《Whatever》Chapter 30

Carter only smirked as he sent a wink my way while I glared at him so hard I thought he would burst in to flames. "Take a picture. It'll last longer." he said with his smirk growing by the second. I replied before taking a sip of my tea, "I would but I don't keep pictures of trash in my phone." He sent a scowl my way as he went to pick up his cup of tea. After a few moments of silence between us, I set down my cup and asked while looking at Carter seriously, "What are you doing here Carter?" His lips barely touched the cup when he froze as he stared at me.
Slowly, he put the cup down and said while staring back at me, "I came to find you." I rolled my eyes and pushed, "Why?" Carter let out a sigh as he averted his eyes from mine. Pouring another cup of tea for me, I cradled it in my hands and blew on it as I eyed Carter who kept clenching his fist and jaw.
Staying silent, I continued to just sip my tea while waiting for Carter to explain himself, to let him know that I'd be waiting for his answer anytime he was ready. After about 15 minutes of silence, I got agitated by the silence and my skin start to get all prickly as I could feel my body temperature sky rocket. I set down my cup harshly as I stood up and practically sprinted to the bathroom. I had just opened the door when a hand prevented it from opening it further. Gulping, I already knew what was going to happen if I didn't take a cold shower fast. I said with my voice shaking, "Carter," He let out a low growl as soon as his name escaped my lips which sent a delicious shiver down my spine, cooling my skin in the process.

Swallowing a lump in, my throat was suddenly quenched for thirst. I tried to open the door once more but Carter wouldn't have it. He spun me around and pinned me against the door with his nose already at my neck. His hot breath made contact on my mark which made my knees buckle. I clenched my jaw tightly and shut my eyes as his nose left a trail of sparks by moving the tip down slowly till his lips reached my collarbone.
Involuntarily, I allowed him to have more access to my neck whilst I bit my lip to surpress the moans threatening to escape my lips. Carter stopped his torment and pulled back as I lifted my heavy eyelids that were, for sure, complete with lust. Carter cupped my cheek and spoke softly with his eyes dark with emotion, "Take a shower. Then we'll talk." He stepped forward and placed a gentle kiss on my forehead which made me sigh in content before he made his way back to the living room.
With my breathing heavy, my body covered with sweat, I quickly went in to the bathroom to take a needed cold shower.
Forty minutes later, I stepped back in to the living room to tell Carter I would start on dinner now but was greeted with an empty room. Confused, I was about to check outside when I smelt a delicious aroma. Following the aroma, I looked in the kitchen and couldn't help the small smile forming on my lips when I saw Carter standing in front of the stove with a white apron on. Leaning my head against the door frame, I took in the sight before me, wondering if Carter hadn't rejected me, this was what I would face for the rest of my life.

Another loss.
"Hey, you okay Jess?" Carter asked as he turned to look at me over his shoulder with a wooden spoon in his hand. I nodded my head as I went to get out the plates and cutlery but stopped when a hand grabbed my wrist. I turned back to look at him questioningly as I asked, "What?" He said with eyes trained on mine, "Sit." I stared back at him as I said with my eyes rolling, "I'm not a dog Carter." Seeing his mouth open to reply, I knew exactly what he wanted to say but cut him off and said, "Don't even say it." Carters' mouth closed shut as his eyes twinkled knowingly. I rolled my eyes and went back to take the plates and cutlery but again, Carter kept his hold on my wrist.
I smiled a sarcastic smile and asked while looking at him, "What now?" Carter pulled me away from the cupboard and seated me at the table before kissing the top of my head and saying softly close to my ear, "Let me treat you love." My cheeks must've reddened because Carter chuckled and placed a light kiss on my cheek, sending sparks crawling all around it.
After a few minutes, Carter set down a bowl of spaghetti drenched in tomato sauce with the meatballs sitting right on top. My mouth practically dropped when I saw it and my stomach was growling so loud Carter said while smirking, "That hungry huh?" I smiled sheepishly and started to put some of it on my plate before digging in.
Forty-five minutes later, I had just finished cleaning up the table and washing the dishes when, "Jess? Can I talk to you?" I wiped my hands with a cloth nearby before heading towards the living room where Carter was wiping his face with his hands as his jaw was clenched tightly. My eyebrows furrowed in concern as I asked while taking a seat next to him, "Hey, what's wrong?" I jumped back in alarm when he growled while looking at me before grabbing me by the waist and seating me in his lap. I struggled to get off as I said, "Carter! Let go! What's wrong with you?"

Chronicles Of The Storylord: 12th Chronicle - Origin
Twelve souls were chosen to expand into the void surrounding the known universe(s), and were given a grace period in which they would experience a relatively safe expansion of their domains. Once that period is up, however, they are free to interact with each other...and what lurks in the depths of the Abyss, the Void, and the Primordial Chaos. I am the 12th soul, but I am not as those others are, for I am merely a shard. My purpose: begin the Tale anew. For I am the Storylord, and I am the Tale. The Tale is all, and all is the Tale, yet the Tale is myself, for I am all in my domain. This is my story, the saga of many, the legend… of the Tale. Just remember this: “This world is but a story, and all the stories are true...” This story is in the same general multiverse as RE: Deity by lightningwarrior21, but will be almost completely separate except in a few chapters. I have permission from him to use his base multiverse, and you should go check out his fiction, it’s really good. http://royalroadl.com/fiction/9597 This ‘fiction’ will be updated sporadically, so don’t expect much of a steady stream of chapters. (I’ll try to do one chapter a week, but no promises.) Suggestions on how to improve this universe helps with the management, so comments are welcome, as are Grammar Nazis. I’ve had this fiction mostly as scattered notes in my google drive, and only recently had enough time to actually put it together, like I promised lightning back in January. (Writer’s block and schoolwork do not mix well.) The cover is not owned by me, I found the image on google images. Anyway, I’ll be back yesterday… or was that tomorrow? (I really need to get that damn causality generator fixed, me-damnit!) See ya!
