《Daredevil: Born Again》Chapter 10: Fault

Matt woke up when the alarm started ringing. The blanket he used was on the floor and the pillows of the couch were all over the place. He really lived a messed up life. The smell of Jessica was still in his apartment especially since she's still there. After a few moments, Jessica woke up and walked towards the kitchen.
"You slept particularly well." Matt pointed out as Jessica passed by him.
"Fuck you, Murdock." Jessica scoffed, grabbing some scotch in his cupboard.
"You didn't mean that." Matt smirked, standing up.
"Here we go again, Captain Smirks-a-lot. You should really get that as your name. Daredevil sounds like an ass of a name."
"Just like Jewel?" Matt asked and Jessica looked up, "Sorry, I kind of know that stuff so-"
"Just don't mention that stuff. That's what gets me pissed off." Jessica sighed, sitting on the armchair across Matt.
"It's night. Scotch is still your preferred drink?" Matt asked.
"What do you eat, Murdock? Hamburgers? Pizza? Pasta? What the fuck do you eat."
"Anything that's edible."
"You got some jokes." Jessica rolled her eyes when Matt chuckled.
"Better than yours." Matt said.
"You want to turn this into a insult battle or what? We can do this." Jessica stood up, "Come on, say anything or ask anything you want and I'll punch you."
"Why did you kiss me." Matt bit his lips when he asked.
"Excuse me? When did this whole kissing shit happened because I don't remember it."
"You kissed me the last time I was in your apartment. Why?"
"Because Murdock, I'm drunk and I'm tired and I don't know what the fuck I'm supposed to be doing anymore."
"We won't talk about it again. How about that." Matt proposed.

"Sure. Yeah... sure." Jessica drunk the half of the scotch, "That sounds like a good idea."
Silence followed their conversation and both of them took glances at each other. They didn't know what they should say or do because the other would find it weird. Jessica just stood up and laid on the bed. Suddenly Matt's phone rang and he picked it up.
"Karen. What is it?" Matt asked, walking towards the exit door so Jessica couldn't hear him.
"Something's wrong. I feel like I could see movements at my apartment. I'm scared." Karen talked through the phone.
"Stay in your bathroom." Matt said while walking towards his Daredevil suit, "I'm coming."
"Wait what? As Matt Murdock or as Darede-" Karen asked but Matt stopped the call. He didn't have time to explain.
Matt ran through the rooftops of Hell's Kitchen on the way to Karen's apartment. The traffic was light and the sky was dark which meant no pictures will be taken. When he finally arrived at Karen's house, he entered through the window.
"I thought you won't be..." Karen pointed at him but he shook his head, "him."
"You said that you were in danger so I came here... there's people coming. They're not friendly."
"How not friendly are we talking about? Like the kind that would be the shit out of you?"
"No. The kind that would beat the shit out of you." Matt chuckled and opened her door.
In the hallway, five men were running towards Karen's door until Matt showed up. Matt gently closed Karen's door and cracked his knuckles.
"Some of you still has a chance to leave. Just do it quietly." Matt smiled and he could read their heartbeats. All of them were terrified. "You're scared."

"But not afraid." The man said, as the five of them ran at him.
"Doesn't make sense but alright."
Matt fought the first two with his batons while the other three were trying to hit him. He jumped on them and dodged their kicks and punches. One of them tried to kick Matt in the side but he grabbed it and threw the man through the wall. The other four started beating the hell out of him. They were coming in from all corners and Matt was being beat down.
Matt eventually found a weak spot and kicked one of them down the stairs. He went to work on one guy, kicking the other two to stop them from attacking him. The other two were smart, running towards Karen's door. Matt threw his baton, which was the grappling hook, and it wrapped around the man's neck. He pulled him down the floor and received some head damage. The other actually reached the door and opened it. Karen shot the man in the lower chest and Matt came in with a kick.
The man who fell down the stairs got back up and three men were standing on front of Matt. One of them drew a pistol and the other two had batons. Matt rushed them, kicking one and punching the other out of the way. The person with the gun shot but Matt covered it with his hand. He aimed it at the other man and he got shot in the leg. Matt eventually knocked him down with a kick. Now one remained and he was having trouble standing up. Matt took advantage and uppercutted him in the jaw followed by a kick to the back of the head. Matt painted and walked over to Karen's room.
"They're gone. Your safe now." Matt said, entering Karen's room.
"Are you-" Karen then got shot through the window on the chest. Matt came running at her and grabbed her in his arms.
"Karen! You ok?"
"I'm-" Karen tried to talk but she couldn't breath probably.
All she could hear was Matt trying to wake her up. She touched her cloth in her lower chest and there was blood spilling out. A desperate Matt placed a towel on it to avoid further blood loss. The next thing she knew, she fainted.
"Help! Get some help!" Matt shouted, looking at Karen. "Im sorry. I'm sorry."
"It's ok." Karen faintly said.
"No it's not." Matt had tears coming out as he whispered, "I'm sorry. It's my fault."
"It's-"
"Karen!"

Sanguis
In a world inhabited by vampires, various factions are vying for dominance, whether through wars or grueling tournaments. In the midst of the conflict, two unsuspecting humans become caught in the battle. Note: My first story on here, I wanted to try writing a story with battles and leveling up, the kind of story where a character starts at the bottom and world their way up. I hope this story is a good chance to see what works and try out a few different ideas I’ve had.

Displacement
or, Deux Navires Passant dans la Nuit If you wake up in a new world, with only your memories of home to guide you, you have to trust the first people you meet. The first people Leah meets seem to know her - but not her. Leah is thrust into a fighter's role that does not quite suit her, and those who 'rescued' her do their best to help her fit in. They hint at a world that Leah can only vaguely understand without serious research and exploration, but how to do that research, when everyone believes her to be a local of this place, and too many questions might draw unwanted attention? And what about home? The more Leah learns about this world, the less she believes that she woke up on the right side of the bed - or more accurately, on the right side of the conflict. With magic being strictly regulated in her current "home," maybe it's time to uproot and look for a new set of allies... -- Displacement is a queer / lgbt bodyswap isekai: Leah Armande falls out of a Quebecois city into an unfamiliar fantasy world, and Leah Talesh falls out of her adventuring party's homeland and into an unfamiliar industrial world. The story follows both women as they navigate their new surroundings, trying at times to find a way home, at times just to pass for a local, and at times to actually make a life for themselves in their new world. Expect in-depth politics and worldbuilding, sapphic moments, foibles, and far too much time spent either in libraries or convalescing (or sometimes both).

Healing Dungeon
// DUNGEON Mechanics will start to appear around chapter 100+/Arc 3 of the story! \ Avan, a 25-year-old young man, is torn from his rather boring life. He awakens in Aorus, a world full of magic, monsters and dungeons. By a stroke of luck and an ominous skill called "Potential", he awakens a new class never seen before called Dungeonheart (Human). Dungeons, although sentient, are never sapient nor mobile. Join Avan as he pursues his passion for healing and martial arts, and building his very own dungeon at the same time. He’s the hybrid of a moving dungeon and a healer. "Healing Dungeon" will include City building, strategy, very little romance, exploration of the world of Aorus, and a touch of power levelling. (There are elements from other fantasy novels, as well as anime, games, and more). What will all be possible with a dungeon that can move, but still brings some of the familiar dungeon mechanics along for its journey? -- Please note that the beginning and thus the first chapters were really my first writing works in english, and can only be rewritten at a later time (lack of time in favor for new chapters) --(The writing style and also the story improves VERY much from the 12th chapter at the latest! Proofreading is available, but I depend on any well-intentioned advice from you guys). If you have any questions, suggestions, constructive criticism, or just because you feel like it, feel free to leave me a comment below the respective chapters! For every positive and serious review or rating, I am infinitely grateful! ;) I am a creature of few words and the beginning is therefore a little faster than I would have liked it now in retrospect. Please do not expect huge paraphrases and descriptions of the environments, but only what is really necessary to get into the scene. Cheers and hopefully see you in the comment section.
