《My Brothers' Enemy》32. Scratches

I shrieked first thing when my eyes adjusted to the light. There was nothing really, just a pale white ceiling. I groaned when I tried moving my hand because if anything: it wasn't cooperating.
Where was I?
"Oh dear, SHE IS AWAKE!" A voice that sounded so much like Nora called out, and in a matter of second the sound of chairs moving reached my ears.
"Holy cow, Emma. Baby, you alright?!" That was Della.
I blinked my eyes at all their panicked faces in front of me. Why were they all scared?
Uh-oh...
I think my face expression said it all since their eyes all widened in the same time in realization.
Tears pooled in my eyes, remembering every single detail that I, so bad, wanted to get away from. My mind did the trick of picturing it all with the other incident.
"Hey, hey. It's fine now, we promise. See? We are all here. Shhh..." Lucas tried soothing me; however, it was a little bit too late because my mind had already consumed me.
I started sobbing loudly, making a frantic looking Logan come to my side, holding me to his embrace, ever so carefully. I leaned into him as my sobs came out muffled.
It was as if he was reassuring himself more than me, and that somehow made me cry more.
Did i scare them that much?
Sobering up, i sniffled back my tears, trying to sit upright on the bed. Logan helped me to it, and then sat back down next to me.
I noticed my broken arm in cast.
"Don't worry, some scratches here and there. Major? Broken arm. Nothing you can't deal with." Carter smiled softly.
I smiled back, but it was long gone when i heard Abby's sobs coming to life. All eyes turned to her as she was in Levi's embrace. She rushed to me, taking me by surprise by hugging me so hard.
I grinned as she cried.
It sounded better in my head.
"It's okay, Abbs. Look... I am absolutely fine. Plus..." i trailed off as she looked at me with teary eyes, "you get to help me in my exams since i won't be able to write." She smiled.
"You are right handed." She pinched my cheek, a small tear falling down her astonishing eye.
"We can always lie." She grinned and then kissed my forehead.
Lucas then came to my side, my baby bear looking torn out. His eyes were red shining with tears that made my heart tug badly.
He took me in his embrace, "you really fine? Not hurt anywhere else? Just make sure, okay? I will call the doctor right now, so don't wor—" he ranted off.
"Chill, Lu. I am fine, i promise." He nodded his head with uncertainty.
"I am happy you are fine, Emma." Levi smiled, encouragingly, and i shot him a sweet, genuine smile back.
"The doctor is on his way." Veronica entered through the door, her eyes settled on me.
She then came kissed my cheek, and i heard her sigh calmly.

Noah...
My mind was hazy, but all it could do was think about Noah.
"Shit..." Levi entered the room, his eyes wondering around the room.
He rushed to Carter who was by now alert by Levi's behavior.

They whispered some stuff in each other' ears, and together they were out of the room in a moment.
"I don't want to pressure you now, baby, but the police will have to come some time to know what happened. The car rushed down the road, so we need to know who that was." Logan spoke carefully.
"I swear to God once i get my hands on that fucker, i wil—" Lucas stated angrily, but was cut off by one glare from Della.
He nodded understandingly as they hugged slowly, making me laugh at them.
"It's fine, okay." I said, and Nora rubbed my back sweetly.
Carter entered alone without Levi.
"Hey, Logan, Lucas. Why don't we take care of the paper work, plus the doctor needs to talk to us." He sounded fishy.
They both sighed, giving me one last glance before scurrying out of the room. I eyed Carter weirdly as he then started motioning everyone else outside the room.
They did non the less, leaving me all alone for what? A minute before the door was pushed open.
And there he was: the guy that took over my mind.
His hair was messy like it has been ran over by a train. His red shot eyes were wide open taking in my state, and his slightly tear smeared face didn't go un-noticed by me.
My heart twisted and did all sort of weird stuff it usually does when he is around. But this time, the sadness i felt was overwhelming.
Our eyes stayed on each other for what seemed like an eternity. And then finally, he started taking steps towards me. He crouched down beside me, taking my hand in his.
His eyes lingered my injuries on my forehead, then slowly trailed down my broken arm.
"Are you pained?" His voice broke.
I shook my head, trying to calm him down because even if it's not showing, i can tell how much effort he was putting in staying in composure.
"Do you know who did that?" He questioned, his silver eyes turning a darker shade.
I shook my head once again.
"I want to hear your voice... please." Tears gathered in my eyes at his words, and especially the fact that i was the reason why he was so upset, scared, and mad.
"I am fine." I managed without breaking a tear.
He sighed out loud, taking me in his arms.
A lone tear found its way out as i relaxed into his embrace.
How much i missed that couldn't fit into words. I miss him. All of him. With no exception.
He nuzzled his face into my hair, taking a large breath in, and i did the same.
His smell was something out of this world. It can soothe me even after being run over by a car. He rubbed his hands up and down my back, crushing my form more into him, but i didn't care. If anything, i wanted to hug him harder.
He kissed the top of my head before we slowly broke away. He noticed the tears in my eyes as his eyes softened at the sight of me, and the same for me.
For a fact, our longing can be felt in the air, but i had to remind myself that what I am doing is for him. Just to keep him safe because my love, just like that, is more than enough to let him go for his own good.

The way his eyes gazed at me hypnotized me in ways no one can explain. His nose flared in anger once again, making me curse my luck since I was the reason of his anger.
He stood up, and i noticed the way his eyes turned again to something that made me complain in agony. I tried so hard not to get out of bed and force a kiss upon him. A kiss that would tell him how much I've missed him.
"I am happy you are fine." He said, his eyes reflecting an emotionless mirror.
I swallowed hard, "you don't have to be this way, Noah."
He looked at me with clenched jaws; however, not uttering a word.
"W-we can be f-friends?" I choked on my own question.
How dare I ask a question like that?! Even if he agreed, i could never do it before my heart shatters.
"Friends?" His voice boomed through the room, making me instantly regret ever asking.
I stayed silent, but my eyes said a million words.
"You want to be friends, Emma?" He laughed mockingly, and as much as i missed that sound, it wasn't anything like before, "fine, let's be friends. Friends are honest with each other, right? Then why did you break up with me?!"
I looked away, not able to meet his eyes anymore.
I bit my lip, forcing the too many words inside my mouth, to where they belong.
"Is it this hard to be honest with me?" I didn't like the way his voice broke at the end. It made him sound helpless, and he was anything but that.
I faced him again, tears trying so hard to get out.
You can't, Emma. Go back to your senses, nothing is worth his safety.
"N-Noah, g-go" i hate myself for making him feel exactly what i was feeling.
Terrible, in fact.
He blinked his eyes, and then laughed knowingly, and my insides churned.
"Yeah, right." He said. His eyes dead.
He looked at me one last time before exiting the room and slamming the door after.
I broke there and then.
I couldn't hold it in me anymore. I sobbed, getting out of the bed in urgency. My body hurt, but at this point I didn't care anymore. I snatched all the wires connecting my body to several machines as i took my first step.
I fell down.
"NOAH!" I cried out loud, both in the pain of my broke arm that i fell on, and the pain in my heart that has been accompanying me for a while now.
The door barged open, but it was no other than Carter and Levi.
Their eyes were wide as they took in my state, and quickly i was carried in Carter's arm and onto the bed.
They both crouched down beside me, sadness filling their eyes to its brim.
My sobs calmed down after a while of total silence as they stayed patiently waiting for me to finish all the bottled up feelings inside me.
"T-tell him I am sorry, Levi." I managed to say before giving them my back.
I closed my eyes and let all senses fade away slowly as i lost myself in deep slumber.

"Please, princess. This is the last bite, okay?" Dad stressed for the 100th times today.
The hospital sent me home after running some tests and making sure I was just fine. Our parents came back like a tornado, bombarding us with questions once arriving.
We were now in my room, mum and dad feeding me some fresh vegetables and chicken while Abby's parents were making dinner downstairs.
I sighed, taking the last bite from dad's hand, smiling at him faintly.
I wanted to throw up so bad from all the food they stuffed into me, but i can't blame them, though.
"That's enough, I think she might explode any moment now." Abby chuckled, convincing mum and dad to drop it.
"What do you know, young lady?" Mum scolded.
Abby laughed in return, "i know how to make eggs, clean my room, fall like a pro, and most importantly do makeup on point if you get what i mean, aunty."
Mum sucked at makeup, its a truth everyone knew.
"Yeah, yeah. At least i know how to cook not like others." Mum smirked, firing back at Abby.
"It's a tie." Logan announced, and i laughed at his remark.
"No, you have to take sides." Mum argued, giving him a glare.
"Of course if I am forced, i am gonna choose you, sweetheart." Logan teased her, winking.
Mum looked at him with disgust, jokingly of course and returned back to me, stuffing my mouth with yet another piece of chicken.
"Mum, i am forming enough bad words in my head right now, and trust me you don't want to hear them." I warned her, chewing on the piece of chicken in my mouth.
She raised her hands in surrender, then her and dad bent down to kiss me on my forehead to go downstairs to the kitchen to help Abby's parents.
Lucas, Logan, Carter, Abby, Nora, Della, and Veronica were in the room with me. Levi left after what happened in the hospital to go check on Noah.
"When do you want me to call the police officer, Emma? They talked to me today and told me whenever she is ready." Lucas talked, breaking the silence.
"Tomorrow maybe?" I answered, dreading the topic.
I don't really know who that was because it all happened too fast, but it's of course something out of the ordinary. Who hit someone then travel down the road like nothing happened?
"Whatever you want, little sis." Logan smiled, reassuringly.
"Let's go downstairs, so we can leave her to rest for a while, okay?" Carter suggested, looking at me for confirmation.
I nodded my head tiredly, and they all slowly walked out of the room.
Carter was the last to leave, turning off the light before he closed the door.
I sighed, resting my head on the fluffed up pillow behind me.
My phone dinged with a notification.
Groaning, i brought my phone out, faced with an un-known number.
'Emma, we need to talk.'
My eyebrows frowned: who's that?
'Who?' I pressed send.
'Noah's grandmother'
