《nhl imagines》cole caufield // montréal canadiens

you remember the day that you had to see cole off to montréal. you were losing your bestfriend for a while, but you were happy because he was living out his lifelong dreams.
you also remember the first day that you and coley met. you were dating his badger teammate linus weissbach at the time.
you and cole had met at a party that linus brought you to. you became instant best friends and beer pong partners with cole.
"you're so fucking good at this." cole yelled over the noise at the party.
"i've had quite a bit of practice caufield." you called back.
he shone that stupidly addictive smile at you and you couldn't help but laugh and smile back.
even after you and linus broke up, cole stuck by you. luckily, you and linus were still friends so that didn't ruin cole's friendship with him.
another thing you remembered was watching coley score his first nhl goal in overtime. your roommate was videoing you as you screamed in excitement.
"that's my fucking beer pong partner !"
cole remembered the moment he saw that video too because only one thought ran through his mind.
"i'm going to marry my damn beer pong partner."
you watched through the long run in the playoffs. every goal that cole scored was a party for you in your apartment.
you watched the moment that all the montréal canadiens players had their stanley cup dreams of that year crushed.
the sadness you saw on cole's face when they panned the camera on him was enough for you to pick up your phone and text him. you didn't know when he would see it, but that didn't matter to you.
cole: are you going to be in madison?
you smiled at the text he sent you and quickly sent one back saying that you would.

you waited in anticipation for cole to arrive at the meetup place you had set.
it was the same smile that was on his face so many times, but it was so much more refreshing this time.
"i missed you." you said as cole embraced you in a warm hug.
the tight hug was enough to say that cole missed you just as much and just didn't have the words to say it.
you pulled away from the hug and looked at cole's face.
cole put his hands on your cheeks and pulled your lips to his.
"come home with me." cole said, "my mom and dad won't mind at all. they like having guests and i know they like you. i talk about you a lot."
you couldn't get any words out of your own mouth now as you stared at him.
you kissed him slower this time and pulled away with a slight pant to both of your breathing.
"please." cole added.
you nodded with your lips still parted with shock.
cole smiled gently and closed his eyes. he pulled you into another tight hug.
"i don't know if you know this, but i really like you." cole whispered.
that was enough to make you burst out in laughter and dig your face farther into his shoulder.
"i like you too coley."

Tales from the Triverse
Tales from the Triverse is part detective drama, part fantasy adventure and part space opera. I’m influenced by the likes of Iain M Banks, Isaac Asimov and ND Stevenson and work including The Wire and Gotham Central. It begins with an incident two hundred years ago which crashed three parallel universes together. Portals open up in 18th century London, sending England down a very different path. We pick up events in the 1970s, with the Metropolitan Police having established a new department to handle portal-related criminal activity. The story is about intolerance, immigration, multiculturalism and power. It’s about what happens when incompatible viewpoints are weaponised to seed discontent, and the efforts of some to create a fairer world. In the tradition of the best science fiction, fantasy and crime fiction, I’m using the setting to examine themes that matter to me in the real world. Who is it for?If you like science fiction or fantasy, or a mix of both, this is for you. It’s my first foray into crime fiction, but I hope if you’re a fan that you’ll enjoy yourself - especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. I write fiction that is optimistic, progressive and empathetic. Bad things can happen to good people in the stories, but the overall arc tends to be hopeful. Note that if it were a movie, Tales from the Triverse would be a 15 certificate in the UK.
