn't completely against the topic. Before I could push further he answered. "But yea I met Daniella in school. Me, her and Nick used to be close but then it all fell apart."
He held no emotion in his voice as he spoke starting to pack his bags for Italy.
"I know about Nick but why Daniella?"
"What you know about Nick is only half the story but if you must know Danny's dad was a detective. I didn't find out for years and mom never told me even though she knew. When I found out I pushed her away because I don't think me being a crime bosses son would work out to well for us being friends in the long run."
I got what he was without the words being spoken out loud. He didn't know if he could trust her and he didn't know if she had been spying on him this whole time for her dad.
"From the way she looked at you for the first time in years the other day I would say she hadn't told her dad anything. In fact I would bet she didn't know about dad just as much as you didn't know about hers."
He scoffed not completely believing my words, it probably didn't help I didn't either. "There's not a soul in this city that doesn't know who the Kennedy family is. She might not have known I was his son but she definitely knew I was related in some way."
He was right but I wasn't going to press on that matter or tell him to make amending with her. Reagan was the smartest person I knew there was no doubt in my mind he made what was the best choice for the both of them.
"Probably for the best." My voice was lighter as I tried to change the atmosphere of the conversation. "Levi would probably shit himself if he knew that the future queen in our family was related to law enforcement. Now wouldn't that make a story for the world."
"Tell me about it, and she's one herself now too."
First thing I noticed was that he didn't deny my comment about the future Queen.
He was right though, she worked for the F.B.I and she was young which told me she was either in training or she was brought on because of that age.
Throwing my head back I let out a long exhale as I thought about our lives and the world we live in. "There's always going to be something around every corner isn't there?"
"Oh, no doubt." Reagan zipped up his suitcase as he looked back at me. "Just make sure you're ready for it little sister once you're in there's no getting out."
We both knew that was a lie as a daughter of a king I could walk away if I wanted and wouldn't get the punishment for doing so.
He just wanted to frighten me. Just like how mom had been testing him, he was now testing me.
"Trust me this world won't throw anything at me that's anywhere near as close to hell as school."
Reagan let out a deep laugh as he nodded in agreement. "Yea, I'll let you have that one, couldn't pay me to go back."
Suddenly I felt a pair of keys thrown my way and if it wasn't for my quick reflexes they probably would've hit me square in the face.
"Rude." I grumbled under my breath as I looked down at them.
My heart near stopped in my chest.
I'd forgotten how to breath.
"You can't be serious." I finally spoke, half yelling half shocked.
There was no way Reagan was giving me this car.
"Just until I get back." He said throwing a bag over his shoulder. Then he gave me that threatening older sibling look. "Get one scratch her and the first person I murder when I get home will be you."
Squealing in excitement I chucked myself into Reagan's arms. The back on his shoulder falling to floor as he quickly steadied us both before we fell to the floor.
"You would think I gave you a kidney." Laughed Reagan as he got his balance back.
"Trust me this is far better than a fucking kidney." Stepping back I held up the keys like they were a new born baby.
My mind couldn't get over the fact that he had handed me the keys to his Bugatti Divo. A car that was worth millions when my mom had bought it for Reagan has now become priceless.
Between mom and Reagan both working on it and the symbol that it stood for in this city no other car could compare.
People would kill to even get to sit in this car.
"Wait..." I looked at him suspiciously. "Are you dying?"
Reagan laughed as he pulled open his door and walked out, me hot on his heels.
"Trust me little sister if I was dying that car would be buried with me." He turned around and I stopped right in front of him, his expression turning serious as he leaned down to whisper to me. "When I'm gone make sure to remind them that while most of the Kennedy family might be out of this City, we still rule it."
"Trust me the woman in the family can handle our home."

Blightbane
Miscellaneous Notes: - I want to see about making a crude map of Shroud to help readers. - I also want to get back to writing Coalescence updates. Schedule Notes: - None for now, updates when I can. [ Thank you for your patience and support as I improve my writing and storytelling abilities. I'm also using this story to better develop lore that extends far beyond it. ] Thanks to another exceptionally talented artist, Hiroeth, Blightbane now has an official cover! Vera was alone again. “You’re completely unprepared. Never before has sending one of you off made me feel quite so guilty.” Whenever she found herself in doubt, she would weigh her actions against the guiding principles of the one whom she revered. “When you don’t know the rules of the game, start making them up. When you are constrained by unfavorable conditions, inject a little chaos.” It was the supplementary message that concerned Vera the most. It was difficult to follow because it was intentionally vague and mired in subjectivity. “How can I enjoy myself when you look so tormented? Are we in danger?” Vera fell silent. An experiment is taking place on a planetary scale. Across the surface of the planet, a phenomenon referred to as "Blight" is spreading. Festering regions defended by fierce creatures called “blightbeasts” taint the surface, warping the land and proliferating unceasingly. Among the sentient creatures of the planet, it is the Blightbane Guild’s responsibility to stem the tide. They endeavor to cleanse the land in a struggle of attrition, but they are losing ground. A young man named Caim has been uprooted from his former life and transported to The Shrouded Theocracy, an isolationist nation with fanatical policies. He must struggle to survive with only an unfamiliar strain of magic to aid him. There is a secret to this magic. One he knows very little about. He intends to explore just what makes this magic special. On the far border of the theocracy, a mage scientist named Inis discovers a revolutionary new way to infuse strength from defeated blightbeasts. Using herself as a test subject, this process allows her to grasp magical concepts previously thought beyond her reach. Though she tries to document any side effects that arise, something escapes her awareness. She is playing with a dangerous force that will claim her most treasured asset if she isn't careful. Everyone and everything on the planet is a part of the experiment. The experiment is a lie.
