Even if the kids were acting as normal as ever in their kitchen, the adults couldn't even move a muscle of theirs as they watched their actions closely and carefully.
"What's the date? The exact date." Five finally spoke up leaning on the table as Y/n came back and put the bread in front of him.
"The 24th." Vanya softly replied for them.
"Of what?" Y/n almost cut her off as she crossed her hands on her chest and looked at Vanya straight in the eyes. Vanya was left disheveled for a moment there, after not seeing her sister for so long and her coming back a lot changed, as the eye contact was held between them strongly by Y/n.
"Uh..." Vanya looked at the ground and cleared her throat. "March."
Five looked up from the cutting board in front of him and turned his head at Y/n, wanting to see her reaction. But the girl just quietly shakily exhaled and continued taking out the bread from the bag, not even glancing at him.
"So are we gonna talk about what just happened?" Luther finally asked them wanting answers from them now.
The boy didn't even move his look from the board unlike Y/n, who looked up and leaned against the table with her hands. She tilted her head to her left and pretended to mock him. "Not really, no."
The two of them glared at each other for a couple of seconds, which was watched by everyone, even Five. Eventually, Luther had enough and stood up from his seat. "It's been seventeen years."
Five scoffed at his response and walked closer. "It's been a lot longer than that." He quickly jumped to the pantry to get some marshmallows.
"I haven't missed that."
"Same goes out to you." Y/n whispered under her breath which Luther noticed but was unable to get back at her because Diego spoke up.
"Where did you two go?"
"The future." Y/n heavily sighed as the weight was starting to crumble down on her once again. "Which is shit by the way." She added looking up from the ground as Five jumped next to her.
"Called it!" Klaus held his finger up and softly chuckled making Y/n try to hide her smile when she walked to the fridge.
"Yeah, we should have listened to the old man." Five sighed as well after coming back to his place.
"We?-" Y/n came back from the fridge with peanut butter in her hands and a startled look on her face. The girl was about to start spilling the truth out to everyone, but Five, already knowing that, cut her off taking the jar out of her hands.
"You know, jumping through space is one thing, jumping through time is a toss of dice." Five finished his eulogy as Y/n rolled her eyes, not even trying to hide it, before walking up to him. "Nice dress."
"Oh, well, danke!" Klaus laughed as he twirled his skirt with his fingers.
The girl was about to start making her own sandwich, but after her eyes landed on the sign of Five already making for the both of them, she kept her hands to herself and looked down at the table.

"Wait, how did you get back?" Vanya spoke up after noticing Y/n's look and wishing to make her feel better by continuing the conversation.
The girl opened her mouth, about to answer Vanya's question, before Five stepped in. "In the end, I had to project our consciousness forward into a suspended-"
"Quantum state version of ourselves that exists across every possible instance of time." Y/n put on a fake smile and finished for him, giving Vanya a warm look. Five noticed, that she wasn't satisfied with him and was acting passive-aggressively, but, once again, before anyone could say anything, Diego spoke up.
"That makes no sense." He shook his head, looking at the ground and trying to understand.
"Well, it would if you were smarter." Five sarcastically replied making Y/n scoff and earn a glare from him. Even if she didn't look up, the girl always knew what it looked like and could not care less about it.
Diego stood up from his seat and being about to charge at them, Luther stopped him from going anywhere by standing in front of him and putting his hand out.
"How long were you two there?"
"45 years." Y/n slowly answered him looking up at his face. "A shit ton of time, give or take."
The realization slowly started to sink in with Luther and Diego as the two sat back down and took a couple of moments to process the information and math.
"So what are you saying?" Luther was the first to ask. "That you're both 58?"
"No, our consciousness is 58." Five answered him with gritted teeth. "Apparently our bodies are thirteen again." He explained as he took one sandwich in his arms and gave another one to Y/n.
She rolled her eyes and took it from his hands a bit hesitantly. Not sure why, she still examined it in her hands, seeing that it looked exactly the same as it was. His recipe was identical even if some wouldn't even call it one.
But as she was holding it in her hands, Five walked past her and stood near the fridge wanting to get away from everyone for a second as Y/n continued to stand next to the table.
"Wait, how does that even work?" Vanya shook her head and asked.
Y/n smiled to herself and looked up. "You see, this idiot..." She pointed her finger at Five. "...didn't listen to me when I was trying to tell him that he messed up." She scoffed and shook her head. "But, as usual, I was ignored and he-"
"Yeah, Y/n and Delores kept saying that the equations were wrong." Five had enough and turned around to Y/n actually agreeing which made her furious face fade a bit. "Bet her and you are laughing now together."
He walked back over to her and let his usual upset face leave him and get replaced with a more relieved look. But the girl didn't buy this at all. "Not really." She didn't break her glare from him with a serious look which made Five look down at the ground and away.
"Delores?" Vanya and everyone else looked at Y/n with one single thought in their head. But the kids ignored her as Five picked up a newspaper that was on the table which had their father's death plastered all around the front page as Y/n began to eat her sandwich.
"Guess we missed the funeral."
"How'd you know about that?" Luther furrowed his eyebrows at such a comment.

"What part of the future do you not understand?" Y/n answered his question with a question eating her sandwich. Luther looked away from her with an embarrassing look.
"Heart failure, huh?"
"Yeah."
"No."
Diego and Luther answered Five at the same time only with opposite answers.
The silence among everyone was back as each of the siblings kept their look on something different. "Nice to see nothing has changed." Five eventually scoffed and walked out of the kitchen leaving everyone including Y/n, who was still standing at the table.
"That's it? That's all you have to say?" Allison turned around and followed Five with her eyes until he was gone.
"What else is there to say? The circle of life." He answered before vanishing and making everyone turn their disbelief looks at Y/n.
Y/n turned her look away from the boy and towards her siblings after seeing that everyone's eyes were on her. "What?"
"You're the smart one, aren't you going to say anything?" Klaus smiled showing at her with his hands.
"Yeah, no." Y/n shook her head. "I wouldn't say anything better anyways." She sighed before following Five's path out of the room.
Everyone's looks followed her until she was gone out of their sight and the room. They were left to wonder for themselves alone, even if they would probably spend their time trying to understand what the pair was talking about this whole time.
"Well..." Luther sighed trying to think of something to say as if he wasn't the most confused out of everyone in the room. "...that was interesting."

But after changing into his uniform that he so desperately wishes to burn, the boy walked out of his room and started wandering the halls as if he was lost.
After seeing no differences in it, he slowly and cautiously approached Y/n's room. Peeking his head inside her bedroom, he saw the girl, already in her uniform, standing next to her desk and playing with the pens she had left that same fateful day behind her.
"So, you missed this place or not?" He asked her walking into the room and looking around it to avoid eye contact with her.
The girl continued playing with her pen in her hands, not taking her look away from it as well, and answered him in a very sarcastic way as before. "I'm sure as hell you did."
The last of Five's happiness vanished from his face as he finally turned to her. Her disgruntlement on her face and in her voice was visible as ever and he took it as a sign to change the subject.
"Look, I'm sorry I messed up." He started walking closer to her with his hands in his shorts' pockets. "I didn't listen to you and-"
"Exactly." Y/n cut him off and finally turned her head to him. "When you don't listen to me, things go wrong in every possible way." She put her pen back into the pencil holder on her desk. "If you don't pay attention to my disagreement, it doesn't work out. When will you learn for god's sake?" She scoffed and crossed her hands on her chest turning away from him.
"You never listen to me and expect to work out everything?" She rhetorically asked. "Well, forty-five years of making the same mistake. Four and a half decades of ignoring everything I say." Finally, she turned her look back at him and their eyes met each other. "You're fifty-eight years old, yet you're immature like a child."
That felt like a slap to the face for the boy. He thought of himself so much yet the closest person to him didn't even think the same. Five looked down at the ground and tried to swallow away the weight that was in his throat. "I just wanted to tell you, I'm sorry."
The pair looked deep into each other's eyes not knowing who should say the next. It wasn't as if Five never apologized, he did. And this time, just like any other one, it didn't mean anything to Y/n.
"I don't care." The girl almost whispered, that was how low her voice was when she wanted to avoid letting her voice quiver. She said it before, but this time, it really didn't matter if she was willing to forgive him. They had other tasks to do.
Five's face fell from hearing those words but he quickly fixed himself by clearing his throat and switching the topic. "We, uh, we should go downstairs to the others."
"I won't." Y/n almost cut him off looking away and choking as she tried to keep her tears from coming down her cheeks.
The boy saw her state and took it as a memo to leave her alone. After nodding and walking out of the room, closing the door on his way out even if it wasn't closed before, the girl heavily exhaled to herself.
Trying to steady her breathing didn't work out at all and she sat on the edge of her bed and let out soft sobs covering her mouth from not making any sounds.
She felt hopeless as ever. Lost. Tired. Decades of the only thing keeping her mind up have now led her to the psychological challenge she had to eventually face. Being obligated to stay with the man she hated most whether she liked it or not was about to be even harder than she thought.
"Y/n?" A familiar quiet and soft voice was heard out of nowhere which made the girl take her face out of her hands and wipe away the tears.
"Oh, Vanya." She softly chuckled with a sniffle as Vanya walked inside her room. "What-what's wrong?"
Vanya inspected Y/n as she slowly walked over to her and sat down on her bed. "You okay?"
Looking away and down at her hands was Number Eight's move to avoid crying to Vanya. But after realizing how terribly she had treated Vanya after coming back and Vanya still coming to her aid not caring about it made her lips tremble and tears continue running down.
Vanya took her sister into an embrace and let Y/n free her emotions out to a real person. Even if the person wasn't going to say anything, just provide the comfort that the girl so desperately needed.

"𝐈𝐅 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄 anything in the house, what would you change?" Five curiously asked as he sat on Y/n's bed's edge and didn't take his eyes off the girl herself.
Y/n stopped putting her books into the book cabinet and stood up. "I would probably install a system which allowed you to come to my room whenever I would let you and only with my permission." She pretended to think before continuing.
"Really?" The boy furrowed his eyebrows. "How so?"
Y/n put her hand on her hip after putting the last book. "Really? Well, you spent 99.4% of your time in my room, and, unfortunately, there are these things in the world called "privacy" and "the thought of wanting to have some alone time." She showed with her fingers.
"I guess that's just the perks of having a favorite sibling, dear Y/n." Five chuckled with a playful smirk on his face.
But the girl just rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah, talk about that for as long as you want but I, as a citizen of the United States, have the right to kick you out of my room at any point in life since this is my space." Y/n imitated some accent that was definitely not hers.
"Really?"
"Really."
"Then do it."
"Do what?"
"Kick me out of your room, if you're so tough."
Y/n scoffed at that comment and looked away from him with a disbelievable look. "Do you actually want for me to try?"
"Do it." Five stood up from the bed and put his hands in his pockets. "I dare you."
Now there was no way Y/n was about to refuse that. "All right, but one rule, ok?" She started slowly walking over to him holding one of her fingers up.
"Sure, go for it."
"No using powers." She stood right in front of him with a mischievous smile. "Got it?"
Five looked deep into her eyes almost making Y/n blush before he nodded. "Fine by me."
And so, the game began.
No countdown, no nothing. Whoever took the lead first would get the upper hand and it was none other but Y/n.
She started dragging Five by his hands towards the door until he pulled her and she fell to the ground with a grunt. Not wasting any seconds, Y/n took Five from the ground pulling one of his legs and making him fall down next to her.
As Five laughed out loud Y/n quickly stood up and began dragging Five by his feet. The boy tried to find something to hold himself to with his hands but after seeing that he was about to lose, he jumped.
The girl was about to fall to the ground after the weight she was dragging disappeared, but Five teleported behind her and picked her up throwing her on his shoulder. "No, no!" Y/n screamed and laughed, hitting Five's back and wanting for him to let her go.
But before she could do anything, Five threw her on the bed making Y/n about to start running away with laughs coming out from her every second until he fell right on top of her.
The boys' eyes landed on Y/n's making the girl stop laughing and look straight right into his eyes too. The couple's breaths worked on the same rhythm as their lips were inches away from one another.
As Y/n's eyes trailed away from Five's pupils and to his mouth, an invisible force pulled Five by his legs and off Y/n. "What- no, Y/n!" Five yelled as his body was dragged through the floor of her room.
She stood up from her bed and walked toward him with a proud look on her face. Eventually, Five was thrown out of the room and over the threshold, landing on his face but quickly looking up at her.
"Y/n..." He groaned trying to get up from the ground as Y/n herself leaned against the threshold with her hands on her chest and that same playful smirk Five had and looked down at him.
"Told ya no powers."

The Voice of the World
Jason Elric used to be an ordinary college student living in the heart of San Francisco. He had a part time job, he played online games with friends he got along moderately well with, and he earned reasonably good grades. The worst he really had to worry about in life was turning in his coursework on time and not being late to class. Now, though? Now fighting for his life and running from a horde of giant frogs that want to make him their next meal is just another Tuesday. Thanks to a summoning ritual gone terribly right, Jason has found himself trapped in a world eerily similar to the role playing games games he used to play for fun. Unfortunately for the now ex-college student, everything happening around him is terrifyingly real and if he wants to survive, he’ll have to figure out how to exploit the system for his benefit before it’s too late. The Voice of the World is the first part of what is planned to be a multi-book, Isekai LitRPG story with crafting elements, set in the fantasy world known as Verdania. This is my first time posting online for public consumption, so bear with me as I work to find a style that people like. While I may occasionally write scenes that may deal with heavy concepts, expect this story to be primarily light hearted high fantasy. There will be a lot of common fantasy tropes involved, as this story got its start as a simple practice exercise, rather than any plan to actually post it. However, it’s grown on me, so I felt it’s worth sharing after all. Thus, if you’re looking for more serious/original/unusual stories, you might want to look elsewhere. For the rest of you, feel free to leave suggestions, as well as to point out grammar and spelling mistakes; I’ll do my best to make edits to correct them. I do my own editing currently, and it’s easy to miss things when you know what’s supposed to be there, so such call outs are highly encouraged. Content TLDR: No harems, probably no romance (unless it makes sense for the story later on) (it did, eventually), definitely no sex (keeping this PG-13 or close to it), limited profanity. Does/Will contain mixes of magic and technology (think Warhammer, Final Fantasy); copious amounts of blue tables; race, gender, and sexual equality concepts; crafting sequences; and (slightly, but not overbearingly) strong protagonists. If you don’t like these things, go elsewhere instead of downvoting people for content instead of writing quality. Update Time currently varies, due to personal injury, but the goal is 1/week on Wednesdays, with a possible smaller chapter on weekends if time/health permits.

This means your looks, money, power, and items. Keyword there: survive. And so the MC is a guy that made it to the final battle. He has seen so much shit and does not have the best view of humanity at this point. And then his teammates betray him. Cliche, right? At least he messed them up real good. But he came back a month before the game began. This is his tale. Sooo what is the point of this story? Well I kinda just wanted to write a story about scumbags and them dying in horrible ways because yes I have a twisted sense of humor like that.
