《Male Lead's Villainess Stepmother》Chapter 11 - The Late Husband Was An Eye Candy

Yan Shuyu, a commoner who once only had $200 left in her bank account, suddenly had money dropped into her lap and received a large amount of almost $10,000. On her way home, she was ata a lost and worried. She could only imagine that she’d be too worried to even fall asleep with this money in the house overnight.
What a sweet problem that she is having.
When she spotted a 24-hour ATM machine on the side of the road, she made an immediate decision to walk over with her instant son and said, “Let’s go and deposit our money into the bank.”
Yan Shuyu had never imagined herself being a good mother, but now that she already has this instant son of hers, she would try very hard to fulfill her responsibilities as a mother. This entire week, with her bank account being down to $200, she had no choice but to take her entire family to mooch the employee meals. Even though it was Manager Yang’s suggestion, her actions were entirely too proficient. She may be able to shamelessly leech off of her boss, but in front of her innocent son, she gritted her teeth and never mentioned a word in front of him.
Yan Shuyu had heard in the past that those from a single-parent family might be more inclined to have a more radical personality. Recalling about the novel, this villainous boss was, indeed, quite radical. As the boss’s stepson, he could just do some sort of investments. He didn’t even need to do anything and would still have enough money for life. What would be the one reason to fight over the inheritance with the rightful heir and finally ended up with his own tragic death in the middle of the street. Whatever for?
Now that Yan Shuyu had transmigrated over, she possessed the gorgeous look of the villainess stepmother, but not her ability to scheme, which was why she had no desire to be a fighter in the world of the wealthy. She felt that the best option was to suck it up for a few years and raise her son, then she would have her son to count on for her golden years.
This would, no doubt, be the longer path, but at least it didn’t require much skills. Yan Shuyu figured that she had a capable body. As long as she wasn’t aiming for a house and a car, she’d have no problem supporting herself and her instant son. Once her son had become successful in life, she would have her fancy car and fancy house, wowza!
The future was quite hopeful, but she must learn the lessons from the novel and protect the villainous boss’s physical and mental health. She had to make sure he’d become a positive and sunny youth who’d earn money to support his mother, instead of a dark villain who’d always have radical thoughts and went after what was not rightfully his.
It was very unfortunate that Yan Shuyu had never been a mother before. She already had a 3-year-old kid when she woke up from her sleep. She could only rely on her imagination to raise this child. She figured that someone who has an extreme and overly sensitive personality must have an inferiority complex. On the flip side of the token, if she wanted her son to become positive and proactive, then she must install confidence in him. Luckily, Yan Shuyu was a very optimistic person herself; she trusted that she would be able to instill that in him through her own actions and change his course over time.

On the other hand, she must be attentive to details as well. For example, she couldn’t let him know how poor they were. She didn’t want this to become a sore spot in him as that might lead to dire consequences.
As much as Yan Shuyu was serious like a person applying screen protector below a bridge*, she still couldn’t handle a mature little kid like Zhang Yuanjia. It was like he could see through it all. Now that they have some money in hand, his excitement level was no lower than that of Yan Shuyu’s. In fact, he was so excited, he was about to bounce up and down on the spot, “Yes! Let’s go put away our moola!”
(T/N: I am guessing that meant someone who was being super focused – like a professional screen protector sticker. Here’s a sample that you can see for yourself.)
Yan Shuyu was occupied by the joy of being rich and didn’t notice the small details. The mother and son pair bounced toward the ATM machine with identical excitement.
With a little bit of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Yan Shuyu added $200 from her card and made it a full $9,000, leaving $500 for expenditure in her wallet. Now that she was getting two meals a day at the restaurant, she trusted that this $500 could last her for quite a few days. Taking one more look at the amount in the bank, she felt a sense of completeness that she hasn’t felt for a while.
Carefully put away her ATM card, Yan Shuyu immediately picked up her instant son, who was standing on his tiptoes and staring longingly at the ATM screen. She returned to her usual generous self and said, “Okay, Yuanbao, mommy got paid. Let’s go out for a good meal, how about the hot pot place that we went to last time?”
She would save the opportunity to milk her new boss later~
Zhang Yuanjia had never objected to having dinner at the restaurant that his mother worked at, but his little face couldn’t help but beam, “Okay, okay! Let’s go to hot pot!”
There was a little snack shop selling sesame pocket shaobing with meat that was raved about online right next door. The line wasn’t very long in the early afternoon. She thought about how on the weekend when she didn’t feel comfortable leaving Zhang Yuanjia home by himself, she would always bring him to the restaurant with her, and how her colleagues would help her watch him when it was busy at the restaurant. She had just gotten pay today and should bring them something as a token of appreciation.

As soon as she walked inside the hot pot shop, she discussed with her instant son, “After we put in our order, you stay here and be good while mommy run next door to buy some snacks for the ge ge and jie jie at the restaurant, okay?”
Not only did the restaurant that Yan Shuyu work at have elegant and luxurious décor, it also has a very Western name – “Sunshine House”. With a kid’s voice, Zhang Yuanjia asked, “Are you going to Sunshine House by yourself?”
“Of course not. We will go there together on our way back after lunch.” After a slight pause, she added, “After that, we’ll go home, take a nap. Then you will go with mommy back to the shop to work. What do you think?”

“I think that’s okay.” The little boy has no other questions and waved his hand like a little adult, “Okay, mom, you can go buy yummy food now.”
“Alright, you sit here and don’t go anywhere, okay?”
Zhang Yuanjia promised he would. Yan Shuyu felt quite comfortable about that. The villainous boss had been a smart kid since childhood; the only time he acted out of character was when he ran into the big boss Zhou Qinhe an hour ago. Nevertheless, Yan Shuyu didn’t blame her instant son for that. In the novel, the villainous boss was the male lead’s father’s number one fan. He was more fanatic about him than even his own son. It was all meant to be, for better or for worse.
As long as the male lead’s father was nowhere close, Yan Shuyu trusted that her son was a very responsible child. Of course, she gave the server a heads up to keep an eye out on him before she took off. That’s what you’d call double safety.
The gorgeous looking mother and son pair was just here last week, sort of like returning customers already. They had almost made a lasting impression with the server. She gave her brightest smile when Yan Shuyu asked for the favor and said, “Don’t worry, Miss. It’s not busy in the shop right now, I’ll stand nearby to watch over him.”
“Thank you so much!” Yan Shuyu wasted no time in going over to stand in line.
After she had paid for the food and returned, Miss Server was really standing next to her son and somehow found a stuffed toy to keep him occupied. The soup base of the hot pot was already starting to boil and their food had come. The mother and son immediately started eating away.
When they were done eating and both of their stomachs were rounded from all the food, Yan Shuyu went back to pick up the freshly baked sesame pocket shaobing and went to Sunshine House with her instant son. Needless to say, everybody was excited to see them. As the shop was starting to get busy at that hour, Yan Shuyu didn’t cause them any trouble. She brought the food back to the employee’s lounge and left them there for everyone to help themselves whenever they freed up.
She didn’t see Manager Yang on her way out. Yan Shuyu wasn’t surprised; she already had it all figured out during the last few days. Manager Yang was only one of the owners; there were two other ones above him – his mother and his sister. The females of the Yang’s were quite competent, so in comparison, Yang Zifeng was more of a bum. Anyhow, his family was well off so he just needed to keep the shop running to keep himself busy. He did not go into the shop every day; it was extremely lucky for Yan Shuyu to run into Manager Yang in person the morning that she walked into the shop. Normally he’d come during dinner time, stick around for a few minutes, and call it a day.
In the manager’s absence, she told the supervisor directly, “You guys do your thing, I will take off now. I work nightshift today and will probably bring Yuanbao with me tonight.”
Yan Shuyu’s special privilege was approved by the manager so the supervisor didn’t object to that. She even looked forward to it as she pinched Zhang Yuanjia’s little cheek and said, “I’ll see you this evening then, you little cutie.”
And just like that, the mother and son returned home happily.
Yan Shuyu was young and healthy plus she was now in the food industry, naturally she doesn’t need an afternoon break. She only hurried because her instant son had gotten into the habit of an afternoon nap.
Once they arrived home, the little kiddo changed into his pajamas, brushed his teeth and washed his face all by himself to get ready for his afternoon nap. Yan Shuyu also changed and crawled into bed – it was more enjoyable to play on her cell phone while lying down. This was her last entertainment remaining ever since she has become a young mother.
After lying down today, Zhang Yuanjia wasn’t able to fall asleep right away like he usually did. There was something on his little mind, causing him to not be able to fall asleep even after a few minutes of closing his eyes. Finally, the little kiddo turned his head, blinked his large eyes and asked softly, “Mom, have you met dad before?”
“You are still awake?” Yan Shuyu look around, surprised. She said without having to think about it, “Of course I have met your dad. Where did you think you’ve come from? Did you think you came out of a rock?”
Normally, Zhang Yuanjia was a real sport and would laugh at any horrible jokes that Yan Shuyu dished out, but the topic about his dad was too heavy for the little kid. He just wasn’t able to laugh at that one. A little bit at a loss, he answered, “But I have never met dad.”
“Yes, you have. You just don’t remember him anymore, that's all.” She thought about how her instant son lost his dad so early in life, and his real mother was also switched on the inside. On certain levels, they shared the same experience. Yan Shuyu couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. Not only was she comforting him verbally, she even put down her beloved cellphone and pulled him into her arms to make him feel better.
Under his mother’s tender care, Zhang Yuanjia’s spirit lifted up a little. He then asked, “Do you think dad still remembers me?”
“Of course,” Yan Shuyu had no problem giving her late husband all sorts of props. “Yuanbao was daddy’s most favorite person. He would never forget Yuanbao.”
A little kid was easy to comfort after all. Zhang Yuanjia felt better quickly and became very curious, “Does Yuanbao look like dad?”
Did her instant son look like her late husband? Yan Shuyu was baffled as well.
Sure, she has the memories of the original owner, but it was a shame that she was not interested in someone who was already dead. The fact she had gone from a single girl to a widow was hard enough for her to accept; which was why she had never thought about the original owner’s husband ever since she had transmigrated.
Now that the little kiddo was prying, this was the first time that Yan Shuyu had thought about it. Her son’s dad seemed to be…. Oh my, so very handsome!
That very important point suddenly lit up Yan Shuyu’s curiosity. She put down the little dumpling (Zhang Yuanjia) and rolled off the bed before she rummaged through boxes and drawers and finally located a dust-covered marriage certificate at the very corner of a drawer. She opened up the certificate and in the picture with her was a refined and handsome and 100% pretty body!
Yan Shuyu was stunned. And in the next second, her heart ached so much she could barely breath. Her late husband was so handsome, he could at least waited until after she had transmigrated and ogled him for a while before he died…..
