"Any clues?" Eric pokes his head in from the door of Raine's room.

"How come Enzo is not here bursting my doors down to find out where his mate is?" Raine asks as she shoves Eric away from her laptop.

"Dad's been busy"

"Tell me something new"

"I have been appointed to work under you so I can take over your position," Eric sheepishly states rubbing the back of his neck and Raine stops typing as she stiffens.

"What?" she slowly asks turning her head his way.

"Umm...well, it seems Devilin and Dante had a little talk which mostly contained their fists and legs...

Moreover, in between some shouts Devilin was very angry with his father for treating you badly and then your father got angry with him...

Because they fought in the middle of the HP ground, where everyone can see and hear everything, including me as well...

Then in between a few punches, Dante appointed me as the new head in charge for the tech department and I am to work under you and to get my head around things so he can fire you personally which was his long time dream"

Eric finishes as he shuffles on his feet scared for his life as Raine glares at him.

"Well, I have an official appointment letter"

"This is the worst week of my entire life; anyone would have been fine but you"

"What's so wrong with me?" Eric frowns, a bit offended.

"Because If I had a dog he would be smarter than you"

"To be honest if you were an anime, your manga version would never be better than me"

"Oh my keyboard he does not even have any sense of humor, I am sure the only reason Dante has appointed you is all because of your brains"

"Ouch...I see you are unhappy with the change" Eric cringes a bit.

"Unhappy is too small of a word to express what I am feeling right now, but don't worry I will be sure to scream out loud and clear about these changes people seem to make around me...

And you, keep your germs filled hands away from my computers" she shouts before shutting her laptop and storming away from her room while Eric bites on his lip scared of her.

"Three years I have given three years of my life to this institute, three precious years that I could have invested in seeing the things I wished for and this is what I get?" Raine shouts as she walks inside of the HP in a rage never known.

"Hello Raine, how have you been?" Ryan's voice stops her rants before she greets Ryan, Rom, Ethan, Enzo and Connor.

Her eyes zoom in on Dante who has yet to realize her existence.

"You, how could you give the appointment letter to Eric while I was not given that priority, you just ordered me to do it and he gets the privilege to have an appointment letter without consulting me of any of this" she asks as anger fills her seeing the man just boringly turn the page of his file.

"If you have had any problems with the way things were you should have come to speak directly to me not go complain your mate as some spoiled little girl and ask him to fight his own father" Dante slams the desk with both his hands as he was angry to, at her.

"We will leave to..."

"No, you will stay right here, I am not the only council, if we decided to give her the position then we will as well stand for what we decided for her" Dante growls in anger as he looks around at his fellow friends.

"We can all..."

"No Rom, there is nothing to talk on the matter, if she thinks this whole work is too much for her then we should let someone else who can handle all the work load" Dante interrupts his friend who sighs before quietly sitting on his chair as this was not about council decision even if his friend says otherwise.

"So, now that you know about the change I will ask you to help Eric see things through within this week so you can go on your vacations or all around the world tour and while you are at it, you can as well get the fuck out of my face"

"You cannot just order me around as if I am a puppet. I have given..."

"That's where you are wrong Raine, you see you are my puppet seeing how I brought you in here, gave you a home, a roof but you ungrateful idiot..." Dante stops as he turns his face away from her.

"I just did, I was the one who brought you here and slaved you so I let you free and you are a free bird"

As soon as Dante says those words, everyone silently watches for her reaction as she just stares at his back without saying anything.

Dante even if he feels her gaze on him, he does not turn around to face her, as he was too hurt from the accusations his son threw his way. He knows what he was doing with her and even if things sometimes went out of hand, he never thought Raine would use his own son against him to fight her fight.

Mate or not, Devilin did not have any right to shout at Dante about what he did with Raine as it was between Raine and him. If she had any problems with him then she should be the one to speak not Devilin.

"So, this is it I see" Raine whispers as she bows her head in defeat.

"It's so easy is it not for all of you to just order me around, to just shut me out of your lives as if I meant nothing to anyone of you...

I do have feelings that get hurt and sometimes I have moments of weakness and doubt on things where those hurtful feelings takes over me and I do not have any control of the things I say in those times...

Each of us have that weak moment where we do not have any control on the things we say at the heat of the moment and no matter how much guilt we feel we cannot take it back...

However, that does not mean you will forget all the other good times between us and judge me on that one moment of my life where I had no control on myself...

I never asked him to go fight with you for what happened and I never meant to hurt your feelings...

It is true at times; it was hard for me as well, for not being able to walk out of these walls freely like other kids...

I was sad when I was all alone on my vacations and it was difficult for me to keep smiling when I did not want to but there was no one I can turn to when I had things to share"

In your eyes, you see yourself walking alone in the HP for holidays, but have you even stopped to think why there were always some men hanging around even if they did not have to...

Why Enzo was pulling all nights even if he had a family to go home to, why Ryan would barge in your room sometimes to, just say his or why Rom would bring you leftovers...

Why Ethan would always be around the corner watching your steps or why, whenever your exam results would be out I would visit you?" Dante asks as he turns to face her.

"We berate, scold and tease you sometimes because in our eyes you are our daughter and we have that much right that we can correct your wrongs, we can point out to you the directions if you ever have doubts...

Even if you do not like it, we are behind you, pushing you to the right way," Ryan states as he pulls her in his arms while she let go of silent tears.

"Yeah, sorry for giving you the men clothes because ooh girl trust me it would have been too hard of a work to keep all of the men working in here under control...

"It's okay we understand seeing how you need four eyes" Rom teases still grinning.

"I can be pretty stupid sometimes" she grins back feeling light hearing them out.

"Pretty, stupid...oh come on, you are stupid all right but a ugly one, not pretty" Dante scolds her before he hugs her tightly to him.

"I am sorry, did you get too hurt?" she asks seeing a few bruises on his jaw line.

"He is my son, so of course he can hit some mean punches but I am his father you should go see him" Dante grins proudly.

"We broke up" she sighs sadly, as she remembers the night he left.

Everyone around her looks at each other before they burst out in laughter.

"What?" she asks not understanding the joke.

"Just go see him Raine; you should have seen how full of rage he was when he walked in here for someone who broke things with you" Enzo chuckles.

"Yep, good thing we were not his target" Ryan adds as he sighs in relief.

"It took all of us to pull him away from Dante" Ethan comments as he points at Dante who grumbles.

"Yes, in my entire life, I have never seen Dante get knocked unconscious because of someone" Rom laughs remembering it.

"Shut up, bastards" Dante growls not happy as his friends make fun of him.

Even before opening the door, Devilin is aware who was behind the closed door, taking a deep breath he opens the door.

"What are you doing here?"

"What do you mean by what are you doing here? Is that the way to greet your one and only sister and mate?" Jane shouts at her wayward brother as she pushes him away from the door before pulling Raine along with her.

"Jane"

"Shut up bro, just because you are the elder child does not mean you can boss us around and anyway, I just wanted to see if it was true that you beat the shit out of dad," Jane continues talking not giving anyone of them room to speak.

"Anyways, what kind of brother are you? Your sister is happily mated living with her in-laws and not once did you come visit me and ask about my happily mated life...

But I am not the one to sit still, so instead I came to see you and what a sight you are" she sighs touching his sore face.

"Dad does have a mean hook," she mumbles before she pushes the ice bag away from his hand before asking him to take a seat.

"Mom sent some love and salve for you and said if she ever found you and dad fighting for reasons, she has yet to find out she will have both of your balls" she relays the message her mother sent as she puts the bottle of salve on the table.

"Thanks" Devilin smiles up as he holds his sister and pulls her in his arms.

"Now my duty of being caring sister is done, I will leave now" Jane announce and gets ready to leave

"Stay, for a while Jane"

"Can't do that because my ever-loving Chris is waiting for me in the car, bye now" she waves at them before picking up her bag and walking towards the door.

Raine slowly gets up from her seat as well as she follows Jane to the door silently, she had wished Jane would stay a bit so she could talk with Devilin and ask him if he was doing well but seems like this is all she will get.

"Oh and Devilin" Jane calls as she turns around from the door.

"Yes?" Devilin asks not knowing what his sister wanted now.

"This one is staying with you" Jane grins before she pushes Raine with a force and she goes stumbling down before crashing on Devilin's chest.

"Be good as this is both of yours first time oh and please at least mate the girl, even Devon got his mate pregnant, he is so ahead of you" Jane sighs rolling her eyes as she slams the door and leave the couple alone.

None of them knows how long they stayed in that position, with Raine in between his legs atop him on the couch, with her hands on his naked chest and his around her waist staring at each other's eyes.

"Umm...hi" Raine whispers as she finally has enough sense to get off him.

As if broken from a trance, Devilin tightens his hold around her as he senses her trying to move away from him.

"You look like shit" she comments touching the bruise on the side of his cheek as she traces her finger all around his face where she finds bruises.

"What are you doing here?" he repeats the same question.

"I just wanted to check on you"

"And you could not do that on your own?" he asks before he grabs her wandering hand as she presses on his bruise a bit hard.

"Dante asked Jane to drive me along while they were coming to see you," she answers honestly, before she finally gets away from him.

"Well your ride left you" he points out as he stands up to take the bottle of salve his sister left.

"I know my way back"

"Good" he nods his head before he walks away from the room.

Raine bites on her lip not knowing what she should do now, should she leave or stay. Seeing how he just walked away was enough signal to her that he did not want her in the house but she did not know if walking out was a good idea.

Her ride back home was right now in HP and HP was far away, from where Devilin's house was situated. She cannot ask for his help because first, he did not offer and second he was not well enough to give her a ride.

"What are you doing?" Devilin's voice startles making her jump.

"Nothing, I was just calculating the road to HP seeing how obviously I cannot ride you...sorry, that sounded so vulgar...

I mean you are not healthy enough to give me a ride...in your car...I...uh...yeah so I will just leave you to rest...

I hope you rest in peace" she cringes at her words as she closes her eyes and breathes to calm down.

Opening her eyes, she just smiles his way before slowly walking towards the door but she changes her mind and turns around to face him.

"You should not have fought with your father because of me"

"Who said it was because of you?" Devilin grumbles as he looks at the sidewall not facing her.

"Seeing my parents like that I was terribly scared and I did not want them to leave me as soon as we just met...

So, when Warren or Thomas I don't know who he was but when he fed things in my mind I just could not help myself from doubting the things that were on going in my life...

Everything was just too good to be true, the past few weeks with you were unbelievably perfect and at the back of my mind I had this fear that it's all a dream and one day when I wake up you will not be there...

Moreover, this is I, in my best and worst and you wanting a break up with me is so not you, so not the man I love, not the one who loves me" she speaks up the things she had in her mind.

"I cannot reach my back" Devilin speaks making her head jerk up.

"Huh?" Raine asks in confusion.

"I have been waiting for you to come inside to put the salve on my back, as you can see I am not healthy," Devilin grumbles as he walks towards her and holds her hand as he pulls her towards his bedroom.

"You should have said so," Raine grumbles as she sits on the bed and opens the bottle.

"I thought you had enough sense" he replies before cursing as she slaps on his naked back.

"What was that for?" he shouts as he tries to rub his back where she hit him.

"That was for being a grumpy meanie, you could have just asked me to join you, but no you had to make me think we were over" she shouts right back at him.

Devilin keeps silence as he glares at her before turning his back to her.

"Idiot promises to never make me cry but does exact opposite" Raine sniffs as she puts the salve on his back.

"You know what, put it on yourself," she snaps getting up from the bed as sudden anger takes over her.

Devilin holds her hand before pulling her at once on the bed before covering her body with his.

"Let go of me"

"I am so close to collapse but I cannot not when you are here, I do not have any energy to fight with you nor do I have any energy to make things up with you...

So please, put the salve my mother sent on and once I am energized we can sit and talk," he sighs as he buries his head in her neck.

"Okay" Raine agrees feeling bad as he was in a terrible state.
