Chapter 13
Seth's POV:
The cell was damp and dirty and loud. I groaned as yet another man shifted and his wolf slammed into the silver bars, burning his skin in the process. Some of these rogues (a wolf without a pack that just runs wild) were just so damn stupid. They shifted in these tiny cells and when their wolves are too big, they hit the silver bars which silver burns werewolves so thus it would leave severe burns on his skin. Another one did it and howled in pain. Like I said, they're stupid.
"What're you in here for?" The rogue next to me questioned. He had been quiet since I arrived. I was shocked at his question.
"Disrespected a Luna from another pack."
"What'd you do that for?"
"Well..." I found myself telling this rogue everything. From finding Baila to seeing her again. "Now she is carrying the other Alpha's pups, which just sucks, you know?"
"What pack is she the Luna of?"
"Silver Moon." The rogue nodded with a weird glint in his eye.
"And she's carrying pups?"
"Twins, I think." He nodded thoughtfully.
"Well, sound's like a bummer man. But, you know what? Sometimes we all must let things go and move on yes?" I nodded.
"What are you in here for?"
"Aside from being a rogue?" I chuckled, our pack put all rogues in prison. It was simple procedure.
"True." He nodded.
"This will be my fourth time in a prison, I think by now my wolf has just accepted it." I nodded again and he began chipping away at the brick behind us.
"Can't get out you know? We're underground." He looked at me with an eyebrow raised.
"How far underground?"
"Twelve feet." He nodded and quit chipping.
"What do you suggest?"
"I'm here on a time out, my brother will come and get me any day now. I don't know what to do for you."
"Well, I believe in surprises." I laughed, just as Elliot came down with the key. He handed me it quickly.
"Why aren't you unlocking it?"
"The Alpha said that you could come out when you figured out how to get out. I thought I'd give you a head start." I nodded at my grinning brother. "If anyone asks, I wasn't the one who gave you it. Got it?" I nodded and he looked at the rogues around me. "And only you escape, okay?"

"Got it,"
"See ya at home." He left and I unlocked the door. My neighbor chuckled. He wasn't that bad, after all he was just some rogue that had trespassed right? I stuck the key in his cell and unlocked the door. He smiled.
"Thank you, my young friend." I nodded and returned the smile.
"Just don't let anyone catch you leave, got it?"
"Will do."
With that we went our separate ways. Elliot hugged me when I got back and made me promise I wasn't going to do anything stupid like that again. I laughed and nodded. My rogue friend was right, sometimes we had to let things go. If I was Baila, I wouldn't take me back either. Now, I just needed to pray that Artemis will forgive me and I might get a second mate too.
That night, I slept soundly in my bed. It was amazing the things you appreciate after being in prison for a couple days. A nice warm bed happened to be one of them. Just then my door busted open and the Alpha with a very scarred Luna and very tired Elliot walked in. Elliot looked clueless as to what was going on, the Alpha must have dragged him out of bed. Speaking of, the Alpha looked pissed.
"Did you know who you let out with you?" He commanded. Elliot's eyes shot open.
"Pardon me?"
"Prison, do you know who it was that you just let out?"
"Yeah, some rogue that helped me and befriended me while I was in there?"
"Seth, I told you not to let anyone out with you." Elliot said, I could tell he was disappointed I hadn't followed his instruction. He also was slightly ticked off. "You have no idea who the hell was down there!"
"Who was the guy? If he was so special, tell me?"
"Only, the most powerful rogue ever. He leads them, everyone knows that. He's the one who they all follow like their own Alpha. He's the Alpha of the rogues."
"Okay?"
"You idiot, do you know what he was here for?"
"I don't know, he told me that he had just trespassed and that's why."
"He's out to kill, he lost his mate and now he wants everyone to pay hell for it. You just set a mass murder free." I almost puked...Baila.

"Oh no..."
"What?" The Luna asked.
"You told him about Baila and the twins, didn't you." I nodded with tears freely flowing down my face. The Alpha punched me, hard.
"Twins? Baila? She told me she wasn't pregnant!" Screeched the Luna.
"She didn't want you to go grandchildren crazy. What with our own boys on the way. No offense darling, you can get a little overbearing."
"Oh," Then the Alpha turned back to me.
"I want you off my land. You are banished from this pack and if you cross these borders without permission, I'll have you killed. I don't care if your family is in this pack or not. You are a disgrace to them, to me, and to this pack. Go back to the rogue you sold out too. You're no better than he is." He spat at me. "You have 20 minutes to grab stuff and be off this territory. I trust our pack doctor will see to it."
He looked Elliot straight in the eye. He was challenging him to defend me. Elliot had tears dripping down his face, I was his brother. I knew he loved me but there was nothing he could do. The Alpha was right, he was the head pack doctor and defending me would just put him in a lot of trouble. I looked at my brother and nodded. I couldn't expect him to do anything more than what he did, which was shove me in the direction of the house to pack my things.
"You're a fool you know." he muttered as I packed a backpack with clothes.
"I didn't know. He seemed so nice."
"Well, nice doesn't mean let him out. He was in there for a reason!" I nodded.
"I learned a little too late..."
"You think Seth? You're my brother! Now I have to personally kick you off the land and will probably never see you again."
"Elliot, I swear I'm going to make this right. I'm going after that rogue. I'm going to kill him before he gets the chance to hurt Alex or Baila." I said slinging my backpack over my shoulder. I'd said goodbye to my parents, who were sad to see me go but happy because they wouldn't be so ashamed anymore. Then Elliot and I walked outside and turned towards the border, a mile from our house.
"Just be careful, Okay?" I laughed.
"Aren't I always." He just shook his head. Before long we arrived in a clearing that the border was on. Elliot gave me a hug and started weeping. I knew me leaving would hurt him, but he seemed to be taking it worse than I thought.
"If you ever need anything, our mind link will still be intact. I want it opened and since we're brothers we can keep it even if we're not in the same pack." I nodded. "I'll miss you greatly brother." He said, grabbing me for another, longer hug. Now I started to get teary eyed.
"Not as much as I'll miss you, Elliot." He squeezed me tighter before letting go.
"You better get going. Don't forget to call and be careful, yeah?"
"Of course, take care of yourself, okay?"
"You too."
With that, I was forced to cross the boundary line and I felt my mind go quiet. The only connection I had now was with Elliot. I looked back at him and he nodded with a tearstained face. I chuckled, knowing mine wasn't much better. Elliot gave me one last wave before he started walking back to the house and I was forced to shift into my brown wolf and run away from my home, my pack, all I had ever known. I ran west, into a war, into an adventure, where nothing was ever certain.

Beatrice Santello
An adult imagining of Beatrice Santello's life prior to the events of Night in the Woods. There are no explicit depictions of sex here, though there are obviously adult themes and situations involving it. I wasn't going to post it to Royalroad as I didn't think Fanfiction was okay here - but now I see it is and I am quite convinced it is the best work I've ever done yet, I've got to see what any fans of NitW think about it! The first chapter was originally written as a short vignette and wasn't intended to be continued into a full blown story. It was just intended to be moody and evocative. Even though anyone that has played Night in the Woods has a good idea how this must end, I hope it will still be worth the read. Also, since I've finished writing it, I'm going to post it as one big chapter dump all at once. Cover drawing by GreasyMojo and colored by me (with permission!). I don't think it should be too risque on it's own but I suppose I'll soon find out.
