Zanele: Is there anything I can do to forbid this abomination makhosi (traditional healer)

Makhosi: The only way is death.

Zanele gulped and looked down at her hands, contemplating whether she wanted to kill her child's unborn baby. At this point she didn't have a choice, she couldn't risk having a 19-year-old having a baby, her reputation would be tainted, whispers would linger about her daughter and her upbringing as a parent.

Zanele: What do I need makhosi?

The man in front of her sighed and shook his head. Zanele may have been a regular patient and brought him a lot of money but she was cruel, her heart was black, soon she was going to show her true colors when big secrets came out.

Makhosi gave her some herbs and instructed her on what to do. She got up and walked to the door. Makhosi's voice stopped her in her tracks.

Makhosi: Your deeds will catch up with you, tell your husband and your family the truth you've been hiding from them before it's too late.

She looked at him like he had grew two heads as she pounded on whether he knew about her secret but it was impossible since no one knows except her. The only person who knew is dead.

Zanele gulped and flipped him off, she walked out. Makhosi threw his bones on the mat and spoke to his ancestors and he didn't like what he saw. He grunted as he shook.

Makhosi: Ayy makhosi!!

He yelled.

Back at the house, David had asked everyone to stay for dinner. Rose the maid, placed the big bowls on the table filled with food. She arranged the plates, the girls had asked to help but David told them no. Everyone was currently sitting around the dining table and eating while having small talks there.

Mbali: Baba you know u'ma will cause a scene when she finds us eating without her.

David: I'll handle your mother, just eat you have to go back to the hotel and it's getting late, I don't want you driving at night in that condition it's not safe.

Mbali stayed silent after that, if only her father knew that danger is soon to be her middle name.

Zanele barged in the house flaunting her hips as her heels clicked on the marble tiles. Irritating Snakes more than he already was right now as he muttered under his breath.

Snakes: Lady Dracula is here.

Lisa who happened to hear him since she sat closer to him, nudged his arm and he shrugged his shoulders.

Zanele stood at the other end of the table facing her husband with a glare.

Zanele: I see I'm not valued in this house anymore?

Mbali: Ma, it's not like that-

Zanele: Oh, you get knocked up and now you think you grew balls huh?

Mbali rolled her eyes as she went back to fiddling with her food, not in the mood for her mother's tantrums, sure what she said stung but she didn't care right now, her main priority was to protect her child from stress she might be caused by unnecessary comments from unnecessary people.

David: Just sit down Zanele please don't cause a scene, our daughters-

Zanele: Our daughter David, since this ungrateful one here decided to go get engaged to the first rich man she saw, she has pretty much spat in our faces when she didn't tell us. To think she was just so hollow and a piece-

Siya: Finish that sentence and the only time you'll be opening that mouth again will be when you ask for forgiveness when I'm done with you.

He said as he stood up gritting his teeth at her. Sino was too shocked by her words that she didn't register what was happening.

David: Sit down, and don't talk to my wife in that tone.

Siya: Tell your wife if she wants to live another day for a shopping spree she better not disrespect my fiancee.

Sino slowly got up from her chair not wanting any of this to continue anymore but before she could do anything else Zanele spoke again.

Zanele: As soon as he sees just how worthless you really are he'll also leave you high and dry, everyone takes pity on you don't forget that.

Siya: That's it.

Siya was about to draw his gun from his waist when Sino held him in place with her trembling hands. Siya sending one more glance at Zanele, he took Sino's hand and pulled her out of the house to their car and driving to the hotel.

Snakes: Nc nc nc lady Dracula, you have a death wish, again don't do anything stupid.

He said as he got up and taking Monalisa's hand and nodding to Sanele. Sanele sighed and got up with an angry Mbali.

Mbali: I'm afraid we won't be to visit again tomorrow baba.

David: I'll inform you on a date to pay damages.

He directed his statement at Sanele who nodded, obviously not pleased as well.

Mbali: You have outdone yourself Zanele.

Zanele: Ye wena I'm your mother, you won't talk to m-

Mbali: Let's go Sanele.

They all left for the hotel everyone not saying anything to anyone. This night had turned out sour when things seemed like they were actually going well during the day.

David: That was unnecessary.

Zanele: I'm not about to stay here and listen to your rants David, goodnight.

David: Zanele-

She had already strode up the staircase ignoring him. He sighed and shook his head.

When he married her, she was a different person than what she is now, he doesn't know when, how and why she changed but before she was not this person who's heartless and greedy, sure she used to love fancy things before but she wasn't greedy. She was loving and caring, she loved people and forgave but people change or show their true colors sometime in the years. He got up and instructed for Rose to clean up.

Rose: Uright mnumzana? (are you alright sir?)

David: I'll be Rose, I'll be.

Rose sighed and started cleaning the table, Rose was a middle aged woman who had two children, one was a 21 year old girl, who was doing her second year in Univ. and the other was a 18 year boy who was doing his matric.

She was also a widow, she has been working for the Ndlovus for years now to support her family after her husband died. She knows the secrets of this family, just not every secret.

Rose: Ushintshile lomuntu! (She has changed)

David: I know, I know.

David patted Rose's shoulder in a comforting manner and went to his room. Rose admired the kind of man David was, always caring about other people before himself. Who comforts a maid when he's the one going through hell. Only David, that half coloured man was a kind-hearted being.
