《Living With The Asshole》Chapter 13

They began their first song.
It was "Little Things" by One Direction.
This was one of my favorite songs ever.
Josh finished his bit just in time for Aaron to sing his. I held my breath, waiting to hear his voice.
I'd never heard him sing before. I could only hope he was a good singer because that was really all I could do at this point.
I won't let these little things slip out of my mouth
But if I do
It's you
Oh it's you
They add upto
I'm in love with you
And all these little things
I stared at him with awe. I had never heard him sing before and I regretted it.
He had such a beautiful voice. The kind that made you swoon.
Aaron caught me looking then, and grinned at me. He'd finished singing his solo and mouthed "How was it?"
I gave him a thumbs up sign, grinning back.
The crowd cheered loudly as the song came to an end.
We would definitely raise enough money from the tickets for the prom.I was so, so happy.
They began their second song and I couldn't help but stare in amazement at Aaron.
I suddenly had the urge to pull him into a bone crushing hug.
I glanced at the audience again, this time, I spotted Amanda in the front row, clapping wildly making me smile.
Next to her, Cole sat with Aaron's friends, all of them grinning.
And exactly two rows behind them was Kayla.
I grimaced when I saw her with Dave. Really? Showing up with her "boyfriend" after everything that happened?
Trying to stop thinking of her,I got off the stage and joined my friends in the front row.
The stage looked way more thrilling from down there.
As they finished the second song, the crowd yelled, deafening me.
***
"You were terrific!" I yelled at thr three of them as they came back stage. The show had ended and it had been a major success.
They grinned at me and we group hugged.
"And Aaron, thank you so much for stepping in.You saved us," Alexa said, beaming.
" It wasn't a big deal," he shrugged it off with a smile.
He acted so maturely around other poeple,it surprised me.He was like a different person altogether.
It was just Aaron and me now.
"Um, so..." I began awkwardly as I walked closer to him.
"So?"
"I,um,"
"You what?" he smirked, happy that he was making me uncomfortable.
Jerk.
"What I wanted to say was, uh, you were..It was very nice of you to , uh..", I stuttered. I didn't know what was up with me.All I had to do was to thank him for his help.

He raised an eyebrow.
I opened my mouth to speak but just then, one of his friend's from the dinner whose name I'd forgotten came in.
He grinned at me and pulled Aaron into a bro hug.
"Dude that was fucking awesome!"
"I know, Dylan," he said smugly, earning himself a slap on the back of his head.
Dylan.Right.
Another friend of his, Kaden, came in along with..Callum (Yes, I did remember their names ,somehow).
They all congratulated me and Aaron.
"Carter has thrown a party. Let's go celebrate!" Dylan suggested.
All the boys agreed."You come too, gorgeous," Kaden winked, heading out with Dylan.
I saw Aaron roll his eyes at his retreating back.
For some reason, my heartbeat sped up as I realised that we were alone again.
Aaron turned to look at me, tilting his head slightly. "You were saying?"
"I... Thank you, Aaron. Thank you so much. You really saved my ass back there."
"Anything for you," he winked.
My heart started going crazy. Before I could change my mind, I flung my arms around him, taking him by surprise.
It took him a few seconds but he hugged me back.
"Ashley," he whispered a few seconds later.
"Yeah?" I replied in a shaky voice, pulling away from him. I really didn't want to.
He shook his head, a smile on his lips.
"Um, let's get going, yeah, come on," I stuttered like an idiot.
"Let's go," Aaron said.
Once we were outside with everyone, he slung an arm over my shoulder, surprising me.
I shot him a look but he pretended not to notice it.
Wait, when had I even said yes to going to the party?
We met Trent, Amanda and Cole outside. Her boyfriend was there too. I'd forgotten his name. I had a really shitty memory sometimes.
They were making out, so we decided not to disturb them and leave.
Trent said he couldn't come, because his cousins were over at his house and his mom would kill him if he didn't go back.
So, Cole and Aaron and his friends and I went to the party. I didn't even know this Carter person.
He was, Aaron told me, Dylan's brother.
We all went in Aaron's car, which was more than big enough to accommodate all of us.
We got there in about fifteen minutes.Aaron was pretty annoying the whole time.(Shocker, right?)
I smacked his head at least three times but he refused to leave me alone.
As we pulled into the driveway, I could hear loud music playing inside.

"Where are your parents?" I asked Dylan.
"Visiting some old friends," he grinned.
"Lucky you," Kaden muttered.
All of us went inside and there were so many people inside the house, that within two minutes of entering, I lost sight of all of the guys, except Kaden.
"You want a drink?" he offered politely.
I was going to refuse but I realised I was kind of thirsty so I said yes.
He smiled before pulling me over to the mini bar.
He gave me a glass of something. I took a few sips.
"Can I have more?" I asked, suddenly feeling even more thirsty.
"Sure," he said, handing me another.
A few minutes later, Kaden said he'd see me later, so I was on my own.
When he left, I drank another glass of whatever it was that he'd given me.I didn't even know what it was but I didn't care at that point.
Before long, I started feeling dizzy and was about to fall off the chair, when a pair of strong hands caught me.
"Whoa," I laughed.
I was starting to feel sick and dizzy. Also kind of crazy.
"Are you okay?"
I nodded,then shook my head.
He stared at me in confusion.
I giggled at him."You're so cute," I pinched his cheeks. He suddenly looked ten times more adorable.
Aaron groaned in frustration.
"Come on, let's get you out of here," he muttered, more to himself than to me, putting his hands on my shoulders to hold me in place.
"I can walk," I said. I would probably throw up but I could walk. Or so I thought.
"Yeah, sure you can," Aaron rolled his eyes.
My head started spinning and I knew what was coming. But I couldn't move. I threw up right there,in front of him. I felt so gross.
"Shit, are you okay?" Aaron asked me worriedly, instead of being disgusted.
I looked at him and nodded. Had he always been this nice or was I just starting to notice it now?
"Hey, Carter!" Aaron yelled at some guy over the loud music.
The guy turned around and came upto us.
"Whoa, what happened to her?" he asked.
"She's sick. Can you give me Dylan's room key?You have it, right?" he asked him.
The guy nodded and handed him a bunch of keys from his pocket, all the while looking at me weirdly.
"Thanks," he said to the guy and walked me somewhere, I had no idea where he was taking me but I didn't say anything. My head started to hurt.
He fumbled with the keys and managed to open the door with one hand, still holding me with the other.
Once he closed the door, the noise coming from outside reduced, making me feel better.
He sat me down on the bed.
Then, he got a glass of water from somewhere and made me drink it.
"Wait, I'll give you something else to wear," he told me.
I closed my eyes and lied down on the bed, suddenly very tired.
"Are you asleep?" I heard his voice.
"Yes," I replied, eyes still closed.
He chuckled softly. "Here, put this on."
I opened my eyes then and tried to sit up but I fell back.
He sighed and helped me sit up.
"Can you wear this?", he asked holding out a t-shirt.
I nodded which made my head hurt even more. I winced.
"Good," he said and got up so that he was facing the wall.
I fumbled and tried to put the shirt on. Key word being tried.
"You done?" he asked, still facing the wall.
"Yep."
He turned back and sighed when he saw me.
I had put both my arms in the same hole.
"Hold on."
He came towards me.
I didn't even protest. He handed the shirt to me in a way that made it difficult to mess up.
"Here," he handed it to me and walked away again so he wasn't looking at me.
I managed to put it on this time and called Aaron once I was done.
"I'll drop you home, come on," he said.
But I laid down. I was too tired to go anywhere right now.
"Ashley," he said to me but I didn't answer.
Sighing again, he tried to pick me up in his arms but gave up. I suppose he was tired too.I felt him lie down next to me.
I opened my eyes and looked at him.
His eyes were closed.
"Aaron?"I said gently.
He slowly opened his eyes.I was two inches away from his face.
I suddenly felt the urge to be closer to him.
I moved closer to him and put my arms around him and closed my eyes.
There was no movement for sometime, but as I fell asleep,I felt a pair of arms wrap around me.
