"Jace please." I begged. He was in our room packing for his four day business trip with Tez and Jodi.
I crossed my arms and stood in front of him, in his way. He shook his head. "No. I can't risk it."
"I'm a big girl I can look after myself." I argued. "You're carrying my baby."
"I know, so I know you'll die before you let anything happen to us, so just let me come." I said batting my eye lashes at him. He sighed wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Fine but don't get involved in what I'm doing, you gotta stay in the hotel the entire time." I smiled and grabbed my bag to start packing.
"Okay but where are we going?" I asked and Jace laughed and said. "Don't get involved."
•
"Baby take my picture" I smiled handing Jace my phone as we were about to get on his private jet.
"No I already told you I ain't no camera man." He said laughing trying to hand me back my phone. "Please!!"
He sighed. "Hurry up." He held my phone up like he was about to take the picture, I quickly stood in front of the stairs. "Wait, I gotta pose properly to hide my belly." By now I was 5 months pregnant but I still hadn't told everybody yet, I decided to let people figure it out when they saw me.
I pulled my jacket forward trying to cover up my little bump. "Can you see it?" I asked.
Jace ignored my question. "I'm about to take it. 3...2..."
He took my picture and handed me back my phone. "Alright hurry up." Tez and Jodi were already inside waiting on us but I didn't care.
I wrapped my arms around Jace's torso and pecked his lips. "You still haven't told me where we are going" he chuckled and spun me around.
"Get on the Jet Nicki." He said slapping my ass.

"Welcome to Colombia I'm Daniel and I will be you assistant for your stay here with us, any thing you need ask and I will provide."

"Here. Take this." Jace said taking out a stack of 50s and giving Daniel 2, before he left us alone.
"Wow baby look at that view. It's beautiful." I gasped walking over to the glass doors.
I turned around and saw Jace about to leave. "You going right now?" I pouted, we just got here and he was leaving me already.
"Yeah I told you to stay at home. This ain't no vacation Nic I'm here on business." He said, I rolled my eyes and walked over to the bed.
He came over to me and kissed my forehead. "I'll see you in a couple of hours."
"Ok."
•
It was now 11:45 and Jace left at 2 so that means he's been gone almost 10 hours. I shook my legs nervously, I had a really bad feeling that something had gone wrong and Jace was hurt or worse.
I unlocked my phone and opened up find my iPhone. It located Jace. "Alright you can do this Nicki." I said to myself as I grabbed the room key, my phone and gun and headed downstairs.
"How can I help you?" The lady at the reception smiled.
"I need a rental car."
Once I got a car, I drove to where the app led me and I ended up at some old restaurant.
I checked my gun was fully loaded before I stepped out the car taking a deep breath. I cautiously walked up to the restaurant.
I frowned once I was inside and it looked completely empty.
"What the-" my eyes widened when I saw the blood stains on the walls. I was too busy staring at the walls that I tripped on something. "Oh my god!" I semi-yelled, the thing I tripped over was a dead body.
I gagged a little before kneeling down and searching if the person had a weapon on them, I found two guns, I took the bullets out of one and placed the other one at my waistband.
"Fuck!" I heard someone groan in pain, I jumped in fear and quickly aimed my gun at where the sound was coming from.

I walked towards the sound slowly but sighed in relief when I saw who it was.
"What happened?" I asked as Jace sat in darkness on the floor clutching the left side of his torso.
"I'll explain later just pass me my piece" He pointed near where I was standing and I looked down seeing his gun at my feet. "Here." It wasn't until he reached for the gun before I saw the reason he was holding his side.
"Jace" I said softly crying, he was shot and there was a lot of blood. "I'm fine baby. Help me up so we can find Tez ." I quickly wiped my tears and did like he said.
"Yo Jace. What the fuck?! Jodi's dead!" I heard a familiar voice yell, I looked behind me to see Tez who was holding his jaw.
"Tez he got shot. We gotta get him to the hospital" I cried and then I heard Jace chuckle, I looked at him like he's lost his mind.
"Man she tripping come on." Tez walked over to us with a limp (he was badly beaten with bruises all over his face) and Jace hung his arm over his shoulder for support. "What's so funny?" I asked as we walked out.
"He can't go to the hospital, they'll ask too many questions, next thing we all locked up in Colombian jail."
"So where are we going? We can't leave him like this, he'll die!" I yelled watching as he helped Jace in the car.
"We got that covered baby get in" I shook my head. "I can't I rented a car over here."
I took my time driving back to the hotel, I was thinking hard about how my mother must have felt when my father would do shit like this. I never understood my mother or why she acted the way she did but being with Jace I was beginning to sympathise with her more.
I walked into our room seeing Jace laid on the couch as this short black lady patched his wound up. "Baby this is Dr Kelly, Dr this Nicki"
"Oh Nicki. Congratulations" she smiled. "Thanks."
"Okay you're all done here, I've put stitches in, they'll come off themselves once you're fully healed but until then you have to be consistent with changing this bandage to let it breathe and heal correctly."
"Thank you... Nic look in my pocket." I looked and saw about
$2,000 in total . "This all that's in there." I shrugged walking over to him.
"Miss Kelly, take that."
"No I can't your friend Tez paid me already."
"Nah I want you take it." Jace insisted pushing the money in her hand.
•
The next morning I woke up to an empty bed and a cool breeze against my skin, I sat up and saw the balcony door open.
I slowly made my way outside and saw Jace looking down at the private pool and beach.
"Are you okay?" He asked with all his attention fixed on the view.
"It's really beautiful here. It's so peaceful and We've got this amazing view." I said, he nodded and finally looked back at me. He looked me up and down before turning his attention back to the pool/beach.
"You getting fat as fuck." He mumbled, I frowned and slapped his arm hard. "Stop saying that!"
"I'm just playing baby." He laughed turning to me. "Don't touch me Jace!" I snapped as he reached for my waist.
"Jace stop!" I yelled slapping his hand away as he squeezed my ass. "Shut up. This my ass I can squeeze it whenever I want."
I playfully rolled my eyes as he kissed on my neck and rubbed my lower back and ass. "You're so annoying."
"And you're sexy as fuck." He said serious picking me up and carrying me back into the room.

Moonshot
Gregarious businessman Evin Tumble is fascinated by the sudden and inexplicable appearance of a low-orbiting moon. Specifically, he's interested in shooting it down with a giant cannon. The moon is only about eight miles overhead, but it's high enough and quick enough that nobody can reach it by balloon or airship. He hires our protagonists: taciturn Iseult Morrin, cheerful Sean Whelan, and nervous Íde Ceallaigh, to help him with his obsession. As our heroes are dispersed across the continent to perform tasks for Tumble, and the moon-hunt draws closer, they become increasingly suspicious of their benefactor's motives and true nature. Moonshot is a story centred around struggling with confidence, the difficulty of being an immigrant, and the duality of truth, all clad in the trappings of an urban fantasy. It is character-driven, from the heart, and based on tropes and ideas that are missing from a lot of contemporary fantasy (a push beyond the flawless-yet-somehow-still-needs-rescuing-by-an-oafish-man heroine trope, a touch of cosmic magic based on the shared geometries of Celtic and Arab art).
