《Wanna Join a Band? (TodoBakuDeku)》Chapter 7

Izuku sprinted into the bar, nearly knocking right into someone else.
"Whoa there, why such a rush buddy?" The person asked, grabbing Izuku's arm before he could trip and fall.
"Oh jeez, I'm sorry- Oh, hey Kirishima!" Izuku said with a bright smile.
"Hey Midoriya! What're you doing here?" The redhead asked, seeming slightly confused.
Izuku pointed a thumb behind him, towards the bar. "I'm a part time bartender here, I had to come in today to train someone new. Why're you here?"
Kirishima sent him a sheepish smile, scratching the back of his neck. "I guess I'm someone new." He answered.
The green haired boy's eyes lit up at his words. "Wow, really? I guess it really is a small world, huh?" He said, somewhat excitedly. He didn't know Kirishima very well yet, but he seemed like a really good guy. Izuku was just happy that he didn't have to deal with any bitchy trainees again.
"Mhm." Kirishima hummed back, a smile still present on his features.
"Well, we should probably get started, sorry for being late." Izuku apologized, leading the other male to the bar that was on one side of the room.
Kirishima shrugged it off, not seeming bothered. "Don't sweat it dude, life happens sometimes." He told the green haired boy.
Izuku smiled at the understanding redhead, thankful that he was the one he had to train and not someone who would freak out over the little things.
The two spent the next hour or so making different drinks and going over the basics of the bar they were working in. It wasn't anything special really, and both were just part time bartenders, so they didn't have to much to worry about.
"Well, I think we're good for today. You might have to come back in tomorrow or something as like a review before they schedule you, but other than that you should be all set." Izuku said tiredly. He had been standing behind the bar helping Kirishima for a while and it always tended to take a toll on him. It was just a lot of standing around.
"Ok, cool dude. Thanks for the help!" Kirishima said back, just as cheery as when they first started. Izuku had no clue how he did it.
Before Izuku left, Kirishima bumped his shoulder and nodded his head towards the small stage that was across from the bar. "You said this place has live music sometimes, right?" He asked the shorter boy.
Izuku nodded. "It's kind of hard to find bands lately, so we don't have artists often, but whenever the manager finds someone they like, we do." He explained, completely forgetting the fact that Kirishima, was in fact, a bassist for a band.
"Well..." Kirishima started with a smirk. "I do happen to know a few people in a band that're looking for a gig..."
Realization flashed across Izuku's face. "Oh yeah! I totally forgot about that." He said, mentally face-palming. He had literally just talked about the band that morning with Katsuki and Shoto, how could he forget?
"Yeah, do you know where the manager would be right now? Y'know, so I can ask them about it?" Kirishima asked with a small chuckle at how forgetful Izuku was.
The green haired boy shook his head to clear his thoughts. "Oh um, it's a Saturday so... I think Helix is probably just working in the back," he muttered, more to himself than to Kirishima.
"Okay, thanks again dude!" Kirishima said, already heading towards the back.

Izuku's eyes widened as Kirishima disappeared into the back area of the bar. "Wait! Kirishima, wouldn't-"
A loud crash cut him off.
Kirishima came running back into view a few seconds later. "What the hell was that?!" He asked Izuku.
The green haired boy was bent over laughing. "That- That was Helix. Don't mind her too much, she's kind of crazy." Izuku informed the taller boy, who was panting next to him.
"I heard that!" Helix shouted from the back, the sound of shattering glass followed her words.
"Didn't say it quietly, did I?" He shouted back, dragging Kirishima out of the bar completely.
Once they were safely away from their boss, Izuku let go of the redhead and was still lightly chuckling. "Sorry about Helix, you'll get used to her." He said.
Kirishima nodded with a smile. "I hope so. Guess I'll just talk to her tomorrow or something." He said with a shrug, not seeming to be in a rush to talk to the woman again.
"Yup. Well I'm gonna head home, so I'll see you around!" Izuku said with a wave, heading in the direction of his house.
"Oh wait! I'll come with you seeing as there's supposed to be band practice today." Kirishima informed him, jogging a little to catch up with Izuku.
The green haired boy's mood had taken a sudden shift at the news. If wasn't that he didn't want Kirishima to walk with him, it was that he had said there was band practice. Which meant a lot of loud noise and no sleep for Izuku.
'Why am I even tired already? I slept like... I don't know, but it was a lot of hours last night.' He thought to himself, trying to stifle a yawn so Kirishima wouldn't notice.
When they got back to the duplex, they bid each other goodbye and Izuku went up to his portion of the house. He nearly screamed in surprise when Shoto and Katsuki were just casually sitting on his couch.
"What the hell are you two doing here?!" He yelled, gaping at the two boys.
"Waiting for you to get back. Katsuki's determined to talk about the ex boyfriend and I didn't want to leave him up here alone because he has a habit of sticking his nose in places it doesn't belong." Shoto explained with a nod towards the recording studio the two had discovered earlier.
Izuku wrapped his arms around himself and softly groaned. He really didn't want to deal with them at that moment. "First off, you both live right below me, you could have waited in your own house. Second, there's nothing to talk about."
"Deku, he gave you a black eye and you failed to mention it." Katsuki said, speaking up for the first time as he slipped his phone into his pocket. "Did he do anything else that you're keeping to yourself?" He asked with a raised brow.
Izuku's eyebrows pushed together at the question. "What? No! He punched me and then broke up with you. I can't exactly be a threat to a nonexistent relationship." He shot back, seeing the questions and concern as pointless now. "And besides, why would I have told you? We weren't exactly buddies." He added, looking quite uncomfortable with his statement.
"He's got a point Kat." Shoto chimed in, not seeming invested in the conversation. He was merely observing.
Katsuki scowled at him for not being on his side. "But you said it was after I apologized, so why wouldn't you tell me?" He asked, pressing for answers.

Izuku seemed to be scrutinizing him with his gaze. "Are you serious? High school might have been mellow between us, but you had apologized the day before that and I don't know if you remember the apology, but I do. It kind of sucked. I wasn't even positive if you actually meant it or if your mom just forced you to say sorry. I was still scared of you, Kacchan. You weren't exactly the most approachable person. I was scared you'd freak out at me and think that I was just trying to destroy your relationship. I already had one black eye, I didn't want another." He said, wrapping his arms tighter around himself in an attempt to stay calm and not run off from his own house.
"Well we definitely walked in at the wrong time."
Izuku snapped his head around to see Kirishima, Sero, Kaminari, and Shinso all standing in his door way.
"Why are you all in my house? Seriously, you people have no boundaries!" Izuku exclaimed. "Besides you, Shinso, you can walk in whenever." He added, watching the purple haired male faintly smile at him.
"Should I be worried?" Kaminari asked the two of them in a joking tone.
"Oh terrified. If Midoriya isn't 'Mr. Steal your man', I don't know who is." Shinso said with a completely straight face, even as Izuku broke out in a fit of laughter.
"He has an open invitation because he knows better than to show up without food. Plus he helps me with homework sometimes." Izuku corrected with a shrug.
"You mean I do your homework when you pass out." Shinso said with a pointed look.
"This is great and all, but are we gonna circle back to the fact that Midoriya was worried Bakugou was gonna deck him or?..." Sero asked cautiously.
"No, I was kind of trying to steer away from that topic." Izuku explained, walking over to his desk and sitting backwards on his desk chair, looking between all the people in his house. "Now, why the hell are you guys here?" He asked, looking at the four newcomers.
"Bakubro texted and told us he was up here with Todoroki." Kirishima explained, shaking his phone in his hand.
Izuku shot a glare at Katsuki for that one. "Stop inviting people into my home. And stop inviting yourself too."
Katsuki didn't say anything, but Shoto spoke up. "We all know he's not going to."
Izuku let his head drop as he sighed. "I know, but it was worth a shot." Then he looked up at the other people and nodded towards his second couch. "Make yourselves at home I guess. I have a feeling I won't be able to get rid of any of you soon."
They ended up spreading themselves out on the couch, Sero sitting on the floor in the middle of the room when the couch filled up.
"I don't get why I got voted off the island." He whined.
Izuku shrugged. "My couch, my choice."
"But why me?" Sero asked.
"Well Shinso's probably my favorite person here," Izuku started.
"Thanks Mido, at least I'm someone's favorite." Shinso said with a sigh. Kaminari lightly smacked his shoulder.
"Kaminari is his boy toy, so I'm like obligated by bro code or something to let them sit together." Izuku continued to explain.
"Don't ever say bro code again, you're not a bro." Shinso said.
"And I like Kirishima more than you." Izuku finished, earning 'oo's from Kaminari and Kirishima.
Sero gasped and held a hand over his heart. "What could I have possibly done to you?" He asked in offense.
"Trying to circle back." Izuku said with a shrug before standing up and walking down his hallway.
"Wait, where's he going?" Kaminari asked, perplexed.
"Didn't he just get back from work?" Shinso asked Shoto and Katsuki, seeing as they were there the longest.
Shoto nodded in response.
"Then he probably went to get whatever sort of food he actually has." Shinso said with a shrug, just as Izuku walked back in with the container of cookies.
Which reminded Katsuki.
"You're stealing my fucking cooking and giving it to Deku!" He exclaimed, glaring at Shinso.
The purpled haired boy didn't seem phased. "Think of it like you're trying to make up for middle school."
"Okay! Jesus people, we're gonna stop talking about Kacchan and I's history, okay? I'm to tired to deal with all that right now." Izuku cut it, taking a bite of one of the cookies.
"You slept for like nine hours and you haven't even been up for five. How're you tired?" Shoto asked, actually seeming mildly concerned.
Izuku shrugged and took another bite of cookie. "Not a clue. Honestly, my body's probably just not used to it and is spazzing because it has no idea what's happening."
"I don't think that's how the human body works." Shinso pointed out.
"Well then, what's your great reason?" Izuku asked him, having his normal level of sass to his tone.
Shinso lazily looked over at him with a 'really?' type of look, before looking away and resting his head on Kaminari's shoulder. "You over slept. Your body isn't 'spazzing', but in short, you're tired because you slept too much." He said.
"Since when were you a doctor?" Sero asked lightly.
"I've done it before. Multiple times." Shinso said, not bother to look at him. He had let his eyes close while resting on his boyfriend.
"So let's not do it again, okay?" Kaminari said, shrugging a little to get Shinso to open his eyes.
Shinso had a habit of not sleeping for a long period of time, and then crashing and sleeping for ore hours than should be humanly possible.
"I hate you." Shinso said softly.
"I know." Kaminari said with a smirk as he flicked Shinso's nose.
"Can you guys go be cute in your own house or?..." Izuku asked, resting his chin on his arms that were on the back of the chair.
"Nah, it's more fun in yours." Shinso answered his with a tired smirk when Izuku audibly whined.
"Please, just get out of my house!" He said burying his head into his arms.
"How much longer before we push him over the edge?" Sero asked, looking over his group of friends.
"I give it ten minutes." Kirishima said, looking over at the exhausted and upset looking Izuku.
"Five." Kaminari said with a smirk at the redhead.
Katsuki shook his head at both of them. "Dumbasses. It's Deku, you're not gonna get him to go over the edge. He's too fucking nice."
"Wow, thanks Kacchan." Izuku deadpanned. He knew it was supposed to be a kind of compliment, but the way Katsuki had phrased it made it sound like a bad thing.
Shoto looked over at the blond. "But we pushed him over the edge fairly fast last night."
There was dead silence in the room at his words.
"Well I guess we know why Midoriya's actually tired." Sero said with a snicker.
"Sero, get the fuck out of my house." Izuku said with an icy glare.
The black haired boy on the ground held up his hands, but made no movement to leave.
Katsuki cleared his throat, looking slightly uncomfortable by the way Shoto had phrased his statement. "First off, that's not what he fucking meant and you all know it." He said, shooting daggers at all his 'friends'. "Second, no we didn't. The fucker never got us to leave and we got him to actually sleep."
"Okay, new thing to circle back to. Between what Bakugou just said and the fact Todoroki knew how much sleep Midoriya got last night, I have more questions." Sero said, raising his hand slightly. It went down immediately when Izuku glared at him again.
"Midoriya almost passed out on the stairs and Bakugou dragged him up here to try and get him to sleep. Eventually he did and we both ended up drifting off too." Shoto explained.
Izuku took mental note of the fact he called Katsuki, Bakugou around the others, which confirmed that they were, in fact, keeping their relationship a secret. He had no clue why though.
"Sounds fishy to me." Sero mumbled, not buying it completely.
"Was that why you were late today? Because you were asleep?" Kirishima asked, catching everyone's attention.
"Oh um, yeah." Izuku lied, leaving out the part where he had breakfast with Shoto and Katsuki.
"Wait, late?" Kaminari asked.
"Yeah, he works at the bar I just started at." Kirishima explained with a bright smile.
"You... work at a bar?" Sero asked in a disbelieving tone.
Izuku shot him yet another glare. "Thin fucking ice, Sero. Thin fucking ice."
"Damn Sero, I've never heard him swear this much before." Shinso said, clearly amused with how easily the black haired boy seemed to be pushing Izuku's buttons.
"I'm not even trying!" Sero cried out.
"You work at a bar?" Katsuki asked, ignoring Sero, like usual.
Izuku rolled his eyes with a huff. "Why is that so hard for people to believe? I bartend part time."
"Oh shit, came you make, like, fancy drinks and stuff?" Kaminari asked, his interest peaked.
Izuku had to stifle his laugh at that question. "Yeah, yeah I can. And now, so can Kirishima." He said, totally throwing the redhead under the bus.
"Oh dude, that's so cool! You gotta make me drinks now!" Kaminari exclaimed, lightly nudging Kirishima's shoulder.
The redhead sent Izuku a small glare and he just smiled widely back.
"Speaking of the bar, they have live music." Kirishima stated.
"Were you actually useful for once?" Katsuki asked him with a raised brow.
Kirishima sighed and hung his head. "Well not yet, I have to talk to the manager tomorrow. She was... busy, today."
"Well that's cryptic." Shoto said.
Izuku nodded. "Helix is a very cryptic person."
"Who's Helix?" Kaminari asked.
"Our manager, she's batshit crazy." Kirishima explained, shivering slightly.
Izuku narrowed his eyes at the redhead. "What did you see in the back?" He asked.
Kirishima shook his head. "You don't want to know dude, you don't want to know."

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all.
