"It's hard to imagine that, when joined with their siblings, they're as powerful as God," Rip said to the legends that were huddled around the table in the room, Callie and Sara both holding their two pieces of the spear in their hands.
"But right now, that's just a useless piece of wood, "Jax sighed, looking at the two assassins flipping them over in their hands. Sara and Callie shot each other a look, knowing exactly what the other one was thinking about the pieces of wood.
"It's not useless," Sara murmured, throwing her piece to Callie and allowing the girl to hold both in her palms.
"I know ten different ways to kill somebody with this," the raven-haired girl told the rest of the team as she felt their weight. Her and Sara shared a small flirty smile while the rest of the team groaned at their interaction before Mick coughed from behind them.
The man was clutching his usual beer as he came to stand in between Callie and Sara, a grunt on his lips as he walked up the stairs to the small room. "Not to mention, it's great for scratching in those hard-to-reach places."
Everyone shared digested looks as Ray turned fully to face the man, a perplexed look on his face at what Mick was suggesting that he had done with their two pieces of the spear.
"Please don't tell me you used the Spear of Destiny as a back scratcher," the scientist said, praying that whatever was about to come out of Mick's mouth wasn't going to be the reason he even regretted asking in the first palce.
"Who said anything about my back?" Mick asked, taking a swig of his beer. Callie and Sara shared a look before they both instantly dropped the wood, Callie feeling almost ill at having held on to it for so long. Jax shot her a sympathetic look as she moved away from Mick and went to sit in the armchair at the side of the room.
"Well, as Mr. Rory has demonstrated, in the wrong hands, this divine artifact can be - put to truly horrific use," Stein summarised, looking around at the rest of the team while he tried to sound almost in control of the whole situation. Callie rolled her eyes slightly before looking to where Sara was now leaning on the table.
"Which is why I called this meeting, to figure out how to keep it out the Legion's hands," she agreed with Stein, ignoring that she could literally see Callie checking her out despite the heaviness of the situation they were currently in. Turning to raise an eyebrow at the girl, she shot her a warning look.
Callie raised her hands in defeat before looking around at the rest of the team as she took a sip of her water. "Where's Nate?"
The rest of the team looked around, surprised that they hadn't realised that the man of steel was not in the room when usually he would be the one leading the conversation. Callie almost felt bad at the fact it had taken them a while to notice his absence, but reminded herself that he had just witnessed the death of his grand-father.

"Nathaniel said he wasn't feeling up to socializing. He said he'll go along with whatever we decide," Amaya softly told the team, still upset about their previous conversation regarding her past and future.
"What is there to decide? We find the Legion, and we steal back their pieces of the spear," Jax argued, knowing that there wasn't anything else they were capable of doing at this point in time.
"There's no need to find the Legion.I know where they've been operating out of," Rip told them all, a grimmance on his face as he looked at the team. Ignoring Callie's sudden offensive position, he looked around. "The reason why you've been unable to locate Mr. Thawne and his partners all this time is because they've been operating outside of it."
"You lost me," Mick noted.
"Yeah, me too," Callie agreed, confused at what Rip was trying to say.
"Three," Sara muttered.
"What's the one place that exists outside of time?" Rip asked them all, waiting for the ball to drop. It was Jax who realised first, something that pleased but also surprised Callie.
"No way."
"Yes way. We must return to the Vanishing Point."
____
Callie waited for the team to arrive back on board as they returned from the Vanishing Point. Having not been there before, and with her bloodlust nature wanting to try and kill the three legion members, it was voted that it was maybe best for her to just stay and pilot the ship for a quick exit.
"Piece of cake." Rory said as he was the first to walk into the brig. Callie smiled, glad to hear that they had found it had gone well.
"Whoa, you thought that was easy?"
"No, I want a piece of cake and a beer."
Callie sighed before she moved to stand beside Sara. The girl smiled warmly at her, giving her hand a quick squeeze before they turned their attention back to the pieces of the spear.
"Later, where's the spear?"
"There we go," Rip murmured as he placed all of the pieces down beside each other. Callie watched as the table vibrated slightly, the pieces almost seeming to be humming as they sat so close to each other.
"What is that?" Callie asked, confused as to how wood and metal could make that noice, even if it was a holy artefact.
"That's power. The pieces of the spear are calling to each other. They long to be whole," Rip told her, but also the whole team as they watched the spear glow slightly. The room shook for a second before there was a zapping noise and the spear seemed to connect to form one.
"Yep, that just happened!" Jax said, grinning slightly at what he just witnessed. Callie wasn't so sure it was a good thing, and she was definitely aware that the small murmuring noises that she was hearing from the spear obviously weren't being heard by the rest of the team.
She almost felt drawn to the spear, and it was taking everything in her power not to reach over and pick it up. Taking a small step backwards, she noticing the urge fade ever-so-slightly. There was something about being so near to the object that was unnerving to her.

"Well, that's remarkable. The spear must be composed of some kind of magnetized compound which acts as its own sealant," Stein murmured, reaching out to touch it to try and look at the science in it. Callie twitched at his aciton, something that didn't go unnoticed by Amaya. The woman shot the girl a confused look before Rip interrupted.
"No, no, no, don't, don't, don't. Don't touch it. Now that the spear is whole, it will try and lure each of us to use it. It will draw on our weaknesses, our desires, our regrets. It will promise each of us that we can remake the world just as we want it," Rip said, trying to avoid from looking at Callie. He knew that he would need to speak to her privately about how the spear was going to try and use her bloodlust to get her to activate it more than anyone else in the room.
"Well, what's wrong with that?" Mick argued, and Callie couldn't help but understand where he was coming from. She would do anything if it meant saving her brother and Laurel. "What? Oh, come on. You're all thinking it."
"Absolute power corrupts, Mr. Rory. Even when used with the best intentions, which is why I'd attempted to destroy it," Rip informed the man, motioning to the now fully formed spear that lay in front of them.
"Well, maybe you didn't try hard enough," Mick reasoned, raising his gun and without warning torched the spear. The rest of the team yelled at him, moving backwards from the small blaze as they stared at the table. "You said destroy, so I destroyed."
"It's not destroyed. It's not even charred," Sara noticed, causing Callie to move from the armchair and walk towards the spear. She felt like the chanting had dramatically increased, and without thinking, her hand moved forward and touched the wooden handle.
Rip watched her cautiously from the corner of his eye as he explained why the spear was simply unharmed from Rory's fire.
"Any harm brought upon the spear is temporary. It will always heal itself," he explained, sighing as he turned fully to face the ex-assassin.
"Wait a sec. There's something written on it," Amaya noted, moving the spear around in Callie's grip to show them all the red burning letters that were now engraved into the handle. The team leaned in, confused about what had been written on the spear.
"Natum de sanguine, perditus a sanguine," Amaya breathed, Callie and Sara sharing looks of confusion. Callie was regretting ignoring their latin tutor that Mr Queen had provided them all when they were younger.
"Anyone know Latin?"
___
Callie tugged at the sleeve of the fabricated costume, fixing the shoulder on Sara. They needed to collect the blood of Christ from where it was laying in the middle of the battlefield. Callie wrapped her arms around Sara's neck, not wanting to let go of her.
The raven-haired Merlyn wasn't allowed to join them on the battlefield. After a lengthy conversation with the rest of the team regarding her bloodlust, it was decided that the safest option was to keep her onboard the Waverider with Jax. The boy was more than happy to stay with her, knowing that she would be remarkably anxious for Sara like he was for Stein.
"Come back to me," Callie whispered against her lips, trying to act like Sara wasn't about to walk into the middle of a literal warzone. They had handled many things before, but Callie knew the harsh reality when it came to the first World War.
"Always," Sara muttered, pressing her lips back into Callie's.
There was a small cough from the door as Rip stood, awkwardly looking away from them as he held his army hat under one arm. The two assassins smiled sadly at each other, Callie allowing Sara to pull away from the girl.
There was a short moment when Sara looked back and they made eye contact, that Callie thought something was going to go terribly wrong. But there was nothing she could say, for Sara was gone. She was going straight to No Man's Land.
___
Callie ran to the cargo bay, throwing her arms around Sara as they all rushed back on to the Waverider. She had heard everything over the comms, and was well aware that Mick had betrayed them once again for Snart. The man had swapped sides, passing the spear straight to their enemies, including Darhk and Thawne.
"We never should have set foot on that battlefield,"
"We didn't have a choice," Sara sadly muttered as she looked across at Callie. The raven haired girl was resting against the side of the room, her eyes shut and arms crossed as she tried to focus on anything but the anger that resided inside of her.
"That's not true," Amaya argued, rolling her eyes as she angrily turned to face Sara. "There was a choice, and you made the wrong one, and now the Spear of Destiny, the most powerful weapon in all of history, is in the hands of not one, but four psychopaths!"
"Don't forget Mr. Rory," Rip pointed out, knowing that this was partly his fault too. If he hadn't convinced them that using the spear wasn't the right option then maybe this would never have happened. Now that the legion had the spear, there was no chance that they were going to live.
"That's right. We trusted him, and he screwed us over!" Stein growled, but Callie shook her head. She opened her eyes as she allowed herself to glare across the room at him.
"Did we trust him? I mean, admit it, we never really did, and he picked up on it."
The team continued to bicker for a moment, eventually settling on the hope that the Legion wouldn't know how to use the spear in the end. Sadly for the legends, they were unaware that the spear had just been activated at that very moment.
