《Mondays (Jensoo Convert)》"If you love it, never give up on it."

"Thanks for tonight, babe." Irene said sweetly before pecking Jennie in the lips and stepping out of the girl's car. "I'll see you tomorrow!"
Jennie nodded and flashed her girlfriend a sad smile. Not once did Irene remember to greet her throughout the day. However, she couldn't say she was surprised. It seemed like every year the couple drifted farther and farther away from each other. She watched the girl's petite frame disappear through the wooden door only then deciding to pull away.
The drive to her house was pretty short and all she could think about was throwing herself in her bed. Once she parked, Jennie was quick to jump out off the car and run to the front door.
"Mom! Dad! I'm home!" She boomed as she entered her humble home.
"Nini." A small voice bounced off the walls followed by a tiny girl dashing towards her. Ella hopped onto her older sister with a toothy grin. "Happy birthday, butterfly queen one."
"Thanks." Jennie chuckled, wrapping her arms tighter as she struggled to hold the small girl up. Her exhaustion was catching up with her but she didn't want it to show. Luckily, she didn't have too. Jisoo emerged from the same direction where Ella had come from.
"Ella." The brown-eyed girl scolded. "You and I are still playing, you know."
The little girl smirked at Jisoo before burying her head into her older sister's neck. Jennie furrowed her eyebrows together as she saw Jisoo approach them.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, shocked evident in her voice.
"Eating dinner..." Jisoo replied casually. It was natural for Jisoo to stay and eat with the Kim's. After many games and practices, the girl had gotten to know Jennie's family and grew close to them. Her eyes caught Jennie's arms quiver slightly and was fast to pull Ella off her teammate. She hated seeing Jennie so drained. "Let's go, Ella you're losing by the way."
Jennie followed the pair to her backyard, where laid a variety of her favorite dishes. Her dad was on the grill talking to Jisoo's father while her mom was placing candles on the cake. She found Ella sitting on top of her teammates shoulders giggling with Jisoo's siblings.
"Jennie, I'm glad you can join us." Jisoo's mom, Dara, beamed as she passed by the celebrant to help set up the table.
"What the hell is going on?" Jennie muttered to herself as she surveyed her crowded backyard.
"Jen!" Jennie's father, Jiyong cheered catching a glimpse of his daughter. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I'm glad you didn't miss your own party." He smiled.
"I didn't know there was a party to miss." Jennie grunted. She loves her family and the idea of the whole dinner but she was tired. All she wanted to do was to lie down in her cozy and sleep.
"C'mon. Let's eat!" Jiyong announced. Jennie trudged over to where the dishes were and sat down by the cake.
"Hey there, grumps." Jisoo addressed plopping down next to her teammate. Jennie groaned dramatically to drive the other girl away only making Jisoo scoot in a little closer. "Have fun on your lame dinner with the mistress?"
Jennie scoffed as she shook her head. Jisoo always thought as herself as Jennie's wife and Irene to be the other girl, which Jennie found highly amusing since it was more likely to be the other way around.
"It wasn't lame." She defended weakly. Dinner with Irene and her friends were always interesting but it wasn't like dinner with Jisoo.

"Well it doesn't compare to this spread." Jisoo motioned to the entire table filled with food.
"If I knew this was going to happen, I wouldn't have eaten so much back at the restaurant." Jennie sighed as she scanned the table her mouth salivating at the different meals.
"Yeah right." Jisoo sneered at the comment. She knew the girl too well and Irene's taste in food. She turned to Jennie and shot her a knowing look. "Let me guess, another vegan restaurant?"
Jennie tensed up as she tried to avoid Jisoo's growing smirk. Jisoo was always right.
"Let it out. Swallow your pride." The girl chuckled as she placed a hand on Jennie's shoulder. "Stop lying to yourself, I know for shit you forced down another vegan lasagna down your throat."
Jennie whipped her head towards Jisoo and glared at the girl. She brushed off her teammates hand and punched her on the shoulder.
"Ow fucker." Jisoo winced, rubbing her hurt shoulder soothingly. Jennie smirked, pleased with the pain she had caused to her teammate. The other girl smiled mockingly and shoved a plate at Jennie. "You're lucky it's your birthday, otherwise, you'd be dead." That was a lie. Jisoo would never hurt Jennie, even if the girl had caused Jisoo more heartache than she knew.
"No, you wouldn't." Jennie replied playfully, sticking her tongue out to the other girl.
"Eat your fucking food." Jisoo huffed passing the plate full of the girl's favorite delicacy. She knew that there was no way of winning that argument.
Both families settled down the long table and ate, enjoying each other's company. Jokes were made and stories were shared. Nothing too big or too loud, just the way Jennie liked it. She watched everyone interact with each other and felt at peace.
"Jendeukie, try this!" Jisoo stuck out her fork in front of Jennie's face, with it a brown blob of something. Jennie backed away and crinkled her nose at the sight.
"Jisoo, get that thing away from me." She warned pushing her teammate's hand away from her. But Jisoo wouldn't budged, she kept inching it towards Jennie.
"Just try it!"
"No!"
"C'mon you big baby. I promise you'll like it."
"Jisoo, I'm serious. Get it away."
"Jennie, stop being a baby." Jisoo challenged knowing it would make the other girl give. She grinned when Jennie's hold loosened. "Alright, here it comes..."
Jennie reluctantly opened her mouth and letting Jisoo pop the piece of food in it. She held her mouth open, trying to buy time to keep her from chewing.
Jisoo rolled her eyes at her teammate's childish act before placing one hand on Jennie's jaw and the other on her forehead. She pushed it together to make Jennie chew it.
As Jennie chewed, a familiar taste caught her attention. She tilted her head to try and guess what it was and then it hit her.
"Plantains?"
"Yup." Jisoo beamed. "With Nutella."
"Interesting..."
"Right! It's something you would have never thought would be good together but they really are." Jisoo gushed as pop a piece in her mouth. She turned to locked eyes with Jennie and smiled. "Just like you and I."
Brown eyes widen as her throat closed on her. Jennie threw her hand out to grab the glass of water in front of her before gulping it all down. Jisoo just laughed a long with her family and Jennie's.
"Careful, Irene might hear you." Jiyong teased from across the table.

"Dad!" Jennie whined.
"I'm just kidding." Her dad said holding her hand up defensively. Jennie turned back to her food while he turned to Jisoo and winked. He always liked Jisoo better than Irene. Actually, he liked her whole family more than the Baes even if he knew them longer, for some reason the Kims were better company.
After the dinner, Jennie blew her candles out and everyone helped clean the backyard. Jennie, Jisoo and Ella worked as a team, gathering the trash and putting it in the bag each carried. Cleaning didn't seem that bad to Jennie, given her tired state because it was with Jisoo. Somehow nothing seemed bad when she was with the brown-eyed girl.
"Chu!" Lisa called. "We're leaving!"
"Coming!" Jisoo shouted back. She picked up the last couple of cups lying around and knotted the trash bag closed. She grabbed Ella's bag and hauled it over her shoulder. But when she made a move to get Jennie's, the birthday girl pulled it away. "Jennie, give me the bag."
"I can do it." Jennie protested.
"I know you can but I'm headed out anyway, let me." Jisoo argued.
"You've done enough. Please."
"No."
"Jisoo."
"Jendeukie, you're tired and exhausted. It's your birthday and it's Monday. Let me do you this one favor. Go upstairs, take a bath then go to sleep." Jisoo commanded before snatching the trash bag from Jennie and placing a chaste kiss on the girl's cheek. "I'll see you tomorrow."
Jisoo carried the trash bags out and left Jennie standing with Ella staring at her in confusion.
"Are you okay, Nini?" Ella tugged on her sister's shirt. Jennie brought a hand up to where Jisoo had kissed her. The feeling of her teammate's lips lingered longer that it should have. It wasn't the first time that happened but it was the first time she wished it were placed somewhere other than her cheek.
"Y-yeah. I'm fine, Ella." Jennie looked down and grabbed Ella's hand. She smiled at the little girl. "Let's go shower."
At the end of the day, Jennie forgot it was Monday. All she knew was that it had been a good day.

Flashback
Jisoo watched Jennie kiss Irene goodbye as the two girls separated to go to their individual sport practices. She rushed over to the brown-eyed girl once Jennie entered the gym. It had been a month after tryouts and Jisoo had gotten to know Jennie more and more. In fact, some may say she had fallen deeper and deeper for the girl each day.
"Let me get that for you." She offered, grabbing on to Jennie's duffel bag since the petite girl carried her schoolbag on her back.
"Thanks." Jennie smiled gratefully at Jisoo as they walked over to the locker room.
"So that was my competition huh?" Her teammate asked bluntly.
"What?" Jennie asked in amusement, craning her head to look over to Jisoo.
"Irene. She's the girl that has your attention right now." Jisoo lifted an eyebrow.
"Yes, Jisoo. She's my girlfriend."
"Does she make you happy?"
Jennie's face contorted. "Of course she does."
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"If she makes you happy then I'm happy. I'll just wait." Jisoo smirked as she held the door open for her teammate. Jennie laughed and shook her head.
"Well you'll be waiting for a long time you know."
"That's fine."
Jennie chuckled as she passed through the door and patted the top of Jisoo's head. The taller girl only frowned at the gesture before following the girl in.
"Jennie! Jisoo!" Rosé greeted as she saw the pair come in.
"Hey Rosé!" The duo replied in unison catching them both in surprise. They looked at each other and busted out in laughter. They raised one hand and waved it against one another. "Twitches."
"Alright, alright, that's enough Jensoo." Lisa taunted from across the room with Yeri beside her, giggling at the name. It was obvious that the two girls had a special bond. Even their teammates had caught onto it after just a few weeks of being together.
Jennie dismissed the comment and flopped on the bench closest to her while Jisoo walked over to where Lisa and Yeri were.
"Girl you need to understand that Jennie is taken. Stop with the flirting." Lisa whispered to Jisoo.
"I'm just being friendly." The girl defended.
"Yeah. Does being friendly mean waiting for them to carry their stuff and act all googly eyes whenever you talk to them?" Yeri sassed.
"What's the big deal? It's just a crush." Jisoo huffed in annoyance.
"Yeah you're going to GET crushed by the end of the day." Lisa said knowingly.
"I know what I'm getting myself into guys."
"Jisoo, it's our freshman year. There are plenty of girls that will come and go throughout the years. Let this one go." Yeri advised as she pulled up her kneepads and walked out of the locker room.
"Yeri's right, Jisoo. Pick and choose your battles. As much as I think you guys would look good together, we have to accept the fact that you've already lost this one." Lisa suggested shooting Jisoo a sad smile. "Try Nayeon, heard she had a huge crush on you and she's on the soccer team."
Lisa followed Yeri out leaving Jisoo in her thoughts. She strolled over to Rosé thinking maybe she would have something positive to say. Her plans changed when she saw Rosé talking to Jennie. Not wanting to give up she cleared her throat causing the two girls to look at her.
"Can I ask you guys something?" Jisoo asked shyly.
"What's up?" Rosé perked up.
"So I have this friend... he uh... he likes this girl but this girl have a boyfriend... and apparently had been going out for a long time. But she- I mean he really thinks she's the one." Jisoo shared cautiously, glancing at Jennie then back to Rosé. "What should he do?"
"Leave them alone." Jennie replied bluntly before turning back to her bag and taking out her shoes. Jisoo's heart dropped as she heard the words come out of her mouth.
"Jennie!" Rosé glared at her teammate.
"What?" Jennie shrugged as she tied her shoes. Jisoo gulped at how harsh the brown-eyed girl was being.
"Chu, don't listen to her." Rosé reassured the pale skinned girl. "I think he should stay his distance but not far enough to be strangers. Stay friends but not too close. If they're meant to be, they'll find a way."
"Thanks, Rosé." Jisoo grinned, her heart feeling light again. The tall girl did have a point. Maybe she needed to give Jennie space.
"No problem. C'mon, we're going to be late for practice." Rosé remarked. The smaller girl nodded and was about to go behind Rosé but Jennie spoke up.
"Wait for me, Jisoo." She struggled to tie her shoes, biting her bottom lip as she concentrated at the knot.
Jisoo knelt down and placed her hand on top of Jennie's. She looked up at those big doe eyes and melted. Everything Rosé just said went over her head. She couldn't resist. "Let me."
Jennie smiled and took her hands off the laces as she stared at Jisoo. Jisoo tied the laces smoothly and without mistake.
"There." Jisoo clapped her hands together and rose up. "The best knot, only for you."
The brunette's cheeks heated up making Jisoo smile. It was the first time she made Jennie blush. She grabbed Jennie's cheeks and pinched them. "Red looks good on you."
Jennie smacked Jisoo's hands away and turned her heels. "Thanks!"
"Hey, wait up." She ran to catch up with Jennie but suddenly bumped into her when she stopped abruptly. "Ow."
Jennie declared. She craned her head to the side to get a glimpse of Jisoo. "Tell your friend that if he really loves her, don't give up on her. He'll regret it if he does. Never give up on something you love."
Jisoo's heart raced. When everyone was telling her to give up on Jennie, the girl herself is telling her to keep at it. She smiled to herself as she made up her mind. Who's better to get advice from than the person you are hopelessly in love with?
"I won't." She promised. Jennie raised an eyebrow at her, making her realize her slip up. "I-I mean, I'll tell him not to. He won't."
"Nice talk, Kim." Jennie chuckled.
