I heard a loud shot echoing through the house and my heart started beating faster. Where I'm from you never hear gunshots.
Maybe once in a while when somebody is trying to show off. But they don't actually kill people with it. There was a long period of silence for about five minutes.
Another shot echoed and my legs went numb. I heard loud footsteps coming towards the room so I hid under the bed. I covered my mouth with my hand before shutting my eyes.
The door cracked open and the footsteps stopped at the edge of the bed. There was silence for a moment and I blinked twice.
Someone pulled me out from under the bed by my feet and I screamed loudly.
"Please don't kill me." I begged with closed eyes.
"Fuck, Nevaeh. It's me." I heard Calix's voice so I slowly opened my eyes to look at him.
"Why would you do that?" I angrily yelled at him before hitting his chest.
"I'm sorry." He said before holding me against his chest and I froze. I'm not gonna hug him back. He's a kidnapper and I'm certain that he just killed somebody downstairs.
"We need to get out of here." He said in a husky tone and I just looked at him. I'm not allowed to talk.
He grabbed a bag before throwing clothes into it, he looked over his shoulder at me before throwing a shirt and sweatpants into the bag, fresh clothes.
Come to think of it I need a shower, how long have I been here?
"Come." He said before walking out of the room. I walked behind him but he was extremely fast so I almost couldn't keep up.
We got outside and I raised my hand.

"Speak." He said and I hated myself for being so obedient.
"Where's your mom and dad?" I asked and he shrugged. "Then at least tell me where the little girl is." I said slowly so that I would speak properly.
"She's safe. I always make sure that she's safe." He said angrily and I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at him.
"Let's go." He said in his usual husky tone.
"Can't I just go home? You can't take me this far away from home without my consent." I said and he rolled his eyes at me. "It's illegal. I only turned eighteen a few months ago." I said and he frowned at me.
"Good so technically I have nothing to worry about." He said and I looked at him as if he was an alien.
"Please don't do this to me. Don't do this to my mom and dad. My aunt just passed from cancer." I said and he raised a single eyebrow at me.
"Our family has been through enough." I said sadly and he looked away from me. Ignorant bastard.
"We don't have to share our life stories Nevaeh. If I start telling you how many people I've lost you'd feel embarrassed to be throwing that in my face." He said blankly.
"This is the mafia. Get used to it." He said with flared nostrils and I went back to just staring at him.
Great so he is also in the mafia. That explains the tattoos, the guns and the mansion.
