《Just for the Summer (TodoBakuDeku)》Chapter 2

Izuku's POV~
I quickly jumped out of his arms, worried that I was making him uncomfortable. Or I was just heavy. "Sorry about that! U-um, I'm just gonna- yeah. Bye!" I said awkwardly, grabbing onto Uraraka's wrist and pulling her out of the common area. Todoroki didn't say anything, just watched us leave with a still confused expression.
"I hate you so much." I said to her once we were in the safety of the elevator.
She giggled at me, not seeming bothered that she could have killed me. "Lighten up Deku! I dropped you directly into the arms of one of the hottest guys in 1-A. You can thank me later." She said as the doors opened on her floor. She got out, shot me a wink, and then the doors closed again, sending me up to my floor.
I quickly made it to my room, entering and shutting the door behind me. I leaned my back against it, letting out a long breath. The flustered feeling was finally catching up with me.
She wasn't wrong when she said Todoroki was one of the hottest guys in our class, and I obviously wasn't oblivious to that fact. God, and I was so freaking close to him! I was just... like in his arms! I knew that it was going to be super awkward the next time I had to see him. Maybe I could just avoid him until he went back home? Then I wouldn't have to see him until after summer and he'd probably forget about it by then.
Yeah, that was a good plan.
I spent the next few days tip toeing around the dorm building, being careful to avoid Kacchan and Todoroki. I knew Kacchan was probably mad for being stuck here with me and well, I'm avoiding Todoroki for obvious reasons.

Eventually everyone from our class trickled out and went home. I figured everyone besides me and Kacchan, and Tokoyami, he was staying too, were gone. I decided to head out of my dorm, not really bothering with being sneaky anymore. I just wanted some food. I really wanted some food.
I totally just wanted ice cream.
Down in the common area, Tokoyami was watching tv, Dark Shadow floating next to him, watching as well. I waved as I walked past and he waved back. Walking into the kitchen, I went straight for the freezer.
There wasn't any ice cream.
I looked through the whole, small freezer. There was nothing that even resembled ice cream. I nearly cried.
I shut it with a huff, not wanting to keep the disappointment open. I absently looked over at the counter and saw a tub of ice cream. It was sitting on the counter.
It was completely melted.
"Ah! Why has the universe cursed me?" I dramatically said, thinking I was the only one in the kitchen.
"Cursed you with what?"
The sudden presence of a new voice caused me to jump, nearly spilling the melted ice cream liquid. I quickly turned around to see Todoroki standing at the entrance to the kitchen.
"T-todoroki? Why're you still here? Weren't you going home?" I asked him, overly embarrassed from being caught talking to myself, along with the stunt Uraraka pulled a few days prior.
"I decided to stay here for... training purposes." He explained, but he didn't seem confident in his answer. It clicked in my head that he was probably staying to avoid his father.
After the sports festival, and finding about how nasty Endeavor was, I had tried harder to be Todoroki's friend. It actually wasn't that hard. He seemed really... starved for decent human interaction. He could act cold and distant with the rest of our classmates, but if you were persistent enough, he'd just give up and give in. I've even managed to make him smile before! It wasn't like, a full blown smile, just a small up turn of his lips, but it was definitely an accomplishment.

"Oh, well then, I guess we'll probably be seeing a lot of each other this summer then. Fair warning though, Kacchan's also staying so..." I said, trailing off. I knew that Todoroki could hold his own if they, for some reason, were to get into a fight, but I figured it wouldn't hurt for him to have a heads up.
"Yeah I know, I ran into him this morning. He didn't seem particularly thrilled that I was still here." Todoroki said, his voice monotone, like always.
I nodded in understanding and the conversation just died off. Neither of us really knowing what else to say. I was too socially awkward to be able to think up a new topic, and Todoroki wasn't exactly a people person.
"So why did the universe curse you?" He finally spoke up, walking the rest of the way into the kitchen and getting a glass of water.
I jumped at his sudden break in the silence. "O-oh, that? Um, someone left the ice cream on the counter and now it's all melted." I explained, showing him the tub of room temperature chocolate milk.
He looked from me to the tub, and then grabbed it with his right hand. It was frozen again in seconds.
My face broke out into a smile at the sight. "Whoa, thank you Todoroki!" I exclaimed, looking up at him.
He was looking in a different direction, his back against the counter and sipping his water. "You're welcome. It'll probably be a weird consistency from being unfrozen and then frozen again, but it's better than drinking it with a straw, right?" He asked, finally looking back over at me.
I nearly dropped the ice cream. Did he get hotter in the two seconds I looked away from him? Or was it just the water on his lips?
'I'm too gay for this.' I whined in my head.
"U-uh, yeah. Th-thanks again." I said, awkwardly looking away as my cheeks flared up.
I hurriedly left the kitchen. I kept my head down and scooped up some of my ice cream, not paying attention to where I was going. I accidently ran right into something, or rather, someone.
"Damn it Deku!"
