Chapter 3:

I groaned as my chest and head were considerably sore. Boy, what I wouldn't give for some ibuprofen right now. I rolled over and hit something hard. I furrowed my eyebrows, still keeping my eyes shut. Had I hit a wall the bed was against? No, I had to still be at Jonah's, and there, my bed was in the center of the room. Plus, I always slept on the left side of the bed and I rolled to my right. I opened one eye and screamed. Had I gotten drunk and slept with a guy?

"Noooo....no. no. no. NO! This can't be happening!" I lept out of bed. The man jumped awake and looked around for any sign of danger. Sparks flew through my body as I saw his shirtless figure. He had on pants that were slung low and I couldn't help but admire every muscle on his body.

"Are you okay?"

"We....we didn't you know....." He looked at me with an eyebrow raised.

"What? I'm sorry, I'm not following."

"Oh My Gosh...we didn't have sex, right?" I finally blurted. His eyes shot open wide.

"No. I would never take advantage of a girl like that. Especially my mate. I just fell asleep, that's all." I sighed, but when I processed what he said my eyes flew up to meet his.

"Wait, we're mates?" He smiled, OMG his smile! It was like a million stars.

"Last time I checked we were. I mean, I didn't even think it was possible yet here you are." I giggled. "I'm sorry, where are my manners. My names Alexander, Alexander Stone. You can call me pretty much anything, a lot of people call me Alex. Except my sister, Julie, she calls me Alexander, though I'm not sure why..." He went on a tiny rant until I walked up and kissed him on the lips.

"I'm Baila, Baila Daniels."

"What was that for?"

"I've been looking for you for 10 months now. Who knew I'd find you at a wedding on the other side of the country!" Alex and I were the ones who Artemis was talking about. We were the .001%, I should've seen that one coming...

"Wait. You knew about second chance mates?" Alex asked in wonder. I told him everything. From me getting rejected, to becoming Artemis's ambassador, to keeping Jonah from committing suicide, it all came flooding from my mouth.

"Wow, you've had an interesting ride."

"You don't say. So, what happened to me last night?"

"Your first mate mated with another female. It sent your wolf into a frenzy and your body into shock."

"Why?"

"It was his wolf breaking off the last ties he has with yours. Finding me was the icing on the cake and what really did you over. Completely losing your mate, and finding your mate are two things a wolf wants to delve into fully. She or he needs the time to recuperate after that has happened and to cope with the changing scenarios. Your wolf had to take on both of those tasks at the same time and your body overloaded and began to shut down mentally. That's why you've been out for three days."

"Three Whole Days!" Alex nodded.

"You had me really worried."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean too."

"No, it's fine. I totally understand."

I couldn't help but smile at him. He was perfect, charming, not to mention sexy and incredibly attractive. I eyed him over from head to toe and he fell over laughing.

"What?"

"Am I hot to you?"

"Well, you're attractive, but I've seen better." I teased. His eyes shot from their beautiful blue to a dark black in an instant. He tackled me, straddled my waist slammed his lips onto mine in a rough, heated kiss.

"Mine." He said possessively. That's when I knew that my mate was an Alpha.

"What pack?" He looked at me with confusion. "What pack are you the Alpha of?"

"OH!" He said, calming down. "Silver Moon, here in California. I basically run over half this state. Jonah, the Alpha here, owns and runs the rest. I'm so sorry for that by the way. My wolf gets jealous easily and to be honest, so do I." I nodded my head. He got up off of me and pulled me up after him.

"I understand, so do I. I shouldn't have teased you. I know if you told me that you've seen hotter girls, I'd blow up too." Just the thought of Alex saying that had my eyes darkening. Alex caught it and pulled me close into his lap as he sat on the bed.

"Between you and me, you are the sexiest, most attractive, most beautiful wolf in the world and nothing will change that."

"You're just saying that because I'm your mate."

"Me being your mate doesn't have anything to do with the truth." He murmured into my neck, gently kissing it. I groaned as he nipped and sucked on the skin. Both our eyes turned gold with lust, then there was a knock on the door. Alex groaned. "Who is it?" He growled, clearly annoyed.

"It's Jonah, Is Baila conscious yet?" He shook his head, tightening his grip on my waist.

"Yes? We're having mate time."

"DUDE! Do that in your own bed, back at your pack. Not in Julie and I's bed." I looked at Alexander. He was smirking while my face was as red as a tomato. Of course, that made my dear mate literally fall over laughing....again.

"You can come in Jonah. Alex wasn't fortunate enough to get that lucky. Besides, at the rate he's going it'll probably be months before he gets any." This made him freeze and look at me, his face said it all. Jonah started laughing his head off.

"Welcome to the world of having a sassy mate, man. Your sister was the same way until we...." Jonah trailed off and his face paled. Alex looked at him, with his eyebrow raised.

"Until we?" He tilted his head.

"You know what? I think I hear Julie calling me. I'd better go see what she needs. Good to see you conscious, Baila!" and he took off through the door.

"Get dressed and I'll make breakfast when I'm done beating him up." Alex kissed my cheek and took off after Jonah. I could hear them both knocking over stuff and Jonah trying to come up with excuses. Than I heard Alex yell something about how that was his sister. It was hilarious.

Julie walked in a minute later and handed me some clothes and a towel to take a shower with. I was grateful, because I smelled terrible. She chuckled as we heard another vase break downstairs from the boys running around.

"Julie, is this really you and Jonah's room?"

"One of them, it's a guest room, Jonah's OCD about keeping them clean though. Me, I'm just like, we're part animal that's just a reality. When the urge comes you have to answer it." I blushed at that. I may be almost nineteen but the idea of having sex was still an awkward concept.

"How do you talk about that like it's no big deal?"

"Easy, once you're with your mate, your wolf just guides you through it."

"I'm with my mate and my wolf isn't guiding me through that stuff."

"Well your wolf did have quite the shock three days ago. She's probably still a little groggy." I nodded. "Take a shower, I'm sure that will help you both." She nodded her head towards the bathroom and I smiled. It did sound really good.

"Thanks Julie."

"Anything for my brother's mate. You don't know what he was like when he got rejected."

"Oh?" She smiled, kindly.

"I'll let him tell you that stuff. It's not my story to share." I nodded, I was impressed by how much respect and love she had for him.

I climbed in the shower and a small moan escaped my lips as the warm water ran down my body. It felt so good to wash away all the dirt and grime from the past couple days and feel somewhat fresh. I could hear my wolf as she enjoyed the peacefulness too. It wasn't until I took a step forward in the shower that I slipped and heard a snap in my ankle with a lot of pain following. I couldn't get a break could I, I grumbled. I tried getting up, only to find I'd snapped my ankle in half. I was stuck.

I used my wolf hearing to listen around hoping someone was up stairs that could help me up, but luck wasn't on my side. It was dead silent. I sat there for a minute and had to think about what to do. I threw my head back with a groan, when I realized there was only one way that I would get help and it was going to hurt. I had to open my mind, press on my ankle and hope Alex could feel my pain and would come looking for me. I sighed. I just had to be a clutz.... I took in a deep breath and relaxed, letting my mind open and my wolf call and connect to our mate. Then I pushed hard onto my broken ankle. Pain flew through my leg and I yelped. That better have worked because if it hadn't I was going to be pissed.

In less than a minute I heard the door downstairs bang open. Alex sounded panicked as he asked everyone if they knew where I was. It wasn't until Julie said that I was in the shower that I heard the thumps of someone running up the stairs. I let out a sigh of relief when I heard a bang on the bathroom door.

"Baila, are you in there?"

"Alex?"

"Yeah." He tried the doorknob. Dammit! I had locked the door to prevent anyone from walking in on me! Well that sure helps when I need someone to walk in on me! "Baila, are you okay? Are you hurt? What's wrong?" Alex said somewhat desperately.

"I slipped in the shower and snapped my ankle. Alex, I'm stuck. I...I...I can't get up."

"Why'd you lock the door?!?!" He said trying it again.

"I don't know! I always do that! Normally, I stay with other wolves and I didn't want anyone to walk in on me being naked." Alex growled at that thought. "Can't you break the door down."

"Do you give me permission to do that? I mean, I know how you feel about the whole sex thing, Julie clued me in on that."

"Alex, what are you talking about? This has got nothing to do with sex!"

"Baila, you said you fell in the shower, wouldn't that mean you're not wearing any clothes?" Alex said some what exasperated.

"Aww shit!" I could picture a smug smile on his face. I tried to get up one more time but failed miserably and the water was on still and it was starting to get cold. I needed help and I knew that only help I was getting was on the other side of that door. "Okay, you know what?"

"What?"

"It's not like you're never going to see it. Please, can you just come help me? The water's starting to get cold and I can't even reach the handle to turn it off." I whimpered. This got to Alex. He quickly bashed down the door and shut off the water. I took a sigh of relief when the cold water finally stopped, serves me right for taking a super long shower. However, Alex couldn't help but stop and stare when he saw me lying there in the tub stark naked.

"Damn."

"Alex, can you help me up, now? Please?" He nodded and wrapped his arms around my wet body, lifting me out of the shower. He gently set me down by the counter, using him as a crutch he held my waist and faced me.

His eyes were bright gold as he took in my body. He couldn't help but kiss me in that moment. His tongue sliding into my mouth and his hands moving up and down my bare skin without shame. My eyes were wide though, this was far out of my comfort zone and not something I was ready for.

"A...Alex." I said slightly pushing away.

"Yes?" He said in a husky voice.

"I'm sorry, but I'm not ready for that just yet...." I felt ashamed to tell him, but he just nodded with a small smile. Alex pulled a white bathrobe off a nearby hook and wrapped it around me. I smiled gratefully as he picked me up bridal style again and carried me into the bedroom.

"Okay, why don't you get dressed and I'll take you to see the pack doctor. Okay?" I nodded as he tossed me some clothes and turned around so he couldn't see.

"Thanks,"

"No problem, so quick question. Just out of curiosity because no one knows..."

"Yes?"

"How old are you?"

"Oh! I'm eighteen, going on nineteen in two months."

"Wow,"

"What? Is there something wrong with that?"

"No, it's just I'm going on twenty-two in one month."

"Oh, three years. That's not that bad. My Dad's five years older that my mom. She was eighteen and he was twenty-three when they found each other."

"That's different." He replied.

"Yeah, with him being an Alpha it didn't surprise anyone, though. That's normally how it goes. There's at least a year between alphas and their mates."

"Wait. Your dad's an Alpha?" He said turning around. I was just pulling on my shirt.

"Yes?" I replied, brushing out my mess of hair.

"Which pack?" He asked curiously.

"Does it matter?" I didn't want to return to my pack and risk running into Seth. I was strong, but not that strong.

"Baila..."

"What?"

"It's nice for me as an Alpha to know where the future Luna of my pack came from."

"Alex. It's a good pack in the north east region."

"What happened that you don't want to tell me, your mate, about it?" Alex stressed the mate part of his sentence. He was clearly getting a little irritated. My wolf and I could feel it.

"Nothing, okay?"

"If it was nothing then why can't you just tell me? Whatever it is, you can trust me. If it happened before us then I can't hold you responsible. Did you sleep with your first mate or something? If that's it then I definitely can't blame you, you two were mates. Assuming you aren't anymore because you don't have a mark and you're my mate. I don't get what would be so bad that you can't tell me it."

"I don't want to go back to my pack because I don't want to see my mate who rejected me! Okay?" I snapped and started crying. This was the first time in a long time that I actually talked about or cried about Seth. Alex sighed and walked over to the bed. He sat down beside me and just rubbed my back and comforted me.

"Why'd he reject you?"

"Because I wasn't a slut."

"What?"

"He slept around a lot. Sex was really important to him, more important that his mate, I guess. So when he found out we were mates the first thing he asked was if I was good in bed. We had a huge fight and in the end he said either I needed to change or it wouldn't work. My mom always told me to never change who you are just for one person, so I said he was the one who needed to change and he rejected me."

"Wow, he sounds like a fun guy." Alex joked. A shoved him with a smile. "But being serious, your mom was right. You shouldn't change for anyone, I'm positive you're perfect just the way you are."

"Who knew a big bad Alpha could be such a softy."

"Just when it comes to my beautiful mate whom I've known for three days and already love."

"You love me?"

"Baila, I love you with all my heart."

"I love you too." He kissed my forehead and I wiped away my tears. I couldn't believe I got this lucky.

"Now, lets go get this Ankle checked out, shall we?" I nodded and he picked me up like I weighed nothing. "By the way, I'm hoping we'll be mated by the time we go and meet your family." I raised my eyebrow, random much?

"Why is that?"

"I want to meet your old mate and tell him just how much he was missing." I laughed.

"You have such a perv mind." I playfully smacked his arm.

"I can't help it, you're just so hot. I mean that body....damn." He nibbled on my ear and I smiled.

"Babe."

"Hmmm?"

"Doctor?" 

"Oh! That's right!" I laughed as he took me out of the room and out the front door.
