《Mending the Battle Wounds (TodoBakuDeku)》Chapter 23

"What?" Katsuki asked, completely baffled by the accusation. How was he the reason this time?
"You weren't the reason, Kacchan! Gosh, she was lying." Izuku said while crossing his arms. It wasn't a complete lie, at least not to Izuku. What Katsuki had said earlier the day of his attempt had affected him sure, but it wasn't the main reason he was up there. He was up there because he thought it was the only way to right all of his wrongs.
"Izuku," Katsuki said in a warning tone. He didn't want to ever be lied to, but especially about something like this.
"Whoa, that's new." Izuku mutter to himself.
"Not the point. Why'd she say it was my fault? Was it?" Katsuki asked, shutting down Izuku's attempt to change the topic.
Izuku groaned at the questions. He didn't like lying to Katsuki, but there was no way in hell he was going to tell him the truth about this. They were finally getting along again and he wasn't about to tell him something that could screw that up. "No, it wasn't your fault. Himiko is just trying to pin it on you because she hates you and she hates that I don't." He explained.
"You don't hate me?" Katsuki asked, a little confused about the answer.
Izuku sputtered at the question. "Yeah, I hate you Kacchan. I hate you so much, that I forgave you for all the crap you put me through, I constantly hang out with you even though there are twenty other people to talk to, I'm teaching you English, I had a panic attack when I thought you were going to jump off the roof of the gym, and I asked you for a spare uniform even though there were plenty of other people that would be closer to my size. I just hate you that much." He said, finishing with crossing his arms and waiting for Katsuki's response.
"Sounds like you have a crush on him or something." Shoto spoke up casually from his spot at the desk.
Izuku turned a deep shade of red at the comment and even Katsuki's face heated up a bit. "Shoto! What the hell? That doesn't mean I have a crush on him, I mean I do half that stuff with you to." Izuku pointed out, overly embarrassed about being called out like that.
"Oh, so you have a crush on me to?" Shoto asked with his head slightly tilted to the side in question.
"Shoto!" Izuku exclaimed, throwing his last pillow at the taller boy. His actions actually earned a small laugh from Shoto, which had Katsuki and Izuku frozen and staring at him.
"Oh c'mon, it's not the first time you've both heard me laugh." Shoto pointed out, throwing the pillow at Katsuki.
"Hey! Fuck you half and half." Katsuki said, catching the pillow just before it could hit his face and then throwing it back.
"What's with half and half? I thought you called him Icyhot?" Izuku questioned.
Katsuki became awkwardly quiet, so Shoto decided to tease him a little bit. "I told him that I didn't like it and he compromised with half and half." He said with a small smile.
"Awe, Kacchan! That's so cute!" Izuku cooed, wanting to tease the blond as well.
"So you think I'm cute? Does that mean half and half was right about the crush?" Katsuki shot back. That shut Izuku right up, his face becoming deep red again.
"He totally does." Shoto stage whispered to Katsuki, letting Izuku still hear him.

"No I don't! I can think someone's cute without having a crush on them." Izuku argued.
"So you do think I'm cute?" Katsuki said, a wicked smirk taking over his face at Izuku's small confession.
Izuku nearly died right there. "That's not- I didn't mean- I'm not saying- I just-"
Katsuki laid back on his bed, resting his hands behind his head with a laugh. "I'm joking, calm down." He said, finally letting Izuku take a deep breath of relief. "And don't worry nerd, you're pretty cute too."
And then Izuku died again.
"I'm not sure if I should be jealous or not." Shoto mused, watching the two of them with humor in his eyes.
Izuku recovered long enough to regain a fraction of his sass and confidence. "We cuddled Shoto, so no, you should not be jealous."
"Touché." Shoto said back with a nod.
"I'm sorry, what?" Katsuki spoke up, propping himself up on his elbows.
"He stayed in my dorm and didn't want me to sleep on the floor. Then he got cold and I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm pretty hot." Shoto said, igniting his left hand.
"Trust me, I've noticed." Katsuki mumbled to himself.
"What was that Kacchan?" Izuku asked with a knowing smirk.
"Nothing!" He insisted.
"Shoto, he thinks you're hot! Wait, why am I cute but Shoto's hot?" Izuku asked with a pout.
"That's why." Shoto said, pointing at Izuku being cute.
"Huh?" He asked back, not getting it.
"Because you're just cute, get over it nerd." Katsuki grumbled, still mad about Izuku calling him out for what he had said to himself.
"Why can't I be hot too though?" Izuku complained.
"Don't worry Izu, I think you're very hot." Shoto said as more of a joke, but Izuku's eyes still lit up.
"Haha, fuck you Kacchan! Shoto thinks I'm hot!" Izuku cheered.
"What the hell has my life come to?" Katsuki mumbled to himself.
"I have no clue but it could be worse than this, you know having a cute boy crushing on you and all." Shoto said with another casual shrug of his shoulders.
"Can you please stop saying I have a crush on him?!" Izuku exclaimed, looking for another pillow to throw.
"Who said I meant you?" Shoto replied, actually making Katsuki choke on his own saliva.
"The fuck is that supposed to mean?" Katsuki growled, starting to regret where this conversation was going.
"No clue." Shoto said while leaning back on the desk chair and closing his eyes, pretending like he couldn't care less about the conversation. In reality, he was trying to call his heart down before he went into cardiac arrest.
"Fucking half and half." Katsuki grumbled to himself, crossing his arms like a toddler.
"For the love of God, just call me Shoto." The duel haired boy complained.
"Why the hell would I do that?" Katsuki shot back.
"I call you Katsuki." Shoto pointed out.
Izuku started to drown out their bickering when he felt his phone vibrate. Looking over the notification, he realized it was Shinso asking if he wanted to hang out. He eagerly texted his friend back, agreeing and setting up a place to meet.
"Welp, you two are welcome to stay here, but I gotta go." Izuku said, moving towards his balcony.
"Where the hell do you think you're going? You're under dorm arrest or some shit, remember?" Katsuki said, sitting up on the bed and getting ready to grab Izuku if he tried anything.

"I've been stuck in here with minimal human contact for five days, if anything that's more damaging for my mental health. I'm sneaking out before Himi comes back. Now, you two can either come with me, or make this difficult. Which will it be?" Izuku asked, placing his hands on his hips.
Katsuki looked like he was about to argue against him sneaking out, so Izuku quickly added, "If you come with we get to hang out longer and you can both keep an eye on me."
"Well why the hell are we still sitting here?" Katsuki said, getting up and walking over to the balcony.
"Shoto?" Izuku asked with puppy dog eyes.
Throwing his head back in a groan, Shoto also followed them. "How are we sneaking out?" He asked.
"We're only on the second floor, we can jump." Izuku pointed out.
"Like hell you're jumping anywhere." Katsuki growled protectively.
Izuku held his hands up in surrender after he realized what he had said. "Okay, okay, I get it. Shoto could make like an ice ramp or something? Or we could just climb down?" He offered up alternatives.
"Ice ramp I can do, but I should probably go first to catch you both at the end, it'll build up a lot of speed going down." Shoto said thoughtfully as he tried to decide the best way to go about it.
Making ramps for himself were easy because he could control the icy at real speed to do whatever he needed and worst comes to worst, he could use his fire side to slow himself by melting the ice beneath him. With other people it would definitely be more tricky.
Shoto hopped over the rail a few seconds later, creating a ramp as he went. Once he was on the ground, he looked up to see Izuku jumping excitedly.
"That was so cool!" He exclaimed.
Shoto smiled to himself as the reaction. "Who's going first?" He called back up.
"I will!" Izuku said, still overly excited about the ramp.
Shoto nodded and Izuku carefully stepped over the rail, with the help of Katsuki, and sat down on the ramp. He slid down, picking up speed just like Shoto had predicted. He was only narrowly able to grab Izuku and stop him from landing painfully on the ground.
He hooked their arms together and pulled him to his feet, the momentum causing them to spin in a small circle as Izuku caught his footing. The green haired boy was laughing the whole time, thoroughly enjoying the ice slide.
"Seriously, you have the funest quirk." Izuku said, smiling up at Shoto.
The taller boy's nose scrunched up at the compliment. "You know that's not a real word, right?" He asked back, ignoring how his heart fluttered because of it.
Izuku lightly flicked his forehead while rolling his eyes. "Just accept the compliment and help Kacchan." He said, moving out of Shoto's arms.
"I don't need help!" Katsuki exclaimed. He didn't even need the ramp. He jumped over the side, using his own quirk to slow his fall.
Izuku would be lying if he said his heart didn't stutter at the side of him carelessly throwing himself over the side like he had.
"Kacchan! What the hell?" Izuku yelled after he was safely on the ground.
"What? I said you couldn't jump, not that I wouldn't." He pointed out.
While they were bickering, Shoto melted the ramp. He figured the school wouldn't be happy finding a mini glacier outside of Izuku's dorm and the dorm empty of the student who wasn't supposed to leave.
"You're stupid." Izuku said, hugging Katsuki suddenly. After a brief moment of surprise, Katsuki hugged back. Izuku was definitely the only one who could get away with even touching the blond and keeping all of his limps intact.
"Sure nerd." Katsuki mumbled back.
"Um, not to ruin the moment or anything, but Toga looks pretty pissed." Shoto said, looking at the livid blonde that was standing on Izuku's balcony.
"Izuku! Get your ass back here!" She screamed.
"Oh shit. Run!" Izuku yelled, letting go of Katsuki and dragging him along, Shoto right behind them.
"Dabi!" Toga screamed from inside Izuku's room.
"Well that's not good." Izuku said to the other two boys.
"Where the fuck are we going?" Katsuki questioned.
"2-B dorms." Izuku explained, running up to the building. It wasn't like the dorms were really spaced out or anything. They really just needed to turn a corner and they were there. Thankfully, Toga couldn't actually watch where they were going, so Izuku was hoping she wouldn't connect the dots right away.
They all ran into the common area of the 2-A dorms. "Why the hell are we here?" Katsuki questioned. He wasn't necessarily mad about it, but he was annoyed with all the 2-B kids that were just staring at them now.
"Yeah, why the hell are you here?" A certain bitchy blond asked from the kitchen. He was swiftly shut up by an orange haired girl.
"Don't be rude." She hissed at him.
"I'm confused why their here." Shinso said, meaning Shoto and Katsuki.
"They helped me, well try, to sneak out. Himi kind of caught us and now we should probably hide because she's totally hunting me down right now with Dabi." Izuku explained, looking around the common room anxiously.
Shinso chuckled at Izuku's answer. "Of course you failed to sneak out."
"It would have worked if Kacchan hadn't used his quirk! She probably heard the explosions and thought he was trying to kill me or something." Izuku grumbled, glaring at the blond.
"I would really appreciate it if people would stop thinking I'm gonna kill you whenever we're alone. If I wanted you dead, you would have been dead your first night here." Katsuki said, crossing his arms over his chest and glaring intensely at the floor.
"No I wouldn't." Izuku said offhandedly back.
"If I hadn't actually wanted you dead, then yes." Katsuki clarified.
"No, I wouldn't. Sorry Kacchan, but you can't kill me." Izuku said with a shrug.
They were all in the kitchen with Shinso, Monoma, and Kendo, so Shoto pushed himself up on the counter. "Anyone got popcorn?" He asked, directing it at the 2-B kids.
"Yes I can, not that I want to." Katsuki said, making it very clear he wanted Izuku alive and breathing. He wasn't sure what he had done, but he was pretty sure he was the reason Izuku was up on the roof earlier that week, even if the green haired boy had denied it.
"Kacchan, no you can't." Izuku said with a sigh.
"And why the hell not?" Katsuki shot back.
"Because you wouldn't have it in you. Even if you wanted me dead, you wouldn't have it in you to kill me, or anyone else. As you so love to point out, you're a hero and I'm a villain. You can't kill people anymore than I can. So no, I wouldn't be dead, even if you wanted me dead." Izuku explained simply.
"Well damn Izuku, way to just destroy his ego." Shinso said while handing Shoto a bag of popcorn they had been sharing.
"What does that have to do with his ego? Isn't it a good thing he can't kill people? He's a hero, I know I've been gone for a year, but you guys don't actually murder anyone still, right? Or did I miss something?" Izuku said, not getting why it was big deal that he had explained that Katsuki wasn't a cold blooded murderer.
He was brought out of his confusion by Katsuki ruffling his hair. "Fuck you and always being right." He grumbled.
Izuku turned to Shoto with a beaming smile. "I told you I was always right!" He said triumphantly.
"Yeah, yeah you did."
