I flopped down on the bed and groaned.
"Ew Y/n get up, you didn't shower and your sweaty." Jasmine smacked my back.
I flinched and lifted my head smacking my lips.
The exhaustion I'm feeling due to my practice for the BET awards is insane.
I rolled my eyes and laid back down. "I'm too tired."
She pouted. "Awww they're overworking you huh?"
I nodded feeling like crying. "Shut up Jasmine, I don't feel like being teased right now."
She raised a brow. "Don't get an attitude with me, watch who you're talking to."
I sighed. "I'm sorry, I'm just really fucking stressed and I have a short temper right now. I kind of snapped on like ten people and I don't even feel bad."
She nodded. "I get it, you have to work hard now. You're going to be stressed often but, don't bring that stress home yeah?"
Home huh?
I smiled softly. "Yes, ma'am."
She hummed. "How many songs are you doing?"
"Ummmm only two but it's like...a lot."
She chuckled. "Right right." She reached out and rubbed my back as she clicked play on the remote.
I closed my eyes and hummed as her nails scratched my clothed back.
I tried to relax but, I just couldn't. Not because I'm sweaty or stressed but, because of Summer.
After we came back from our "adventure" she started acting weird. She wouldn't say a word to me during the whole ride, she didn't even say bye, and she wouldn't look at me like she felt guilty about something. It's been three days and we haven't talked, and now that I think about it I haven't talked to Vanessa either.
Knowing me, all the worst thoughts are running through my head.
Maybe she only has like a week to live and she wants to go on a road trip with a stranger...I don't know.
"What's wrong?" Jasmine patted my back twice.
I cracked an eye open and frowned. "What do you mean?"
She paused her show and looked down at me. "Your not snoring, I see how tired you are and I know that you love getting your back scratched. What's wrong?"
I sighed and shook my head. "I don't know, I just feel like Summer is hiding something that I would care about."
She raised a brow. "Like?"
I shrugged. "I'm not exactly sure."
Jasmine hummed. "Well lucky for you her and Vanessa are on the way here."
"Really? See that's what I mean why didn't they tell me? Not only has Summer been acting weird but I haven't talked to Vanessa since we went out."
I sat up and Jasmine nodded. "Wanna have an intervention when they get here?"
I pouted. "Yes."
She glanced down at my lips and rolled her eyes looking away. I smiled softly and looked past her at the crib. I stood and walked over to it smiling as I looked down at my sleeping babies.
I bent down and kissed both of their heads. "I didn't even say hi, I'm sorry."
I leaned back and sighed before stretching.
"Hey."
I raised a brow looking back at Jasmine. "Yeah."
"Umm, I just want to make sure you meant what you said the other day."
"The other day..."
"About moving on and not wasting any more time with Vanessa."
I nodded slowly and walked towards her. "Um yeah, I meant it why?"
She shrugged looking down at her hands. "Just remember you said that and also remember that you two aren't together yet."

I frowned. "You know something I don't Jazzy?"
She huffed meeting my eyes. "No...but am I speculating something? Hell yeah."
"Something like?"
The doorbell rang and Jasmine jumped up. "Don't worry about it, sweetheart."
I chuckled as she ran out of the room and downstairs. Sitting on her bed I bit my lip and hummed.
What could she be speculating?
Hmmm, what could Summer and Vanessa be hiding that causes them to act weird around me?
Hmmm...
I gasped.
Shaking my head I shrugged. "I don't fucking know."
"Talking to yourself?"
My head snapped up as Vanessa chuckled walking into the room. Summer and Jasmine followed behind and I chuckled.
"You caught me lacking."
She smiled and glanced at Summer causing her smile to immediately fall.
I glanced at Jasmine who was looking between the two.
Yup, time to talk- wait who should I talk to?
"Um Y/n, can we talk real quick?" Vanessa nodded towards the hall and I shot up.
Thanks for solving my dilemma.
"Yeah."
We walked out of the room and I followed her downstairs until she stopped and turned to me.
"Okay um..."
I raised a brow and sat on a stool nodding towards the one next to me.
She sat and sighed. "Okay, we're not together right?"
I chuckled. "Right?"
She met my eyes. "I kissed Summer."
So that's why they were acting weird.
I won't lie, I feel some type of way but who am I to feel any type of way when I literally have twins with my first love.
"Okay."
"Okay?"
I shrugged. "We're not together like you said, it's not like you cheated."
She nodded. "Right I just, I had to tell you because I didn't want you to find out later and be-"
"Are you going to be with her?"
She frowned. "What?"
"I mean, you both were ignoring me and I thought it was because you guys wanted to get together and didn't know how to tell me."
She quickly shook her head. "No, I don't want to be with...I still want to be with you."
Yet you kissed Summer.
I inhaled deeply...calm down Y/n, don't get mad at her because you need a nap.
I stood and nodded. "Cool."
She quickly stood. "That's it? Conversation over?"
I shrugged. "You said a quick talk."
She scoffed. "Are you mad at me?"
I'm getting there.
I shook my head. "Not at all."
"Good because you shouldn't be."
Huh?
I frowned. "Wait, I can't be mad because you kissed a girl you have feelings for when you said you want to be with me?"
"You literally just described yourself and Jasmine."
I nodded. "Right but the difference is that your aware I want- or at least wanted Jasmine too."
"Okay and I-"
"You told me you two had a past and that your mines, remember?"
She looked down. "Look I was drunk and I don't remember what even happened when I kissed her. So, I'm sorry if that's what you want to hear, just don't be a hypocrite yeah?"
I scoffed. "A hypocr- Vanessa I told Jasmine, the night you kissed the girl you said you didn't want to be with, that I'm focusing on you and only you. At this point I know I want to try with you and-"
"Took you long enough." She exclaimed.
I shrugged. "And? I know now but, you didn't even give me a chance to show you that I only want you because your already kissing someone else."

"Y/n I was drun- we're not together."
"So why did you feel the need to tell me?"
She shrugged. "I didn't want you to get the wrong idea."
"But why would I if we're not together?"
She rolled her eyes. "Whatever Y/n."
Fuck this.
"Yeah whatever, tell Jasmine I said bye." I turned to walk to the door but she quickly grabbed my wrist.
"Your leaving?"
I nodded. "Don't wanna be here right now."
She stared into my eyes for a second before shrugging and letting go of my wrist. Without another word, she walked upstairs and I rolled my eyes heading out of the house.
I climbed into my car and scoffed as I felt my frustration build up.
I'm being a hypocrite?
I started the car and started towards my house.
Bullshit...well.
I sighed and shook my head.
That was really fucking immature of me. First I snapped on her because I have too much going on and now I'm saying I wasn't being a hypocrite, how the hell can I be mad at her?
I groaned.
This love shit is getting old.
-
I walked into the silent house and walked into the kitchen grabbing a beer before walking into the living room and sitting on the couch next to Quincy who was already sipping on a beer.
I sighed and went to open the beer and groaned when it wouldn't open.
He chuckled and took the beer from my hands sitting it down. "What are you doing?"
I pouted and leaned back. "I don't know I don't even like fucking beer."
He shook his head. "What's your problem?"
"I just had a fight with Vanessa."
He took a sip of his beer and hummed.
"She fucking kissed Summer and then called me a hypocrite for getting mad."
"Well..."
I glared at him. "Shut up I know that was hypocritical of me-"
"No, I wasn't going to say that."
"You weren't?"
He shook his head. "Vanessa said she still had feelings for Summer right?"
I nodded.
"Right, the thing is, even though it's not exactly right, you did tell Vanessa straight up your still in love with Jasmine and she knew that. I feel like what you did with Jasmine- even though you two haven't done anything for a while, at least from what I know. Anyways I just feel like you and Vanessa have different um... experiences."
"Okay?"
He sighed. "First of all, when you were still kissing Jasmine and shit you and Vanessa weren't as serious as the two of you are now. You let Vanessa know how you felt about Jasmine and you let Vanessa know how you felt about her. From what you told me, Vanessa made it seem like you had nothing to worry about even though she said she still had slight feelings for Summer. Not only that but the shit you told me for sure had me thinking that Vanessa was all for you. Now I get it if Vanessa told you she's conflicted between you and Summer but she didn't. Vanessa wouldn't have the right to be mad if you kissed Jasmine because you told her straight up you don't know who you want, so you being mad wasn't hypocritical because Vanessa said she only wanted you."
"I think that makes sense? So I'm not tripping?"
"Not at all. You have every right to be mad at Vanessa because she said she'll take a risk for you but, you didn't expect to have to take a risk too- at least not when it came to Summer."
"I guess but, we aren't even dating so...I mean that's what she said too so."
Quincy scoffed and chugged his beer. "That's bs."
"What?"
"You two aren't together so her kissing someone else shouldn't matter?" Quincy shook his head. "Since when was that an excuse? If you have feelings for someone and they have feelings for you neither should be fucking others because how the hell are you going to form a relationship if the both of you aren't solely focused on each other."
I mean, he's not wrong but, what was his problem?
"But you just said if I kissed Jasmine Vanessa wouldn't have the right to be-"
"Yeah because you're in love with two girls so your not focusing on one girl dumbass."
Uh, okay?
"You cool my guy?"
Quincy put down his empty beer bottle and grabbed the one I had before cracking it open and gulping it down.
I nodded and took the beer from him. "What's your problem?"
He clenched his jaw. "I mean Y/n, why don't you say fuck relationships and focus on you? Your career is just taking off dude. Do you need to be loved that bad?"
See I would be offended if this wasn't Quincy.
"Okay?"
He rolled his eyes. "Fuck Vanessa, fuck Jasmine, fuck Summer- fuck love! Just do you so you don't end up hurt again and again. You've been through enough so I don't understand why you keep jumping from girl to girl. At this point, if I were you, I would assume none of them want me."
"Ouch."
He glanced at me and sighed. "I'm sorry."
"It's cool."
He looked down and bit his lip.
"What happened Quinchilla?"
"Karma."
"Karma?"
His watery eyes met mines as his bottom lip quivered. "I caught Jimmie fucking his best friend."
Wow.
I sighed and held my arms open causing him to instantly throw himself into them.
"I-I didn't think this karma shit was actually real. N-Now I don't only f-feel horrible because I got cheated on b-but because this is what I made Jasmine feel."
I nodded. "Yeah, shit sucks huh?"
He nodded and sniffed as he tried to hold back a whimper.
I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply trying to stop myself from cutting off Jimmies dick.
I leaned back and cupped his cheeks. "Like you said, right now fuck love, let's just focus on ourselves right?"
He wiped his nose. "Well you have kids now so you can't exactly-"
I rolled my eyes. "Shut up you know what I mean."
He chuckled and nodded. "I'll be fine, it's not like I was in love with him."
I raised a brow and Quincy sighed nodding.
"Dude I was so in love with him."
I nodded pulling him back into me as the tear poured out of his eyes. "It's going to be okay, just think of our lives as a story you know? At the end of the day, we'll have a happy ending."
He sighed. "Not every story has a happy ending."
Damn.
"True."
He lifted his head and raised a brow. "But?"
I chuckled and shrugged. "Shit, I don't have anything. Your right, not every story has a happy ending but, what might be a happy ending to some might not be a happy ending to others you feel me?"
He nodded. "Right, and what some might see as a bad ending might be a good ending to others."
"Exactly, basically I guess all you have to do is, at the end of our story, try to find the good in...the end."
He nodded. "Well right now? Fuck this story."
"Man I feel you." He wiped his cheeks and I sighed. "Travis sleep?"
He nodded.
"Then, let's get drunk and vibe, just two best friends. I think we both need it right now. No girl talk, no boy talk, no work talk, just vibing. I can even go get some LED lights while you make us a martini, set up some snacks, and find like ten movies to watch."
He laughed and nodded. "Sounds good."
I stood and pulled him up with me. "Great, me and you Quincy, forever okay? I'll always be here for you."
He smiled. "And I swear I'll always be here for you."
I chuckled. "Thank you."
He kissed my cheek and pushed me. "Okay, stop being gay and go get the lights."
I nodded and walked towards the door.
"Oh and get some Capri suns for when Travis wakes up!"
"I got you!"
Honestly, there's always shit going on in life, good and bad. And sometimes you just need somebody to hold your hand.
I pulled the door open and frowned looking at a Hispanic man with his hand raised as if he was about to knock.
He chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "I was just about to knock."
I nodded slowly. "Who are you?"
He nodded and held his hand out. "Right um, I'm Diego Márquez."
I squinted. "Like Dora's cousin?"
He chuckled and nodded. "Exactly."
I nodded. "Okay?"
He cleared his throat. "Right um, I'm here to see Travis."
I tensed up. "What do you want with my little brother?"
The man sighed. "Well um...I'm his biological father."
"Excuse me?"
This shit just never ends.

Dark Matter
In the year 2023, scientists investigating the nature of dark matter caused a blackout throughout the entire world of Coranth. With this blackout came the appearance of supernatural and near-magical elemental abilities able to be wielded by all. By harnessing the dark matter in the environment, even ordinary humans now accessed powers that would have been deemed fantasy. These abilities include Wind, Fire, Lightning, Water, and Terra, being the five natural elements of which dark matter is absorbed by the planet itself. Additionally, the two moons orbiting Coranth offer the "Superior" elements of Dark and Light. The year is now 2041, and Dark Matter will follow the story of an adolescent boy named Raiden Sullivan in a dystopian future, 16 years old, eldest of 2, and son to Marcus Sullivan. Raiden is an intelligent young man belonging to a poor family with an absentee mother. He partakes in daily chores to cover living expenses after school and his home life is surrounded by his caring father and younger sister. In truth, this is my take on urban fantasy with slight LitRPG that keeps the "magic" elements somewhat scientific for a more realistic story. In using the dark matter surrounding our universe, humans can now harness elemental abilities as well as absorb dark matter from the beasts/monsters to further strengthen their abilities. For the most part, that'll be the main premise of the power system. Full transparency, this will be the first story I write and also the first story I publish, so please be patient with me. For some context, I'm an avid reader and after 4 or so years of only consuming, I feel that it might be time to try my hand at writing instead. Please feel free to add your opinions and criticism, it would be much appreciated. With that said, I hope you enjoy Dark Matter!
