Devilin opens the back of his car and pulls out a shirt out of the bag he has inside as he pulls off the torn shirt he was wearing.

"What were you thinking being all alone with him?" Devilin asks Ariel as he finishes buttoning his shirt

"We were just talking," she informs him softly

"Let me repeat it again, what were you thinking being all alone with him?" he asks her again slamming the door hard

"We were just talking okay, it's not like I don't know him. He saved us from being kidnapped once and he is good friends with Advin" she defends herself as well as Eric

"Oh right and from when did you start to hang out or even talk with Advin's friends?" he asks her in anger

"Why are you so angry with me? You did not have to attack him and create such a scene in there and now because of you Jane's mate is injured and unconscious" she fires back at him in anger as well

Devilin grits his teeth trying to control his temper and silently stares her way before he opens the door for her to get in so they can reach Crystal's house and get done with the night already.

Ariel silently gets inside the car not wanting to rile him up even more as he silently drives them to Crystal's house.

She mentally sighs remembering the incident that occurred at the party tonight.

Eric and she were having a very relaxing time, where Eric was sharing some of his hilarious adventures with her.

Even if she tried she could not stop the bubble of laughter that left her mouth, she never in her entire life had laughed so much that her sides hurt.

She was begging him to stop as tears were rolling down from her eyes but he being the mischievous one started tickling her and she could not help when she fell off the bench and down on the ground with him a top of her.

All the laughter had soon left them and they were in their own world when out of nowhere, Devilin came and started to throw punches at Eric, the good thing was he knew how to dodge those punches.

Devilin hearing her pleads had come seeking her and when he saw Eric lying on top of her with tears stricken face, he thought the worst and was in a rage.

As she was begging, Devilin to leave Eric, Chris who was also somewhere in the garden hearing the commotion had joined them. One thing led to another and before they knew it, Chris had jumped to defend his childhood friend Eric.

That broke the fight between Chris and Devilin, causing both of them to go flying towards the party hall though the window.

Jane lies on the side of the bed where her mate was sleeping, brushing his hair lightly she tries to calm her racing heart which was so worried about him.

She never thought this was the way she would meet her mate. Her careless brother was so stupid at times, how could he beat up his own sister's mate?

If she was late even a second then Devilin would have burned her mate alive.

In search of him, she had ended up in the garden when he was enjoying the moonlight; she felt such a relief seeing him standing in front of her in real life. However, before she could say a word, a commotion from the nearby garden had attracted his attention and before she could say anything, he disappeared.

Then, she had run to catch up with him only to find her mate and brother in a brawl. At first she had being so proud when he was beating the shit out of her brother letting her know he was capable of protecting her but when her brother started to harm him she couldn't just stand still and watch and good thing she interfered.

"Wake up already" she begs to him as she puts her head on his chest hearing the rhythm of his heartbeat calming her.

"How is he faring?" Adrian asks to Crystal as they all settle down on the library to talk about the incident that had occurred

"He is just taking a rest and it seems Jane isn't ready to leave his side," Crystal informs them as she smiles towards Jean who nods in understanding.

"I guess this just ruined your plans huh?" Connor comments as he stares at Dante

"What are you on about now?" Dante asks with a sigh

"The plan of exposing my son's power or better yet using him as your guinea pig?" Connor points out with a growl

"Whoa, whoa, whoa okay wait a damn bloody second, I have no such plans regarding your son...

Come on man, he is like my son as well; I have seen that boy grow up in front of my eyes. I know I may come off as an evil person sometimes but I am not" he tries to defend himself of the accusation Connor threw his way.

Everyone in the room silently stares at him even his mate who does not believe a word that comes out of his mouth.

"Oh come on now, baby you too? Trust me I do not intend to hurt anyone of our children...

Okay, fine may be I did have a plan to check the limits of Chris's telepathic powers but that's it not some mumbo jumbo as Connor accuses me of" he gives in throwing his hands up in the air.

"Seriously, Dante shame on you" Rom shakes his head in disappointment towards his friend

"Oh come on, it's not like I was planning something evil. As a leader of the council I have to check on these things okay?" Dante shouts once again in his defense

"As a leader of the council, really, try being a friend or father first and think how we feel when someone tries to use our children?" Connor shouts as well in anger

"Well, sorry to burst all of your bubbles but I cannot be a friend or a father and think like that...

No matter what, I am a leader of the council and I have to think of all those others who have children, mates out there and because of a few changes in our lifes impacts each and everyone of them...

You think it is easy for me because it is not, I have to think from every angle, all the consequences and what if and not, our kids are growing up and along with it their powers too, we do not know their limits, their capabilities or anything on the matter...

Imagine, if Enzo's blood could kill one of us, just like that, which created such destruction what are the possibilities that each of our kids aren't holding the same power?

It is a good thing that once they mate that side of their powers disappears permanently, but the threat remains with the newborn....

What happened tonight is just a glimpse of what Chris can do; he was capable of shutting us out even Connor, for fuck's sake we are the most powerful beings of our kind and we could not stop just a kid...

It was Connor's quick thinking, that he created an illusion to stop others from seeing what was happening but if Chris had let go of that power he had then today we wouldn't have Red alive or any of those who had a weak mind with us" Dante reveals tensed at the situation

Adrian automatically pulls Scar into his arms and kisses her temple scared about the fact of how easily he could have lost her tonight.

"Ho...You mean those monkeys out of that window would have been the reason of my death?" Scar gasps looking wide-eyed towards Adrian

"I am never going anywhere nearing a dancing monkey" she finalizes nodding her head with determination

"Oh Red, you never cease to amaze me" Dante grins as he walks up to her and kisses her forehead lovingly grateful no harm came to her

"What did I do now?" Scar asks him in confusion

"You are safe and alive, that is a reason enough" he chuckles before walking towards his own mate

"Ho" she hums in return

"So what now then" Connor asks Dante as he now sees the reason why Dante was always curious about his son

"Now, we have to make sure what happened tonight doesn't occur again. Crystal, Connor you two have created a brilliant son but the mixture of your power, legacy along with your heritage is killing that boy...

He seems to pretend he can control or keep his powers in check but he cannot" Dante informs them honestly

"If Eric was even a second late then my son wouldn't be with us, Chris lost his sense, he went for a kill...

I have full confidence in my son that he can look after himself, but tonight gave me a scare for my life, making me see that no matter how much training I give him there will always be something bigger and better out there to break him down...

Chris took over Devilin's mind just for that few seconds and that was enough to kill my son," everyone gasps at the new information he passes on to them

"Dev..." Jean calls out to her son from where she was sitting on

"I am good mom, don't worry" Devilin smiles back at her in assurance holding her hand and giving it a squeeze

"Back to you Eric, how did you find the loophole?" Dante asks him next

"Chris, he is very sensitive in and out, he won't let anyone enter his mind and let them see what he sees until and unless he fully trusts you...

It is a good thing we both had created a bond of friendship in the past years while I came to play around with him, letting me know him...

I just used that trust and bond with him to easily pass through the barrier he created," he explains calmly to everyone.

"But why couldn't Connor get past it then?" Crystal asks the question this time

"Because, the reason he created that barrier was to cut everyone's thoughts and emotions out which would cause a rift in his own mind...

When Uncle Connor tried to get inside, his emotions were all over the place, extremely stressed out about the whole situation that is why Chris was blocking him, but I well, I was just waiting for the right moment to interfere...

I took my time to check my emotions and not to project him what I felt; I went inside his barrier blank-minded" Eric clears out easily

"So, you mean if this happens we have to try and get to him blank-minded?" Devilin asks outrageously

"Well, you can also try to approach him with a cool mind, not with loud thoughts and emotions that can tick him off" Eric replies with a nonchalant shrug

"Right" Devilin scoffs sarcastically

"Dev, he is trying to help, you don't have to be so rude" Ariel chides him making everyone in the room look at the trio in amusement

"Okay, I think we got what he is trying to tell us, but that still doesn't explain what ticked him off in the first place" Adrian asks staring at his daughter who blushes hard making him raise his brow

"It's my..."

"No, it's my..."

Eric and Ariel start at the same time but Devilin beats them taking the blame

"I didn't like his closeness with Jane," Devilin states uncaringly taking the blame

"Make sure it won't repeat" Dante warns his son as everyone has a clear idea about what made all of them tick and not just Chris.
