you could still remember when you first got to washington to play with the capitals. it was scary being in a new country with a language that you knew very little of.

you were very thankful to have your brother alex there with you to help you with your transition from the khl to the nhl.

you were able to live with him, his wife, and kids for a while before moving out into your own place.

you remember going to your first practice. so does jakub because his eyes went right to you and his mind began to wander. he snapped himself back into reality before you could get to him to introduce yourself.

"i'm cassie." you said timidly.

"jakub." he introduced himself with a light blush on his face.

jakub released a gigantic breath as you stepped away from him. he thought you were absolutely stunning.

your next core memory of your transition into the nhl was your first game. you were on the first line with backstrom and your brother. your brother really never left you alone.

you were overjoyed to be playing your first game in the nhl.

"first game of many." alex told you as you warmed up.

you smiled and nodded at him, "i hope so."

you finished the game with a goal and an assist on your brother's goal. you felt good.

jakub came up to you in the pretty much empty locker room and patted your knee.

"hey cassie, nice game out there." he smiled big.

"thanks jake." you smiled back as you finished taking off your equipment.

when you were done you spotted jakub waiting for you outside of the dressing room.

"cassie, this might be random, but ever since you've been here you caught my eye and... will you go on a date with me?" jakub asked timidly.

you blushed gently and nodded, "yes i will."

jakub was probably one of the kindest and cutest people you have ever met and being asked on a date by him was surreal.

that date went well and the next one and the next one and so on.

you guys had been dating for a few months now. it was quite easy to hide from everyone since now you lived on your own instead of with alex.

you and jakub just thought it was better to keep a secret for a bit while you found your way through the fresh relationship.

the caps were on a road trip currently and jakub had found his way into your room. you didn't mind at all. you loved to cuddle with that adorable little man.

"go to sleep baby. i'll be your pillow." jakub whispered in your ear.

you fell asleep on his chest and napped for a while before the game later that night.

when you woke up, jakub was gone and you could hear some chatter outside of the hotel room door.

you got up quietly and tiredly and pressed your ear against the door to hear jakub and your brother.

immediately, you got a wave of panic in your stomach.

"you better treat her right or we will have some problems jake." alex said to jakub sternly.

you peeked through the peep hole to see the look on alex's face and it wasn't very pleasant.

"i couldn't hurt her ovi. she's everything i need in life." jakub spoke from his heart.

you watched as alex uncrossed his arms and nodded, "i will keep those words in my mind." he said.

jakub smiled and nodded.

"let's go talk to cassandra now." alex said

you quickly ran off to fake sleep.

jakub gently laid a kiss on your temple and shook you lightly, "my love wake up."

you opened your eyes and like expected, there stood jakub and alex.

"i approve of this as long as there is no messing around and no breaking of the heart." alex said and you nodded.

you quickly nodded.

alex smiled and brought both you and jakub into a hug.

"you guys are a nice couple. i should have known." alex chuckled.

what felt like a matter of minutes, the entire team knew of you and jakub's realtionship.

over time, you were being called "caps favorite couple" and all sorts of things like that.

you and jakub couldn't be happier about the way that life had been going.

you had both found someone that you could love and talk to about everything

along with finding someone that your russian brother would like...

what a miracle and you couldn't be more thankful that it was jakub.
