Even though she wouldn’t need to pay rent in the next few months, and they would be set for a while with the original owner’s saving plus the wages she would be receiving in half a month, Yan Shuyu still understood the importance of having a stable stream of income.

Specifically, she has a 4~5 year-old little fart with her. Kids were the weakest; any small illnesses could wipe out all their savings. Yan Shuyu was feeling a lot of pressure and dare not be too relaxed. She rested for a few minutes at home before she turned on her computer and started sending out resumes.

After she was done with the resume, Yan Shuyu noticed that the original owner’s academic level was not remotely competitive. She skimmed through the wanted ads. Even though sales jobs required no specific skills, those positions still required a technical degree. Servers at a restaurant was better, high school diploma would be sufficient. Yet, Yan Shuyu had been a spoiled child her entire life, she’d rather starve to death than to be a waitress.

In order to add more “value”, Yan Shuyu decided to add her picture on the resumes. Granted, that could potentially backfire and draw the attention of creepy men, but it would also increase her chance of getting a better job. After all, this world valued good looks. She has to give it a shot.

After she was done with all those, the entire morning has passed. Yan Shuyu had sent resumes to all the companies that she was interested in. Now there was no more she could do other than waiting for responses. She rubbed her starving belly, stood up, and turned off her computer. The kindergarten would provide lunch for her instant son and she didn’t need to worry about that. Happily, she went downstairs to eat in the commercial street.

She felt a lot happily after she ate. Happiness could really be that simple sometimes.

Yan Shuyu went back to her apartment and took a nap. After her nap, she went window shopping in the mall by herself. Even though she had no money to buy any new clothes right now, she still had a relaxing afternoon.

She goofed around till 4~5 PM before she suddenly remembered that her instant son was about to get out of school. Slowly, she headed toward the kindergarten to pick him up.

The one on duty to hand the children back to their parents was the same Teacher Lin from this morning. She waved at Yan Shuyu from afar, “Yuanjia’s Mommy, you are here early today.”

The kindergarten let out at 5 PM; obviously parents who needed to work wouldn’t be able to get there on time. So after 5 PM, the kindergarten would arrange for teachers to be on duty and play games with the children until their parents went to pick them up. Naturally, as a single parent, little kid Zhang Yuanjia had always been one of the kids who stayed behind. All the kindergarten teachers had already grown used to him always staying until he was the only one left. So, they were quite surprise to see Yan Shuyu there so early.

Yan Shuyu didn’t think that much; she just thought Teacher Lin was being polite and friendly. She smiled and greeted her, “Teacher Lin, thank you for all your hard work again.”

“Oh, that’s our job.” As they exchanged pleasantries, Teacher Lin turned around and called out, “Little friend Zhang Yuanjia, your mommy’s here to pick you up!”

Inside the metal door, a group of kids were standing in line for the slide. They all turned around at the same time when they heard the call. Her instant son was especially excited and quickly ran toward his mother, except he was stopped by his little buddies on his way. Two kids whispered into his ears.

They were a little bit far away so Yan Shuyu couldn’t hear what they were saying. All she saw was the two kids running away, blushing, after they were done whispering. They even casted her another coy glance before they turned around. Her instant son’s eyes beamed while standing there before he ran and plunged himself into her arms like a bird returning to its nest.

Yan Shuyu was quite happy to have a little handsome boy throwing himself into her arms, even though the boy was still just half her height.

Yan Shuyu took the hand of her instant son, bid the teachers farewell, and headed home as they chit chatted on their way.

On their way home, Zhang Yuanjia looked up and voluntarily offered up what his little friends had whispered into his ear, “Mommy, Jiajia and Taotao said you are very pretty today. And that you are the prettiest mother in kindergarten.”

“Really?” Yan Shuyu was exuberant all of a sudden. She stroked her own cheek and was glad she had put a lot of effort into her makeup before she left the house. Cheerfully, she nodded, “Your little buddies sure have good taste!”

It wasn’t great to be a young mother, but now that she was labelled “the prettiest mother”, she felt redeemed.

Young Zhang Yuanjia didn’t feel that there was anything wrong with his mother’s reaction and proudly asked, “Mommy, will you come pick me up so pretty in the future too?”

High-spirited, Yan Shuyu replied, “No problem! I can for sure fulfill this wish of yours!”

The fully-contented mother and the perfectly-contented son continued their way home. Yan Shuyu, on the other hand, still did not plan on preparing dinner herself. As they arrived close to their apartment, she stopped her instant son and said, “Aiya, it’s almost dark outside, why don’t we eat out before we go home?”

Zhang Yuanjia looked at the sun that was still in the sky, his delicate face full of questions.

Yan Shuyu didn’t care about that, she patted her instant son on his shoulder and carried on, “Great, then it’s been decided cheerfully. Let me think about what we should have for dinner…”

Little kids naturally have a strong curiosity, and also easily distracted. On top of that, Yan Shuyu did not go easy when it came to tricking her son. Shameless, one might even say. Zhang Yuanjia felt that something was off, but couldn’t put his fingers on it so he quickly gave up and cocked his little head to help his mother in picking out a place for dinner. An idea came to him quickly. He looked at his mother with his eyes beaming and said, “Mommy, the hot pot place across the street from us is delicious. Let’s go get hot pot!”

“Oh, really?”

“Yes!” The little boy nodded forcefully and continued to stress, “Yuanbao loves it; and mommy loves it too!”

Yan Shuyu didn’t know whether the original owner loved it, but she loved it herself. Happily, she picked up the little kid’s hand and said, “Okay. Hot pot we go!”

And they said, kids from single families were very sensitive and mature faster. Yan Shuyu wasn’t sure if she agreed with that. The second male lead was quite sensitive in the novel. He even knew how to bully the male lead with his mother at his young age with all sorts of bad ideas.

Yan Shuyu, however, had found that second male lead really was not that bright of a kid. Never mind that he didn’t instantly realize his mother was not the original mother anymore. After they had spent so much time together, he didn’t realize anything was wrong and even asked to go shopping at the grocery store after they had finished hot pot – has her acting already achieved award-winning level that not even her own son noticed anything different?

Granted, this was beneficial as far as she was concerned. Less questions and troubles were always better. Yan Shuyu patted her full stomach and agreeably said, “Okay! Next stop – grocery store!”

This could also double as exercising after dinner. She didn’t even need to go under the knife to turn into a beauty queen; she must take good care of her body.

The little kid seemed to have an unusual passion toward grocery stores. Zhang Yuanjia, pushing the shopping cart that was taller than him, walked faster than the other adults. He tossed everything that caught his eyes into the shopping cart and only turned around for his mommy for help when he couldn’t reach certain items.

Yan Shuyu couldn’t afford anything from the mall, but she could at least afford items from the grocery store. She was very generous, and they finally brought home with them a big bag of fruits and snacks.

It was already 9 PM when they arrived home. As energetic as Zhang Yuanjia, he was still exhausted. He was just about to climb into bed before his mother complained, “You need to bathe first. Go look for your pajamas, I’ll go draw the water.”

Naturally, there’s no soaking bathtub in this apartment, but there is a very colorful mini bathtub. That must be the Zhang Yuanjia’s very own special tub.

Just when Yan Shuyu was finished up with drawing the hot water, Zhang Yuanjia, pajamas in hand, pitter pattered into the bathroom. Yan Shuyu did not have the self-awareness to bathe the little kid herself. Standing by the sink, she started removing her makeup. The little kid also seemed to be used to it, he took off his clothes and climbed into the tub on his own.

Within the small, cramped space, the unconscientious mother was removing her makeup systematically and the poor kid sat in the bathtub struggling to scrub himself. One adult and one kid each busy with their own agendas, but the scene was still very harmonious.

When Yan Shuyu was finished with her skincare procedure, little kiddo Zhang Yuanjia had also finished bathing himself, except it was very difficult for him to dry himself with his small arms. As much as he tried to contort his body, he wasn’t able to put his pajamas on by himself.

Knowing that Chen Jing was Yan Shuyu’s direct supervisor as well as the boss’s special guest room manager, the head of security was decent enough to give her a heads up about the incident.

Certain events in life, it was more troublesome knowing than not knowing. Chen Jing dare not have her employees work the night shift any more. Before she could sort it all out, she heard the doorman announcing through the intercom that Boss Zhou had arrived. Chen Jing quickly recollected herself and went out to welcome him.

The big boss seemed to be returning from another social event again. His ride tonight was a Rolls Royce. He got out of the car in full three-piece suit and carried with him a hint of alcohol smell. The smell of alcohol on him was smooth and slight intoxicating and was actually quite pleasing. Net worth of over hundreds of billions of dollars, handsome, and gentlemanly, no wonder Yan Shuyu couldn’t help herself – thought Chen Jing as the big boss nodded at all of them and said in a very friendly manner, “I came back a little late tonight. Sorry to keep you all waiting up for me.”

“No problem. This is our job.”

“Don’t mention it.” Everybody was pleasantly surprised and Chen Jing let out a sigh of relief to herself. The big boss seemed to be in good spirits. He must not be bothered by what happened the night before.

That’s great news. At least, she didn’t have to worry about him taking it out on her. Now she could just pretend that she had no knowledge of the incident.
