《Love on Top》Ch.5

I was getting ready for lunch with my mother. When I finished getting dressed,I put my hair into a neat top knot then I sprayed Marc Jacobs 'Honey' onto myself. I checked my appearance in the mirror and made sure that nothing was out of place. I also made sure that my make up was flawless. When I was satisfied,I grabbed my purse that went with this outfit then I grabbed my coat. I walked out to my car after locking up the house. I get inside and as soon as the car turns on I plug it up and go to Soundcloud. I turn on Your Soul by Hippie Sabotage then I drive away form my my home.
As I was driving, my mother called me. I answered her call and put her on car speaker.
"Where are you,Daphne?" She asked.
"I'm on my way,mother," I answered.
"Good. I'll see you when you get here,"She said.
"You too," I hung up.
When I arrived at the Country Club, the valet opened my door for me. I handed him my keys then I walked inside. A man looked at me.
"Who are you looking for, miss?" He asked.
"I'm looking for Diane Chambray,"I answered.
"Ah. This way," He said. I nodded and followed behind him. He led me to a private dining area. I walked in and thanked him before he left. My mother and her husband were sitting there together.
"Why are you wearing that?" She asked.
"Because I want to," I answered.
"Never mind then," She waved me off.
"Why am I here?" I asked.
"Sit down first," She replied. I sat down across from her.
"Not there. Over here," She hissed. I sighed and got up. I sat down next to her.
"Now tell me why I'm here?" I asked.
"We are meeting some important clients of mine," Peter answered.
"That still doesn't explain as in to why I am here," I murmured.

"They have a son around your age," Mother said.
"This is my cue to leave," I stood up and grabbed my purse.
"Daphne," Mother hissed.
"Bye,mother," I said. I walked out of the room and out towards the door. I headed down the stairs. He used his walkie talkie to call in to someone else. A few minutes later,my car came around. I tipped them generously then I thanked them before I got into my car. I drove off from the Country Club and towards the main road. I decided to go to to Sakagura,a Japanese restaurant.
As I walked into the restaurant,I bumped into someone accidentally.
"I am so sorry," I said.
"No it's fine," That person assured me. I looked up to see the man I bumped into a few weeks ago at the coffee shop. We looked at each other for a moment.
"Well I must get going," I mumbled.
"Me too," He nods. We both averted our gazes then walked in opposite directions.
"How many?" The hostess asked.
"Just one," I answered.
"Alright. Come with me," She replied.
"Okay," I replied. I followed her as she led me to a table.
"Your waitress will be right with you," She informed.
"Alright. Thank you," I murmured.
"You're welcome and enjoy your meal," She smiled before walking away. I looked over the menu for a few minutes.
"Hi. Welcome to Sakagura," The waitress greeted.
"Hello," I smiled.
"What can I start you off with to drink?" She asked.
"I'll just have a club soda," I answered. She jotted it down quickly.
"Do you need a few minutes to look over the menu or do you want to order now?" She questioned.
"I'll order now," I answered.
"Okay," She looked at me.
"I'll have Kamo Curry Namban," I said.
"Okay," She nods.
"And for a appetizer,I'd like Assorted Sashimi as well," I said as I handed her my menu.

"Okay. I'll be right back with your club soda," She tells me. I nodded. My phone vibrated in my purse. I took it out and saw that my mother had texted me ten times and called me twice. She started to call me for the eleventh time. I pressed decline then I went through the rest of my phone. As you can already tell,I'm pissed off right now because of her. She's always trying to set me up with these guys that are either cocky,spoiled,self-absorbed,or almost bald. I keep telling her that I'll find love on my own terms. The same goes for marriage. Why can't she seem to understand that?
The waitress came back with my drink. I thanked her. I looked through my phone as I waited on my appetizer.
After lunch,I decided to go out and do a little shopping. My mom continued to call and text me the whole time but I ignored her calls. If she can't get it through her thick skull that I don't want to keep meeting these bland and uninteresting men, then I don't think I can take it anymore at all. I'm sorry but she needs to realize that I'm an adult now and I'll get married in due time but for now I just want to be alone. That's all.
I decided to stay out for the rest of the day. I need to be alone for a few more hours. I saw a store that seemed to have caught my eye. I parked my car near it then got out. I went inside the store called Superdry. It was a vintage store from what I could tell. I smiled to myself and went inside. I saw a few dresses, shirts, and pants that caught my eye along with a few vintage accessories. I heard my phone ring in my purse. I saw that the caller was my older brother Chad.
"Hello," I greeted.
"Mom is super pissed right now at you," He informed me.
"Okay. And?" I replied nonchalantly.
"Daphne Audrey Marilyn Gaines," He sighed.
"Chad, she tried to set me up again. I keep telling her not to but she doesn't listen. She's starting to get on my nerves about this whole marriage thing," I explained.
"She's only trying to help," He said.
"Well her help isn't needed at all,Chad. I have to constantly keep telling her that I'll meet the right one someday but I don't think she listens to me," I sighed as I paid for my things.
"Daphne, she only wants you to be happy," He reasoned.
"Chad,I know that but,I'm twenty-eight years old. I'll find the right man for me some day but for now I want to enjoy being on my own," I explained.
"Whatever you say," He mumbled.
"I'll talk to you later,Chad," I said.
"You too," He wearied. I hung up my phone then thanked the cashier before leaving with my bags. I decided to stay out a little and enjoy being downtown before eating dinner at Barrio Chino before going home.
When I got home,Cristian came towards me. I smiled.
"Hey,mama's baby," I greeted. He barked in response. I went upstairs to my room then I put away all the things I bought before taking a shower. After my shower I put on my
Pjs and got into bed. Cristian barked as I put my phone on the charger. I smiled and got out of bed. I went downstairs with him. I took him out the back door. I waited until he finished before we both went back upstairs. Cristian fell asleep in his doggy and I fell asleep in my bed.

The Stormcrow Cycle
Once a powerful and lauded witch, Ba'an salu-Ba'an now lives alone in a cave in the desert, waiting to die. When she rescues an outlander from certain death she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of politics and empire, of heart and soul, but worst of all--of hope and love and a chance at a peaceful future. Can a disgraced witch find a reason to live her life again--and if so, what price must she pay? The Stormcrow Cycle is a trilogy comprising of The Exile, The Lion, and Abomination. Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!
