Just over a year after Justin and Hailey Bieber tied the knot at a New York City courthouse, the two announced their separation in posts to their respective Instagram accounts — a platform the pair previously used to regularly display their affection for one another.

Now, Justin has filed for divorce from his wife in California, citing "irreconcilable differences," and his initial decision to not have a prenuptial agreement may play a big role.

A legal expert tells us that Bieber's premarital assets, per California law, will remain his, but it is likely every asset collected after they married is to be considered marital and may have to be equitably split with Hailey. He adds that Justin and Hailey's divorce is likely to be smoother as the couple share no children.

The filing comes as Justin sparked cheating rumours after being spotted getting close with fellow pop star Adira — who is also close friends with Hailey.
