《Gone》Chapter 16-Visions

Roman. Roman. Roman! Roman! Roman!!!
Virgil shot upwards, a sick feeling flowed through his body. He barely stopped to take in his surroundings before he jumped out of the bed he lied in and roughly shook Patton awake. "Ann?" Patton asked drowsily. "What goin on?" Virgil didn't stop to answer, grabbing at Patton's hand and pulling him out of his bed. "Ann? Is everything okay? It's still dark outside." Patton said, slightly more awake now as Virgil dragged him out of the room and down the hall towards Roman and Logan's room.
Patton's eyes widened when he realized where they were headed and the urgency in Virgil's actions. Were his friends in danger? Did Virgil have another vision? Of what? What was going on?
Virgil skidded to a halt in front of the door and tried to open the door but it had been locked. Eyes still wide with panic, he released his hold on Patton's wrist and began to do the spell he had used to escape his cell, days ago, and used it to unlock the door. As soon as he heard the lock click he threw the door open and ran into the room. The door slammed into the wall, causing Logan to shoot upward in the bed "Whose there? What's going on?" He shouted, one hand fumbled for his glasses, the other filled with a dark blue flame that he was ready to send towards the other two.
"Logan it's us!" Patton shouted before Logan could let go of the orb, "It's Ann and Patton!"
Logan relaxed and the flame disappeared, he placed his glasses on his face, "May I ask why you two have entered in such a way?" He left the bed and began moving around the room in search of proper clothing, for some reason he had a feeling he wouldn't be going back to sleep anytime soon.
'Wheres Roman?' Virgil asked
"He took Jezz out for a short ride," Logan said with a yawn, "It's what he does when he needs to think. Or sometimes he plays that silly instrument of his" Virgil ran out of the room before anything else could be said, the other two calling for him to stop and explain himself but he didn't. He couldn't. Virgil ran down the stairs of the inn, the owner greeted him but Virgil ran past him and out the door, Logan and Patton attempting to follow close behind.
He ran to the stables behind the building, but Jezebelle wasn't there and neither was Roman. Virgil pulled at his hair and kicked at one of the wooden posts in frustration and worry. "Virgil," Logan said, using his real name instead of the shortened trait name, "What's wrong? Is Roman in danger?"
'I don't know.' Virgil signed in return.
"Then what is the reason for such urgency?"
'Not all visions are the same,' Virgil signed, 'It doesn't always show me everything or sometimes anything.'
"I'm not understanding. Magic is like science and science is constant"

'Too difficult to explain right now. We have to find Roman.'
"He might not even be in danger. Roman is a strong swordsman, he knows how to protect himself. He's been out alone before and-" he stopped as Virgil began signing.
'So is Remus, so am I, stuff happens Logan. There's always someone better.'
"Ann, you're not even sure if Roman is in danger. Let's not-" Logan's voice faded away as a new image filled Virgil's head. He groaned and grabbed at his head, another wave of nausea flowed through him. More yelling except this time he actually saw something else. Jezebel was coming, no rider again. He really hoped that was enough proof for Logan.
Before anything else could happen he pulled Logan and Patton out of the way just as Jezebel came charging towards them. "Whoah! Calm down there, Jez!" Patton said as he jumped out of Virgil's grip to calm the horse. "Easy, easy. Good girl, what a good girl. Everything okay now you see?" As the horse began to calm Patton turned back to them. "Where's Roman?"
Logan looked between them worriedly, "Okay, you may be right Ann. Let's go find him, I apologize for my rudeness earlier" Virgil sighed with relief before sprinting back to the inn, the others close behind, so they could grab their shoes (Virgil hadn't given them time to grab them earlier) and Virgil's sword. Minutes afterward they were running back through the forest on the backs of their horses. Logan had cast a tracking spell and now an orb of light was leading them through the forest at high speeds.
'Roman. Roman. Roman! Roman! Roman!!!' Virgil heard again, his vision danced as he fought to keep last night's dinner down. He swayed slightly on Lucy's back but regained his balance as soon as he could and sped up more. Logan and the orb of light paved the way forward as Virgil and Patton followed close behind.
The orb came to a sudden halt and the others rushed to stop with it. Logan jumped off as soon as Poe came to a slow enough pace and following the orb which had begun moving slower. Again, Virgil and Patton followed his lead, quietly making their way through the forest. It took a minute or two but they finally found him.
Roman was struggling against a rope that bound him to a tree, a cloth muffled his cries as he glared at the people responsible for it all. Four men were gathered around a fire laughing and talking. Every once in a while one would make a jeering remark towards Roman making the prince angrier.
"They have Roman" Patton whispered with fear as Logan backed them away from the wall of bushes that kept them hidden.
"He seems unharmed though," Logan replied quietly, relief evident in his voice, "We need a plan. Virgil, you're their prince, make them let him go"
Virgil rolled his eyes, that wasn't exactly a plan. 'People think I'm dead. And I don't have my papers to prove I'm the Prince. They won't believe me.'

Logan sighed, "Alright, I was hoping it wouldn't come to this but we'll have to fight them off. If anything happens to Roman the king and queen will have all our heads." Logan looked through the bushes again before coming back, "Virgil and I will fend them off while Patton unties Roman, it's not much of a plan but it is all that is available to us in such a short amount of time"
Virgil frowned slightly, doubtful of his ability to fend off anybody. Even if he fought with his sword rather than using his magic, he wasn't confident in his ability to be useful at all. But he nodded along with Patton and prepared himself as best he could. Logan had them wait two minutes before he and Virgil jumped out to distract and fend off the group of men. Behind them, they could hear Roman's cheers continuing to be muffled as Patton worked at the rope.
Logan had resorted to magic as his weapon and was sending spell after spell at the men he fought against. Meanwhile, Virgil was fighting two men at once with his sword, praying and dodging each attack, and having trouble getting any of his own in. Suddenly one of the men Logan had been fighting joined in against Virgil, three to one, and these men were very talented. Moments later Virgil had been disarmed and thrown to the side, slamming into a tree as one of the men pulled Patton away from the ropes, he had nearly had them undone too, and the other two men joined the last against Logan, he too was soon trapped in a corner and unable to use magic.
"Aw look at that," One of the men teased, "Little Prince's friends came to save him after all,"
"Let them go you, villains!" Roman yelled, Patton had undone the cloth around his mouth allowing him to speak, "They're not important! They're nobodies, just a bunch of peasants I hired to help with my luggage! They're not worth the ransom you want like I am,"
"These don't look like peasant robes," one of the men commented as he took a handful of the cloak Patton wore. Patton whimpered slightly in fear causing the men to laugh.
"And this one doesn't look like a nobody," Another said as he grabbed Virgil off the ground and dragged him towards Patton. Virgil had frozen as soon as the man's hand had touched him and didn't unfreeze until he was pushed into Patton and it was them that held him instead of the men. "he looks familiar, like a somebody"
"He's not." Logan said from where he had been cornered, "He can't even speak, he's not anybody"
"Oooh, a so he's a mute somebody," the leader spoke, "Now why does that sound familiar. Virgil's eyes widened as he grabbed Patton's hand and held it tight. "He's the only one wearing the Dark Realm crest, the rest of you wear the Light Realm emblem." The man continued slowly, "Could it be possible that we have two little princes in our midst?" Suddenly the man reached out and grabbed Virgil, jerking him away from Patton and making him squirm and struggle to get away, but it was a fruitless endeavor. The men laughed as the three others called out his nickname, knowing better than to use his full trait name or real name.
Virgil continued to try and fight but suddenly froze. His eyes turned purple and he began shaking in the man's grip. The man holding him demanded he stop but he couldn't of course. And now his friends were shouting for the men to release Virgil but they didn't. Instead, they all watched as Virgil saw yet another vision, the strongest one he's gone through a while.
Virgill stopped shaking as suddenly as it began. His eyes faded back to their regular color and his skin turned paler than before. His legs gave under him and if not for the man holding him up he would have fallen. Virgil look around again, taking in the scene before raising his hands and beginning to sign something.
Neither Roman nor Patton recognized it but Logan squinted his eyes as it rang with familiarity. He gasped upon realizing what it was and shouted, "Virgil don't!" but it was too late. The spell had been cast and before anybody else could figure it out a lightning bolt struck the man and Virgil where they stood, both blown in opposite directions.
The man hit a rock and was out in an instant. Virgil hit the ground and rolled across dirt, the other men stared at it him surprise while Virgil's new friends shouted worriedly at him. Virgil wobbled on his hands and knees, he looked around again. Then lifted a hand and pointed two fingers at the man in front of Patton.
Zap. A bolt of lightning left Virgil's fingertips and hit the man. He moved onto the man in front of Roman next. Zap he was hit too. Now onto the last man left, the one in front of Logan who tried to move out of the way but failed. Zap, and he joined his friends on the ground.
For a moment the three Light Realm boys only stared at Virgil before Logan ran towards Roman and used a spell of his own to get the ropes undone quickly. "You idiotic buffoon! What were you thinking, fighting those men?"
"hey you don't know what happened," Roman defended
"Like you'd walk away from a group like that," Logan got the ropes undone and Roman smiled as he gave him a hug thanking him and assuring him that he was fine.
"Thanks for coming Drama Turd," Roman looked over at Virgil who, with Patton's help, had struggled to his feet, "Ann you don't look so good, are you alright?"
Virgil looked at the other prince in front of him, he lifted his hands to the air and signed one-word 'Visions' after that he had collapsed into Patton's arms, his whole world going black. He didn't even hear the others calling out his name before he was out like a light.

The Summoned - Complete
In a world of magic, ruled by many warring races, the human kingdoms are being pushed to the brink of collapse. In a desperate bid to gain the strength to stand on an equal footing with the other nations, they perform a forbidden ritual to summon combat slaves from another dimension. Unluckily for them, Mors Letus, recently named by their world's God of Death, was one of them. **** Warning **** This is a re-release (The Summoned) of the first book I wrote in partnership with my brother (who later forced the story to be pulled (It was released on his account here)). I have started writing my own version of the story (BOM: The Summoned) and will continue to primarily invest in that, though, now I have permission to re-release this one, I plan finish this as I have the drafts and it was close to the end of the first book. Many characters/scenes and events match/Will match BOM: The Summoned, especially in future arc's (Past Flatner forest). If you don't like spoilers, don't want to get confused between the two stories or hate first attempts at writing (god awful grammar/sentence structure and storytelling), I would advise against reading.

Magical elements and the like will not be a factor in most of the story until the very end. tl;dr: This is not fantasy, magic doesn't play a role in the story. --- Updates: Will try to post a chapter once every 2 days PS. This is my first novel so there might be several issues in various aspects which I might not notice so comments are highly appreciated. --- This is more to add pressure to myself rather than anything else... but anyways the story is now part of the pledge!
