《Darling》Beths room evening 1862

Jo jerks suddenly awake- she doesn't see Beth in the bed. She rises and with growing panic screams. "Marmee!Marmee!" Jo rushes down stairs to find Beth sitting up with her, mother and Hannah eating. Jo cries with joy kissing Beth's head. "Merry Christmas,Beth."

March House Living Room Afternoon 1862

It's Christmas time again. Amy standing on a chair supervises all the decorations telling Lottie where to put everything. Mr Laurence and Marmee sit by the fire watching the pair, and Beth on the couch with her doll. Jo runs around with Hannah setting the table for their feast. At just that moment, Laurie pops his head in and with wild excitement in his eyes ,announces " and here is another Christmas gift for the March family!" The door swing open and it's father, supported by Mr Brooke. Mayhem breaks out Beth starts crying Amy throws the decorations at Lottie and proceeds to fall on top of her, Marmee gasps, Jo drops a dish, and Meg (again) spontaneously kisses Mr Brooke. All the girls run to him, surrounding him in a hug. As Lottie gets up off the ground smiling putting the decorations down and walking over to Laurie and her grandfather laying her head on Laurie's shoulder.

Father smiles joyfully "My little women. How you've grown, and how proud I am off you.

Each of you. Merry Christmas, my dears." He looks over them to Marmee who is gazing back at him with love. She wasn't sure this moment would come for her, and she can hardly believe she has her family together. Father steps out of his daughters hug to embrace his wife. Marmee crying out of happiness embraces him " Thank god, thank god you're home. Now I can be angry at you in person. How did you do it though how did you convince them to let you come home." Father just smiled and looked over at Lottie"Your granddaughter is very persuasive Mr Laurence she wrote letters everyday since Marmee and Mr Brooke arrived telling them how I would do so much better if I was recovering at home with my daughters to help look after me." Everyone turned to Lottie surprised as she hid her face in Laurie's neck not liking all the attention. Everyone but Father was surprised they had not known about Lottie writing to the army she hadn't told anyone. The four March girls ran over to her embracing her in a hug knocking them all to the floor with the force. Father laughs and turns to Marmee wiping her tears away. It's romance but the real kind.

Later Amy drags Lottie to her room "we will never be able to thank you enough Lottie I will never be able to thank you enough it's all we've wanted your amazing absolutely amazing." Amy grabs her into another hug and kisses her on the cheek " I only did what you would do for me Amy, I understand what it's like not having a father around and how much it hurts not having him or Marmee around. I love you Amy all of you and if I could help them that is what I was going to do. But your actual present is behind you." Lottie smiled as Amy turned to look at her bed covered in canvases and paints and pages to draw on. Amy grabbed Lottie into another hug kissing all over her face "I love you oh god your to kind honestly Lottie any man is going to be so lucky to marry you." Lottie smiled sadly at Amy. Beth came running up the stairs "dinner is ready come on." She grabbed Lottie's hand and dragged her down the stairs.

It's Christmas dinner, with everyone, including the Laurences and Mr Brooke, gathered around the table it's the finest day anyone of them have has ever had, and the joy radiates across the chilly Christmas night.
