From the way that Ye Rongchen was looking at her, Yan Shuyu had figured that he had regained his memories. Had he not regained his memories and was looking for her out of responsibilities, he would look the same as her and both of them would feel nothing other than awkwardness. Nevertheless, the way that he was looking at her was very complicated. It was a mix of many different emotions; anything but awkwardness.

Truth was, Yan Shuyu knew that it wasn't easy to be him. He had sustained severe injuries and, had he not been saved by his family just in time and provided him with the best treatment that money could buy, he probably would have died young. Now that he had finally recovered and started out his new life and, just when he was about to bring back his wife and child and they could, once again, be their happy family of three, his son's mother had been swapped on the inside and barely knew him anymore.

As much as she felt bad for him, she still had to face reality. Ever since the moment that she had saw her child's father, she never considered the possibility between the two of them The original owner's man was not her man and the woman who had been on Ye Rongchen's mind was not her either.

Yan Shuyu decisively determined that she would just rip the band-aid off. With Ye Rongchen looking at her intently, she said, "Um, if you can find the musical institution, I take it that you are aware of our current situation as well? I... I am engaged."

Yan Shuyu figured that the Ye family was no ordinary family so they should know about her and the boss. Even so, she decided to exaggerate it a little to nip any possibility off at the bud. Only she and the boss knew that the proposal didn't count. From an outsider's perspective, the two of them were about to get hitched soon.

Ye Rongchen's face turned colors but he was not surprised. He tried his best to curve his lips upward but there was a hint of bitterness in his smile. "I know..."

Before he was even done saying that, the door to the break room swung opened all of a sudden. Speaking of the devil. Boss Zhou, the center of the discussion, stood by the door and stared at the both of them. Staring mainly at Ye Rongchen, to be precise.

After knowing him for so long, this was the first time that Yan Shuyu saw such obvious emotions on him. She wasn't sure whether it was a figment of her imagination, but there seemed to be a hint of nervousness on him as well?

He was here so abruptly and his reaction so strong that Yan Shuyu was truly startled. There was even an odd sense that she was caught red-handed while cheating. She stood up quickly and said, "Oh, what are you doing here? This, this is Yuanbao's father. We all thought he had an accident. As it turned out, he had recovered. Haha..."

Perhaps being called back by her voice, Zhou Qinhe finally stopped staring at Ye Rongchen intensely and returned to his usual calm self. He casually walked over to Yan Shuyu and said nonchalantly, "I was done with work and thought I'd come by to pick you up so we can spend some time with the kids."

Yan Shuyu continued to laugh. "Oh, what a coincidence."

She didn't really question what the boss was saying. As much as he was a workaholic, but he was the CEO after all and he defined his own work hours. He could always get off earlier when he was done with his work. A day like today didn't happen very often, but it had happened before.

It was just the awkwardness right now.

The boss and Yuanbao's father seemed to be natural enemies of each other. The gentle and polite boss talked to only to her and refused to even look over at Ye Rongchen's direction. Ye Rongchen, on the other hand, only looked at her intensely and didn't seem to want to engage with the boss either.

Yan Shuyu had not expected the two grown men to behave that way. Being someone who was never excelled in social situations, Yan Shuyu didn't know what to do or how to introduce the two of them being stuck between them.

Luckily neither the boss nor Ye Rongchen were ordinary people - perhaps the old Ye Rongchen was the same as Yan Shuyu, but now that he had been gone for a few years, he was no longer that unruly teenager that he was on. After all, one's environment would affect one a lot. His family was of high status and he had attended university the last few years. In addition, he had also been groomed by his other on managing the company. He had joined the rank of Tall, Rich, and Handsome and, naturally, his mannerism had also improved a lot.

While Yan Shuyu was stuck between a rock and a hard place, Ye Rongchen has finally had it all figured out and decided to be the bigger person. "You must be Boss Zhou. I am Ye Rongchen, Yuanbao's father. I want to thank you for taking care of Yanyan and Yuanbao during this period of time."

For some odd reasons, every time her son's real dad referred to her as "Yanyan", Yan Shuyu would experience a guilty conscience, as though she really had a relationship with him. As such, when the boss casted her a sharp look, she quickly shrank her neck and couldn't withstand his look at all.

Nevertheless, Zhou Qinhe did not spend more time on messing around with her. He, too, put on a somewhat affectionate smile and said, "You are too nice, Mr. Ye. Yuanbao is Yanyan's child, which is the same as my own. It's my duty to take care of them. You don't need to thank me for that."

Yan Shuyu was a little baffled. What was going on here. Both the boss and her son's dad were smiling and even shook hands in a friendly manner as they talked. Why was it that she seemed to be able to feel an invisible dueling there?

Welp, whatever. Yan Shuyu took a look at the time and said, "It's time to go pick up the kids. We will be late if we don't head out now."

The reason that Ye Rongchen had reached out the olive branch first was precisely because he didn't want the awkwardness between them delayed them from picking up the child. Looking at Yan Shuyu passionately, he asked, "Can, can go with you to pick up Yuanbao?"

Boss Zhou, too, was looking at Yan Shuyu. His expression didn't change much but there was disapproval in his eyes.

He didn't say what he said just to spite Ye Rongchen. He had always been a planner in everything. If he had already proposed to Yan Shuyu, he was already prepared to become a family with Yan Shuyu mother and child. He would treat her child as if he was his own. He saw the appearance of the child's father as unnecessary.

Yan Shuyu, on the other hand, was never a domineering one like the boss was. She had no intention to get together with her son's real dad for the original owner but, on the other hand, she also didn't mind Ye Rongchen's appearance into their lives. He was, after all, Yuanbao's real father. Blood is thicker than water. There was nothing wrong with having one more person who would love the child genuinely.

Besides, her biggest worry had always been her son's sudden decision on following the path of the original novel and became nemesis with the little male lead for fighting with him over his father, which would ultimately bring about his untimely death. Ye Rongchen's reappearance was simply amazing. Now that her son had his own father, he would not need to fight over someone else's. Did that mean her biggest worry had been resolved just like that?

All in all, Yan Shuyu was only too happy to see how eager Ye Rongchen was to love his child. She nodded without thinking, "Sure. Let's all go together. Yuanbao will be startled for sure."

Zhou Qinhe, who resented the idea, merely pursed his lips but never said anything. The three of them left together.

As the Second Generation Power, Ye Rongchen had his pomp as well. His chauffeur had been waiting outside the entire time and, as such, his car followed the one with the boss and Yan Shuyu in it and arrived at the school at a moderate pace.

Worried about attracting too much attention, Ye Rongchen only waited inside of the car outside of the school instead of getting out of it. Once they had picked the child up, the two cars drove in one behind the other to a restaurant nearby and thus started the "meeting your father" conference inside of a private room with all five of them present.

Yan Shuyu had original felt that this had nothing to do with the boss and talked to him whether he wanted to go home with Zhou Yi first. The boss glared at her and his voice was cold, "Why? You don't want any outsider there when your family of three get together?"

Intimidated by his aura, Yan Shuyu's neck shrank again. Worried that the children in the back would overhear them, she covered up her mouth and explained in a low voice, "I am just worry that you and Xiao Yi will be bored is all. Truth is, the meeting between him and Yuanbao doesn't have a lot to do with me either. I have you already."

She seemed to have mumbled the last part but Zhou Qinhe heard it anyway. And, precisely because he heard it clearly, the corners of his mouth curved upward uncontrollably. His look mellowed up immediately but his voice was still solemn. "He had gone above and beyond to come look for you. Aren't you touched by that?"

Yan Shuyu replied to him seriously, "Yes, but that is all there is."

Perhaps her reassurance had worked. Zhou Qinhe stopped bringing up more questions and they arrived at the private booth at the restaurant peacefully.

Ye Rongchen was the last to walk into the room. Zhang Yuanjia didn't know what was going on at first so he naturally took the little male lead with him and placed their backpacks down on the couch. The adults just brought them to a restaurant without saying anything to them. The little kiddos were curious but not particularly surprised. After all, they both knew that Mommy/Aunty Yan was a foodie and it didn't seem too out of place she would want to go have dinner at 4 PM.

Yan Shuyu had no idea that she got blamed again. She took a look in the direction of the door and then at her unsuspecting son. She wanted to say something to him. "Yuanbao.."

She had just said his name when she heard the knocking. She had texted Ye Rongchen in advance to give her sometime to prepare the child first. His being up here so soon clearly showed that he was very eager for this to happen.

Yan Shuyu could understand his emotional roller coaster. After all, her son was such a wonderful child. "C'mon in," she said.

Ye Rongchen pushed open the door and walked in right away.

The little kiddos who had been sitting on the touch stood up together docilely. The two pairs of eyes looked over in the direction of the door at the same time. Zhou Yi's look was purely curiosity; Zhang Yuanjia, on the other hand, stared intensely at the man as though he just might have some memory still about him.

Yan Shuyu was a little surprised at first but then figured out that it made sense. The little kiddo would sneakily check out their marriage certificate from time to time and there was his father's picture on it. Her intention was for him to not scheme over someone else's father, as such, she had no reason to stop him from thinking about his own father.

As she was thinking, she saw the little kiddo turned his head all of a sudden and, looking at her full of surprise, asked, "Daddy?"

Yan Shuyu nodded at him affirmatively, "Yes, that is your father."

Ye Rongchen had been suppressing his emotions originally but, when he saw that his son recognized him, he couldn't control himself anymore. He walked immediately over to Zhang Yuanjia and squatted down in front of him. His voice quivered from excitement. "Yuanbao, Daddy is back."
