-For the people that are reading this book since it first started; I decided to give N'Yarai (Yara) a character 👇🏿
London Zhiloh as N'Yarai Jabari
———————————————————————–
We lay in our bed with his arms wrapped around me. 'I can't wait for our wedding night so you could show me why I actually call you sweet cheeks.' I smack his arm playfully. 'Stop.' I'm not gonna lie, I'm actually really nervous for tonight. I mean.. he has had sex with a lot of girls right? What if I don't meet up to his expectations? My Kimoyo bead bracelet beeps. A notification pops up.
"YOUR WEDDING STARTS IN TWO HOURS. WHY ARE YOU NOT HERE YET?!"
— Shuri
I jump up and put my comfy sandals on. 'I have to go and get ready. Why aren't you getting ready?' 'Cause you girls always need three plus hours to get ready while I already look good.' I shake my head. 'So conceited.' He laughs and looks at me from top to bottom. 'I got a quick question for you sweet cheeks.' 'Mhm?' 'What are those???!!!' He shouts while pointing his hand in the direction of my shoes.
I twist my face up and roll my eyes. 'I'm gonna get ready for our wedding while you sit here, acting like a little child.' I give Erik a quick kiss when I turn around to leave, he grabs my hand. 'Come and give me a real kiss.' I smile and turn around. He wraps his muscled arms around my waist. He places his lips on mine. He bites my lip, asking for permission to slip his tongue in my mouth, which I give him.
His hand slips from my waist to my butt. I do the same to him and he immediately pulls back. 'Whoa whoa there sweet cheeks. You can't touch up on a man like that.' I laugh, rolling my eyes. 'So why can you touch up on a woman like that then?' 'Because a woman is a woman.' I shake my head, ignoring his dumb comment and go to the well known lab of Shuri.
'Hey!' I greet while walking in. I look at the pissed off faces of Nakia & Shuri. 'What?' 'We only have 1 hour and 45 minutes to get you ready!' 'Chill Nakia, we got this.' She drags me by my hand to a chair. I take a seat. I look at all the make-up on the table. 'I hope that all is not going onto my face.'

'Of course it is. It's your wedding day, you need to look beautiful.' 'Erik told me I already look beautiful without make-up.' 'ErIk ToLd Me I aLrEaDy LoOk BeAuTiFuL wItHoUt MaKe-Up.' Nakia mimics me.
I roll my eyes. 'Fine. Just get it over with and don't!- Put too much. Keep it natural.' 'KeEp It NaTuRaL.' Shuri mimics me this time. I watch her as she grabs a scissor and walk my way. 'Shuri! What are you gonna do with that scissor?' 'I'm gonna cut you some bangs. Duh.' 'I think not. I don't want bangs.' Shuri looks at me and then to Nakia. She nods and Nakia abruptly holds me back. Shuri comes closer with the scissors. 'No! Stop! Shuri and Nakia, when I'm Queen I'll behead you for this!'
After sitting still for an hour they finally tell me that they're done. 'Ready to see the results?' Nakia asks. I nod. She turns the mirror around and my eyes widen. 'Wow.' I touch my big poofy hair. I actually like the bangs that Shuri cut for me.
Her hair
'Not a bad job Shuri.' She looks at me with a what-did-you-just-say glare. 'What?' 'Not a bad job? I almost fractured my wrists trying to tame your hair and you say not a bad job?' Nakia and I laugh. 'I'm sorry I didn't know you felt that way. I actually love it.' 'No, I don't need your sympathy.' Nakia and I snicker once again.
Suddenly, a horn that I've never heard before in my life, sounds. Nakia notices me tense up. 'Don't worry, it's the horn that they sound when a king is going to get married to his queen. And that horn also means to we only have 30 minutes left!' She panics at the end of her sentence.
Shuri pulls out a mannequin dressed in an absolute beautiful dress.
My mouth falls open. 'Shuri, I love it.' She smiles. 'Duh. I made it.' They help me get it on which wasn't an easy job. When the dress is finally on I notice Nakia crying. 'Why are you crying?' 'I can't believe you are getting married earlier than I am.' Nakia says. We all laugh. 'I love you guys.' I say smiling.

'Awh, look at Yara getting all sentimental.' Shuri jokes. I playfully smack her on the arm. She wants to say something but is cut off by the same horn that sounded earlier. 'It's time.' I sigh and notice how nervous I actually am. 'I can't believe I'm getting married.' 'Believe it now or later, I don't care but we gotta go.' Nakia says while dragging me outside.
Nakia and Shuri walk down the aisle. Nakia with T'Challa and Shuri with a guard she had befriended. I grab the bouquet tighter in my hands. A tap on my shoulder catches my attention. I turn around and see my father. 'M'Baku!' I immediately hug him. 'You look beautiful Yara.' 'I know.' He chuckles. 'Like father like daughter.'
He stands beside me, arm in arm. We slowly walk down the aisle. Every step we take the more I need to go to the toilet. 'I will sh*t on myself if we don't walk faster.' I say. He chuckles and walks faster. In a matter of seconds, I finally stand before my soon to be husband. He is wearing an all black suit with embroidered details on it. It's a simple outfit but I would lie heavily if I said that he didn't look good in it.
'You look stunning.' He says. A smile appears on my face. 'Thank you. You look handsome.' He shrugs. 'I try.'
'People of Wakanda, Today there will be no dearly beloved, no betrothed, and no ancient rhyme of the married. Today there are no dead languages to solemnize vows that are very much alive and will remain so for a lifetime. Today promises become permanent and friends become family.
However, this day is not about the words spoken or the rings exchanged, nor is it about grand pronouncements and recessional marches.
This day – the day of N'Yarai Jabari's and Erik Stevens' wedding – is about love.'
'Erik and N'Yarai, your breathless tale is about to begin. Love isn't just a word; it's an action. Love isn't something you say, it's something you do. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never dies. Not only do they love one another romantically – and they do, you can see it in every look, every touch, every moment they're together – they also love one another as friends.'
'In fact, they're best friends, constantly giggling, taunting and teasing each other, obviously having fun together.' We all laugh at his comment.
'That love and enjoyment of each other as best friends will sustain them through this marriage.'
'So, let your marriage be a time of waking each morning and falling in love with each other all over again.' 'Erik Stevens, do you take N'Yarai Jabari to be your wedded wife?' 'Abso- f*cking- luty.' All the people including me, laugh. 'N'Yarai Jabari, do you take Erik Stevens to be your wedded husband?' 'Yes. I do.' 'I now pronounce you, in the name of Jesus Christ, as husband and wife. Groom, you may now kiss your bride.'
The well known smirk appears on Erik's face. He pulls me closer and leans forward. He looks me deeply in the eyes. Almost as if he can see all my emotions. Our gaze never has been this intense before. His lips smash on mine.
He slowly pulls away after a while. I look in his eyes. I see an emotion I've never seen in him before. Hope.
The loud cheers of Shuri break our gaze. 'GO MRS. KILLMONGER!' She yells. I laugh. I look at the thousands of people cheering.
This is now our kingdom.
Him & I.
We are one hell of a team.
