Later that night, Jackie woke up screaming "NOOOO!!!" Over and over again. I climb up and hold her close to calm her down. She starts sobbing.

"Shhhh, Jackie it was just a bad dream." I whisper to her and he shakes her head, still blubbering.

I started singing one of the only songs I remember from my favorite book: The Hunger Games, Rue's Lullaby. (Song in YouTube video above)

Deep in the meadow,

under the Willow...

On a bed of grass...

I continued singing the whole lullaby and Jackie was asleep again after I finished. Usually Beth was the singer. I tuck her in and just noticed I just revealed my...soft side? I can't have those. But Jackie is an exception, whatever happened to her must've been horrible.

I get back into my bed and fell asleep somehow with billions of questions bouncing off the sides of my skull. Sound like it hurts right?

The next morning, I got dressed in my gray flannel cardigan and buttoned it up and wore leggings and combat boots. Jackie woke up and hugged me as we walk to the cafeteria for breakfast.

I sat down next to Carl and he handed Jackie and I a breakfast bar. I thanked him and started eating while Jackie wolfed it down in a matter of nano-seconds.

"Here, have the other half of mine." I say as I break my bar in half and gave her the side I didn't bite out of.

"thanks!" She says cheerfully and she ate that one up too.

I wonder how many days she had to go without food.

Later, I was in the guard tower with Carl, talking about the bad people Jackie was talking about.

"It's horrible that she had to see her family die at only age eleven." I say and Carl nods.

"Should we be worried about this group Jackie keeps talking about?" Carl asks me and I shrug.

"I think I find it concerning. But I don't know if they'll mess with us, we don't know anything about this group other than they're total, demented craps." I say, unsure.

There was a long silence between Carl and I.

Carl broke the silence. "About last night...are we boyfriend and girlfriend now?" Carl asks me and I walk up to him and smash my lips to his. Carl smirks when we pull away. "So...I'm taking a guess here, I'm guessing you mean yes?" He says quirkily and I smirk.

"Did the kiss give it away?" I joke.

"YES!!!" I heard Beth scream from below and we started laughing.
