I locked myself inside of the dark room I was in and laid on the floor on my side, watching as the shadows shifted across the windows. Raindrops fell softly onto the glass as the hidden sun slipped beneath the horizon. Thunder rumbled in the distance. The setting was peaceful, yet disturbing. Exactly how I liked it.
My mind raced with the sorts of things that I could do to Samantha. I really wanted to take her back to my house to use my morgue tools on her. But, I couldn't go back to my house. The police would be waiting for me there. And even if they weren't there when I got home, they would find all the blood and guts strewn all over the place that signified a murder.
"Dammit..." I muttered to myself. I really wanted to dissect a human. That was one of the most inhumane ways that I could kill somebody. It was also a way that I had never killed anybody before, and I was anxious to try it out. My hands were itching to experience the sensation of flesh ripping under a scalpel.
I rubbed my finger under my nose to scratch it before turning my body to lay on my other side. This time, I faced the door. I hadn't heard Gomez walk about the house since I shut myself up in there. Perhaps he got drunk and slept out in the living room, or did he leave for some reason?
I got up and unlocked the door. With caution, I walked out of the room as the floor creaked beneath my light feet. Stealthily making my way down the hallway to the kitchen, ghastly shadows cast themselves as the dim light of the street lights out side somehow made its way inside through the cracks in the window's blinds and curtains.
There was no one in the kitchen or the living room. I would've heard his heavy steps if he had thumped his way back to his room. I furrowed my brows. But I hadn't heard him leave the house either.
I saw something on the table, so I swiftly walked over to see what it was that was not there earlier. It was a note. Curious, I seized the paper and examined it closely in the darkness.
It read, "Luther, I went out to sell a little bit of kush. I had a few appointments with clients while we were away that I never got to attend to. I will be back by, at the latest, 2 a.m. Do not leave this house under any circumstances."
Rolling my eyes, I set the note back down on the table. I turned around and looked at the house. Gomez's house was so boring. It always was. I remember coming in there as a little child while my parents visited, and absolutely hating every minute of it.
His house reeked of weed, all the while, as the smell had sunken into the wood planks of the house. His T.V. was small and meager, only getting in about 10 channels, on account that he only had antenna. His furniture was boring. He didn't have any good food. And pets? What pets?
Since there was no reason at the time to leave the house, I decided to go back into the bedroom that I was in before. This time, I laid down on the bed and pulled the covers over me.

I thought about Ava and how I felt about her. I loved her deeply. But, for some reason she didn't love me back. Why was that? I had done everything I could to prove my love to her. Either way, if she wouldn't fall in love with me, I would have to FORCE her to love me. And I already had a plan in action for how that was going to happen...
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Thursday was a tedious, grey morning, all the while the kitchen was filled with gloom and emptiness. Just how I liked it.
Gomez and I were gathered around the table, eating cereal while he read the newspaper. Suddenly, he threw it down onto the table in a rage. I looked up from my dull cereal bowl.
"What is it now?" I asked dryly, tossing my spoon into the cereal bowl.
"I told you. I TOLD you!" he exclaimed pointing a finger at me.
"What?"
"The bitch told! I knew it! I knew it!" He got up and paced back and forth, running his hand over his smooth head. "They're after you, Luther. For kidnapping and rape."
"What about you?" I inquired. "Are they after you?"
He shook his head while rubbing his temples. "No. No, there was nothing in there about me. But if you get caught, I will be finished."
"Yeah..." I said slowly as I slyly rose up from my seat at the table. I crossed my slender arms across my chest. "But they won't find me as long as I stay here. You said it yourself. They don't suspect you. They don't even know your real name."
He buried his head in his hands. "But Ava does. Antonio Gomez. All it will take is for her to give the police a name and address and we're both in the slammer, muchacho."
I scrunched my mouth to one side as I looked down. Ava didn't want Gomez to get busted. And, to be frank, I wasn't entirely sure why she had ratted me out either. She had kissed me. No prodding, no threatening, she did it on her own. But why? If she didn't want me to love her, she was making it very hard for me not to.
"I...I can't be here right now..." Gomez said, putting on his coat. I sighed as my body turned towards him.
"And where are you going?"
"I just need to go clear my head for a few hours. I'm going to call my sister and see what is going on down there. Do not leave this house, am I clear?" He walked out the door. I nodded. He returned my nod and shut the door, locking it behind him.
I lifted a brow as I stared at the half-eaten bowl of Cheerios. Smirking to myself, I walked over to the front door and slipped my shoes on. It was time to have a bit of fun.
I went to Gomez's room and grabbed one of his black hoodies. I put it over my head and walked around to the back door. I stealthily slinked out of the house and across the neighborhood to Ava's house.
She hadn't left for school yet. Her car window had appeared to be fixed, though. I looked across the street to my old sanctuary. How I longed for it. I wanted my torture devices and chains. I longed for my hard, dusty couch. The dark, stale smell of meth still lingering in the hard wood floor. The utter and eternal blackness that was its air and aura.

I got into the backseat of Ava's SUV and covered myself with a blanket she kept back there. I heard her exit her front door and get into her car. The engine revved up as she put the car into drive and drove to the school's parking lot. It took everything I had not to jump out of my hiding place and take her back to my house with me.
She got out of her car and walked into the school, locking it with the click of a button, causing the car to beep. I waited in the car. Patiently. I waited for thirty minutes or so. When I finally heard the bell ring that signified that class had begun, I got out of the car and manually locked the car door.
I walked around to the back of the school, so that I wouldn't have to check in at the office. There was a door that was always unlocked. As usual, it was in its normal state, so I entered, letting my shoes squeak against the annoying floor.
There was no wood shop class first period, and the teacher was never in the class room either, so I snuck inside of it. I kept the lights turned off, for I could almost see better in the darkness than the light.
There was something in there that I needed to kill Samantha with. I brainstormed. I could lure her in there and chainsaw her head off. But that would be loud and leave a mess. I could bring a hammer to her chest. Same results. Dammit, how was I going to do this?
It suddenly struck me like the realization of a child that it was Christmas morning. I'll hang her.
I walked over to a drawer and fished around in it. Nothing. I kept looking and looking. Finally, I found rope of sufficient size and length. I smirked to myself.
I coiled it up and stuffed it into my hoodie. I walked out of the classroom and up the stairs to the second floor. I had 1st period economics with Samantha, so I knew exactly where the classroom was. How I was going to take her out of the classroom was a different story.
My eyes wandered to the fire alarm. I cocked my head and lifted my brows. Don't mind if I do.
As soon as I reached for it, a voice from a near distance stopped me. "Luther White?" it faintly whispered.
My hand froze, hovering above the lever. I slowly turned my head to face the source of the weak, scratchy voice. A girl with frosted, brown hair and blue eyes stood before me, holding a hall pass in her hand. I backed away from the alarm and faced her, tilting my head back and slipping my hands into my pockets.
"Samantha..." I cooed. "Just the girl I wanted to see."
Her eyes were wide, petrified with fear. I loved the look of fear; it satisfied me greatly. "What are you doing here?" she whispered shakily.
I pulled the rope out of my hoodie and slowly started to uncoil it. "You know, it's funny you ask..." I said chuckling. I looked up at her, my smiling disappearing. She gasped as she turned to run the opposite way. In a matter of seconds, I had caught up to her and put my hand over her mouth. She squealed and struggled, trying to get free, but she was no match for my unnatural strength.
"Let's do this the easy way," I whispered into her ear. She shook her head violently and thrashed about. Getting fed up with her struggling, I hit her on the temple, causing her to go limp immediately.
I dragged her along the hallway and to an edge of the floor, where there was a balcony lookout over the staircase. I tied one end of the rope to the metal bars of the balcony and the other end around her neck. She moaned slightly as I lifted her up. I brought her to the edge. Her eyes opened for a split second before I tossed her over the edge, a choked scream barely escaping her lips before her neck broke with a satisfying "SNAP".
The bell rang. In a sudden panic, I thrust myself over the edge of the balcony myself and tumbled down the staircase. I sprinted to the door and hid outside behind a sports shed. The deed had been done. And my heart finally felt at peace.
I looked out from behind the shed and over at the door I had just come out of. Rain drizzled gently onto me, although I could hardly feel it. I was a safe distance away as well, so no one from the school would see me.
A girl suddenly emerged from the door with smooth, orange hair. Ava. I smiled genuinely to myself. My smiled quickly faded when I saw who followed her.
She was crying hysterically. She must've seen Samantha. The blonde boy embraced her tightly as he rubbed his hand across her back and stroked her hair.
After a few minutes, she looked up at him, into his large, brown eyes. He leaned down and kissed her lips. Anger coursed through me. My blood began to boil. My mouth ran dry. The sound of sirens in the distance clouded my hearing. Ava and the boy went back into the school, the sounds of screaming women emitting from inside the school as the door opened, and abruptly cutting them off when it shut.
Growling, I ran through the trees that were planted along the school fence and around the back of the school to an off route way to get back to Gomez's house.
As I walked back inside, I neatly put Gomez's hoodie back where I had found it and dried my shoes off so that he didn't suspect that I had left.
I sat in my room and stared out the window into the grey oblivion of which we call our town. Nate was going to regret ever even thinking of Ava's name.
