《Together we howl》Part 28

The next week and a half were busy for everyone who was involved in fighting the newborns. At times, the tension between the pack and the Cullens was too much to handle and resulted in some sort of disagreement, however, Hermione and Luna would end it before it got too messy.
Bella became even more aggravating, it got to the point where everyone had to fight against themselves not to harm her. The majority of them began to contemplate whether or not they should give her to Victoria, thinking their lives would be much more simple without her to bug them. Though they knew it wasn't a real option and that seemed to irritate them even more.
They were all at the pack house that morning, Hermione and Ginny had both woken up early from some nightmares and decided against going back to sleep. They know how much the pack love to eat, add a few wizards and witches into the mix and they might as well cook a whole buffet. Harry, who had left for a few days, had returned with a bottomless bag filled with different types of snacks and meals for vampires, which was greatly appreciated by the Cullens, who were able to sit down with everyone for every meal.
The chatter stopped abruptly as a small gasp left Alice's mouth, gaining everyone's attention. Her eyes were glazed over which signalled that she was experiencing one of her visions.
"They're coming" was the only thing she had to say for everyone to forget about their meals and begin to prepare. Remus immediately left with Teddy, despite the many arguments he had with Hermione, but deep down, he knew he needed to be with Teddy instead. The child had already lost one parent to war, he didn't need to lose another, especially when it was to protect someone no one particularly liked.
Hermione, Ginny, Luna and pansy left to get ready into their combat clothes. They came back a little under half an hour with tight black spandex trousers, dragon hide boots and vests that are unable to be penetrated by their fangs. Their wand holsters were strapped to their arms and goblin-made daggers sat on their thighs. Sirius and Harry descended the stairs in similar clothing, though not as tight.
"Remember everyone, aim to kill" Jasper announced, gaining confident nods from those around him. Hermione gestured her pack forward, who all then stood around her.
"Please, don't get hurt. I won't be able to live if any of you die on me" She begged, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. Truth be told, the pack were still not used to being cared about so intensely by another person, especially a woman they had met not all that long ago. They each had family problems, they either had an abusive mother or one that's no longer around, either from choice or death. Hermione had become that figure in their lives, and though she was still young, they couldn't help but think of her as their angel and saviour.
"We are more worried about you" Jacob responded with a frown, gaining her attention. The looks in her eyes caused his breath to hitch, the familiar look in her eyes was something he hadn't seen since his mother was alive, it was full of love, concern and fear.

"I'm not going anywhere" She reassured with a watery smile, though it didn't reach her eyes. They all knew she couldn't promise a thing such as survival in a situation like this, though they knew she was strong and had a high chance of living through another battle. It warmed their hearts that she was more worried about them than herself, but in some ways, it frustrated them because they knew she would risk her life for theirs in a heartbeat.
"Are you ready?" Rosalie called out, gaining their attention. Hermione nodded her head, wiping the tears away from her cheeks before tightly grabbing Sam's hand.
It wasn't long until they arrived at the opening where Alice and Luna had seen the battle take place. Jacob, much to his dismay, had to stay with Bella in a tent up in the mountains, hoping they don't catch her scent which would most likely be overrun by his wolf smell. The smug look on the girl's face didn't go unnoticed and much to everyone's amusement, Pansy showed her claim on the wolf by slamming her lips against his, leaving him rather flustered.
"That should do it" Pansy smirked as she watched her mate, run off with the muggle girl in his arms.
"Or you sent him away, horny as fuck" Jared laughed, making Pansy glare half-heartedly. The group shook their heads with amused smiles before getting into their positions. They all stood back to back, facing all directions in case the newborns approached them from every angle.
A short while later, a strong scent hit their nostrils, signalling the group that the battle was about to begin. The newborns ran into the clearing from the North, their fast speed catching the wizards and witches off guard for a moment before they took out their wands, firing every and all spells they know could hurt a vampire. What the newly turned vampires didn't expect, was for some of the humans to transform into wolves.
The fight was brutal, flashes of multicoloured spells were flying everywhere, and fires burning the decapitated bodies of the new vampires. Despite what Jasper had warned them about, they did not expect them to be so strong and bloodthirsty. The pack remained in their wolf forms whilst Hermione and Ginny switched between their wolves and used their wands to send cutting hexes to remove the newly turned vampires' heads.
As she looked around, Hermione noticed that neither Victoria nor Riley were anywhere to be seen. This sent the witch into panic and from the look on Edwards's face, he had realised the same thing. Her worried thoughts were confirmed when a distant yet warning howl echoed from the mountains, gaining the pack's attention. Hermione once again turned to Edward, whose face was blank but his eyes were glowing in frustration.
"I'm on it" She shouted before transforming into her wolf, ignoring the worried howls coming from her pack. She ran as fast as she could but as she approached the halfway mark, she realised that her vampire speed might be more beneficial. She transformed back and ran full speed up the mountain once again, jumping and ducking over branches and fallen trees. She caught the scent of Jacob, along with Bella and two other scents who were confirmed to be vampires.

To get to the destination faster, she jumped up onto a tree and began swinging from one to the other. She came to a halt when she was able to overlook the campsite that Jacob had brought Bella to. She held back a growl as she saw Jacob, standing in front of Bella as Victoria and Riley seemed to be taunting them.
"Where's your precious Edward," Victoria asked with a vicious smirk, though from the way she was looking around, Hermione could tell she was generally curious. Bella opened her mouth but shut it instantly, becoming flustered by the question as she knew Edward refused to accompany her to the tent.
"Instead, he leaves you with a disgusting mutt" Riley spoke, his face scrunched up in disgust as he acknowledged Jacob, earning a warning growl from the wolf.
"He didn't leave me!" Bella cried out, her face red from anger, causing the two vampires to laugh.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that. It's okay, we'll kill the mutt and we'll continue our fun with you" Riley and Victoria exchanged sadistic smiles, making Bella shiver in fear. Hearing the two vampires threaten her pack member caused Hermione to snap. She jumped from the tree branch and landed firmly behind them, making them jump in shock.
"You again" Victoria groaned as she rolled her eyes, but Hermione doesn't respond as she continues to glare furiously at the redhead and her companion.
"I guess we will kill you first" Riley declared before rushing toward her, but what he didn't expect was for Hermione to simply sidestep him, making him fall face first into the snow.
"Yeah, that's going to be harder than you thought," Hermione said with a smirk. She found that she rather enjoyed taunting those who she was fighting against, Harry had scolded her on numerous occasions during the Hogwarts battle because it usually ended up with her missing getting hit by spells, only by a little.
She was snapped out of her thoughts when she felt a pair of hands wrapping around her throat, stopping the oxygen from going in. However, despite Victoria being older and much stronger, Hermione simply stared at the woman with a bored expression. This seemed to confuse and anger the red-haired vampire even more, from the increase in pressure around her throat, she could tell that Victoria was doing everything in her power to kill her.
A confident smirk began to form on Hermione's face as she placed a single hand on Victoria's throat before wandlessly muttering an 'incendio' spell. A pain-filled scream escaped Victoria's mouth, causing her to stumble back as her clothes and skin were now set on fire. For a few moments, she turned her attention to the screaming mess that's now, Riley, who was being dragged around by Jacob like a rag doll, though he continued to call out to Victoria. Turning her attention back to the red-haired Vampire, a wicked smirk formed on her face as she watched the woman rolling around in the snow, trying to put out the magical fire, though, with each movement, the flames began to increase. Hermione caught a glimpse of Jacob ripping Riley's head off his shoulders before deciding to put Victoria out of her misery. She pulled out her wand and aimed it at the screaming vampire before saying:
"Bombarda Maxima" Before their very eyes, Victoria's body exploded, leaving shredded clothes and what looked like ice particles, which she could only assume was what the spell caused when against a vampire.
"The battle is finished" Jacob, who was back in his human form, announced as he was putting on some shorts to hide his nude body after transformation. Hermione tilted her head with a small frown, gaining a concerned look from him.
"What's wrong? Are you hurt?" He whimpered slightly, snapping her out of her thoughts. Her heart warmed at his concern and immediately brought him into a tight hug, which he melted into.
"I'm alright, Cub. Are you hurt?" She asked as she scanned his body for any injuries, which made him roll his eyes fondly with a smile on his face. It was rather odd for him to see her as a mother figure, especially when she was only a few years older than him but she simply radiated such love and care that it felt motherly to him and the rest of the pack, except Sam, of course.
"I'm fine, Alpha-"
"I thought sam was the Alpha?" A voice from behind them interrupted, gaining their attention. Bella stood with her arms crossed with a large frown on her face, clearly unhappy with the closeness between her former friend and the random stranger that ruined all her plans.
Bella had loved Edward, he was so mysterious and for her, being a vampire just increased her desire to be with him. She wanted to be a vampire, living forever and being undoubtedly beautiful was something she wasn't going to pass up. However, Edward had to be difficult and refuse her hopes for immortality, though she knew she was able to convince him, even if it was slowly. Then two new girls moved into town, bringing a few friends along with them and somehow, they managed to do the one thing she was trying her hardest to accomplish. Bringing the pack and the Cullens together, at least to be civil for her sake. Jacob had always been someone who followed her around, like a puppy who couldn't get enough of its owner. At first, it frustrated her but then Edward left and she found herself loving the attention she was reviving from Jacob. The pack, who weren't as accepting as she had hoped, but at least they tried to be civil for Jacob's sake, though she knew they disliked her for her relationship with the vampires. When Edward returned, she was once again engulfed in the vampire world and yet, craved Jacobs's attention even more now that it was forbidden.
Now, neither Jacob nor Edward had the time of day for her and completely ignored her for the most part. The blonde-haired girl, Luna? She thinks her name was, had taken her spot in Edwards's life and from what she had seen, he was completely smitten with her, even more than he was with Bella. It caused a ripple of jealousy in her that she had never felt before, this group of freaks had ruined her chances of becoming immortal and one way or another, she will get her revenge.
