After watching a marathon of horror movies- which they regretted- they all fell asleep at 1:30AM. Since they were tired out of all the matches they had no trouble sleeping. In fact, they all barely heard the morning announcement.
They all woke up to the announcement. They streched and looked around.
Looked around.
Looked.
And there they saw, laying on the floor.
"A student has been found!! Now, after s certain amount of time, which you may use however you like, the class trial will begin!"
There she was.
Hina.
The boys rushed with the girls and rushed right in, the door was open. "Hina..." Sakura said, sadness in her voice. Y/n couldn't blame her, they were basically best friends. Like Mondo and Taka. "I will kill whoever did this!" She raged. Y/n hugged her. "I'm not going to tell you to calm down, because I understand your situation. But we have to find out who did it." Y/n spoke. The martial artist seemed to calm down and thanked Y/n.
Monokuma showed up shortly after. "Hello hello! I see another one of you has done the unexpected! AH-HAHAHAHA! Anyways, it is so unfortunate, I can bearly stand this! Anyways, here's your handy-dandy MONOKUMA FILE!!" He spoke. He handed it out and left.
"I... will stand guard here. I'll make sure they don't try to sabotage the scene." Sakura said. Everyone nodded in agreement. And so the investigation commenced. Everyone went through a different investigation process. Y/n looked over the file first. It read:
Y/n was concerned, 'A splinter in her hand?' She went to check, 'Yup. A splinter in her right hand. Blow on the back of her head?' She checked, 'Yup. There's some blood on the back of her head. The Monokuma file is correct. But 1AM? Who would be up at that time?'

'Why is she here though? If I remember correctly, she was laying with the rest of us. Yet now she's right outside the bathroom... what was she doing? And why didn't she enter the bathroom and lock the doors if she was being attacked?'
"Hm? What's this?" Y/n mumbled, crouching down besides Hina. "Hm... they look like splinters..." She told herself. There was around 10-13 little splinters scattered to her side. "Hmm... what could this mean?"
Y/n noticed something in the corner of the bathroom. A baseball bat. 'A bat..? What's this doing here, no one brought this... and it has... scratch marks? What?' Y/n thought.
Y/n remembered something, 'Oh! The guys just ran in the room. Meaning the door was open... maybe there's something there that could give me a clue!' She ran to the door and checked the doorknob, 'Ah ha! I thought so!' There were 2 bobby pins stuck in the door knob, meaning it was lock picked. "Someone that lock picked the door... could it be?"
Makoto walked up to Y/n. "Hey Y/n, sorry to bother you during your investigation, but..." He begn, Y/n signaled him to ask, "You said you saw the outline of the person who tried to attack you, right?" He asked. Y/n nodded. "Did you see the specific outline of it?" Makoto finished. Y/n sighed, "No, I only saw a blob of a shadow-like figure. That's all." Makoto nodded in understanding, "I understand, if you remember something then tell me!" He turned around to leave. "Wait!" Y/n said. Makoto turned around. "I had my door locked, so they must've found an alternate way to enter my room, since Monokuma only has 1 key to each room." Y/n said. Makoto nodded, "Got it! I'll keep that in mind!"

The h/c girl made her way to the Storage Room, in hopes of finding something. Instead, her attention ws drawn to a nearby box. Curious, she looked in it, only to find all kinds of locks inside. "Some of my precious locks have gone missing, I knew I should've hid them!!" Y/n turned around faster than speed, shook, only to find the annoying bear standing there. She sighed, "What do you want?" "Hm? What I want? Nothing, really. But, have you seen any of my locks?" The bear replied. "Why do you have- why do you want- no. I haven't seen any." Y/n replied. Monokuma left. "Well that was a waste of time." The Ultimate Secret made her way to find Sayaka. She found her heading inside her dorm. "Ah! Sayaka!" Y/n called out. She turned around, "Hm? Y/n? What is it? Did you find anything?" "I wanted to check something in your room, if it's possible." Y/n said. Sayaka nodded. They both entered her dorm and Y/n headed to the closet. There was a small drawer underneath it, she checked it. "1 2 3 4 5..." She counted, "Sayaka, are you missing any bobby pins by any chance?" "Hm? Well, now that I think about it... yeah... they seemed to have disappeared, as if someone took them..." The Idol explained. Y/n then looked in a bedside drawer nearby. "Hm? Why do you have two locks here?" She asked. "Oh! I wanted to have Monokuma change between locks for my dorm each night, that way the person that broke into your room wont be able to break into mine... I hope. I also had him give me the keys to each so I could actually go in, haha." Sayaka explained. "Hm... I see. Well, thanks for letting me look!" Y/n said. She then waved her goodbye and went her own way.
Y/n went back to her dorm, maybe she'd find something else. "Hey, Sakura, do you know at what time we fell asleep yesterday?" Y/n asked. "I believe it was 11:15, why? Has something come up?" Sakura asked. "Well, no, I thought maybe I could figure something out..." Y/n replied.
Y/n exited her room and found Mondo walking down the hall. "Hey, Mondo!" Y/n called. "Hm? What's up?" Mondo asked. "I was wondering if you could answer some questions..." Y/n said. "Yeah, sure." Mondo stated Y/n nodded. "So, at what time did you guys sleep yesterday?" She asked. "Hm... I'd say 2:50 in the morning." The biker answered. "And did anyone leave the room?" Y/n asked. "Hm... I think Leon left at one point, he said he needed to do something at his dorm." He answered. "At aroud what time was that?" She asked. "Hm.. not too sure. I looked at the clock a while after he left and it was 1:03." Mondo answered, scratching the back of his neck. "When did he come back?" Y/n asked. "Around 1:25." "Alright, thanks!" Y/n said. She then went to look for Leon. 'A bat and Leon? In the same case? It can't just be coincidence.' Y/n thought as she looked for the baseball star. She found him shortly after.
"What were you doing when you left Mondo's room?"

Among other things, a story about growth, grit, and being better than the person you were yesterday. Here's my rambling on why I'm writing Journey West 5000. Journey West 5000 is my crazy ambitious writing project to adapt a classic epic called "Journey to the West" for a global, modern audience. It's a sci-fi story disguised as fantasy, and has some road trip + monster of the week elements (as does the original Journey to the West). No system, definitely no harem, gradual power progression. Hmm, what else can I put here so potential readers know what to expect? My writing style for now is mostly "show don't tell", because I believe that readers don't need to have everything pointed out to them, and that they should be allowed to make up their own minds about characters based on the actions of those characters. I'm also trying to be less long-winded (a weakness pointed out by some friends) in order to write according to something Neil Gaiman said, which is to write as though I'm the one who has to pay for every word, not the reader. This will bring down my chapter word counts, and might drive away potential readers, but I believe there's value in learning to compress and be concise. All chapters posted here will have been edited. Constructive criticism, comments, and feedback would be very much welcome and appreciated. Please, please help point out any typos or grammatical mistakes, I'm striving to minimize those as much as possible. Above all, I hope you enjoy my story.

This is a fanfiction, It's been ages since I've been on this site and have only recently starting to choose to write again. Given unexpected freedom, Senna decides to live her life to the fullest and enjoy everything this new world of swords and magic has to offer her.
