《Not Never (Complete)》Chapter 25 - Part 2

Ashley got Jim's telephone number from Jasper and he stood beside her while she called him.
He was determined she wasn't going to do anything on her own even though she had assured him she didn't believe for a second Jim would do anything to her.
She had seen Maddox's hands, she could only imagine what Jim's face looked like.
She was surprised when Jim answered.
"Hi Jim. This is Ashley." She began to pace while Jasper watched her.
"What do you want?" he asked gruffly.
"I need to see you."
"I don't think that's a good idea," he replied but for her plan to work she had to make him meet up with her.
"I know you have a lot of stuff going on but this is important. I have to see you." She kept her voice light and flirty, possibly giving him a slightly different impressed of what the meeting would be about.
"I can't really leave the house right now."
"Well um I can come over if that's okay with you." She held her breath as she waited for his response.
Jasper was frowning. It was clear he liked this change to the plan less.
"Fine." He finally said and she let out of the breath she had been holding.
Her plan was working. She felt relieved. In her mind it would only work if she was able to meet with face to face.
He gave her his address and she wrote it down. "I'll be there in thirty minutes."
"See you then." He ended the call and Jasper was still frowning at her.
"Are you crazy? I thought we agreed for you to meet in a public place to make sure he doesn't try anything. How am I supposed to keep an eye on you if you're going to his house to see him?"
"I have to do this Jasper. The point is he has agreed to meet me."
"No. This doesn't feel right."
She turned to face him. "I appreciate your help but right now I'm prepared to do this without you. So either we do things my way and I let you tag along or I do this without you. You choose?"
There was too much at stake for her to cancel the meeting because it wasn't going exactly according to the plan Jasper had originally agreed to.

His frown deepened. "I want to go on record that I'm not happy about this."
"Noted." She didn't bat an eye lid.
"Fine but I'm driving."
"Fine."
She followed him out to his car and he opened the door to the passenger side of his car. Unlike Maddox his car was spotless. He got in and started the car.
"What's the address?" he asked.
According to the directions it would take only fifteen minutes to reach their destination. It wasn't nearly enough time for her to feel confident in exactly how she was going to approach the situation. There was still a chance that no matter what she said it wouldn't matter and that was difficult to deal with.
But at least she had tried everything she could think of, and that meant something, even if she wasn't able to stop what was happening.
"Are you nervous?" Jasper asked, as she realised she was tapping her foot.
She stopped it. "Maybe."
"You don't have to go through this. You say the word and I turn around."
She shook her head. "I have to do this."
Maddox's future hung in the balance, nothing would stop her now.
There was a massive gate that opening when they arrived. The house wasn't a house, it was a mansion. It figured. The guy's family had so much money he believed rules only applied to others and not him. He was about to learn a lesson.
Her hands shook as Jasper drove down the driveway and parked in front of the house.
He made a move to get out of the car but she put her hand to his arm. "No. I think this will work better if you stay here."
"If you think I'm letting you out of my sight you have another thing coming. You want me arrested as well?" The threat was in his eyes.
She couldn't blame him for not trusting Jim to try something again. And the last thing she wanted was the same thin to happen to Jasper.
"Fine," she relented as she got out of his car.
The front door opened and Jim exited. He had a black eye and a bruise on his jaw. There was a cut on his lip and his nose looked like it had been broken. It had a white strip across it.

Maddox had really got stuck into him.
Then to her surprise Logan followed him out and stood beside him.
She hadn't expected him to be here as well but it made no real difference. If he wanted his friend to witness what she was going to say, that was his choice.
She had always believed that Logan had been a good guy who had acted uncharacteristically when his heart had been broken. But now she had to see him fro his true colours. If he still supported a friend that would do what Jim did, he wasn't a good guy at all.
"I wasn't expecting you to bring him," Jim said, looking in the direction of where Jasper was standing just behind her.
"Same as I didn't expect Logan to be here."
If he could have someone with him then there was no harm in having Jasper with her. Fair was fair.
"So what do you want Ash?" he asked. "You here to beg me not to press charges?"
He was such an egotistical asshole, he had no idea she was about to turn the tables on him.
"I might just drop the charges if you can make it worth my while," he said.
She saw Jasper stiffen. And then she realised Jim was trying to get to Jasper but she wasn't going to let him succeed.
She studied Logan for a few moments feeling the need to say something to him. "I always believed that you were good, you know, like deep down inside. But I've realised that you can't have any good in you if you are willing to associate with the likes of him."
There she had said her piece even if it changed nothing. Jim shook his head at her and Logan refused to show that any of her words had affected him. He was indifferent. Well at least she could see him for who he truly was and not who she believed he was.
That's where Maddox was different. He did what he believed what was right, irrespective of the repercussions and while she might not have agreed with his actions she had to respect that.
"I want you to drop the charges against Maddox." Her voice was strong and confident, like she had no doubt he would follow her demand.
"And why would I do that?" he scoffed, over confidently.
"If you don't then I'll have to go to the cops and I'll have to tell them why Maddox felt he needed to get involved."
Jim still but he was still smirking, like he was enjoying this game of trying to out manuever each other.
"And what exactly are you going to tell the cops Ash?" His eyes drifted behind her to Jasper before he made a point to look at her again.
"I'll tell them what you did and I will have the pictures to prove it." She got her phone out of her pocket and opened the photos. She held them up to him and paged through the bruised pictures of her back.
"That doesn't prove anything. There is no way to prove I did any of that to you."
This wasn't going exactly the way she had anticipated. She had hoped that once she had shown him the physical evidence, he would drop the charges otherwise she would go to the police and report him. It was the last thing she wanted to do, she was only using it as leverage for Maddox.
"Maybe not but the cops will have to look into it. And that wont look good for you, will it?" she threatened.
"I doubt they will take it seriously especially when you're the girlfriend of the guy that assaulted me. They might be more inclined to believe that you would make up any lie to get me to drop the assault charges. There were no witnesses so it's just your word against mine."
She hated how confident he was that he would come out on top, and maybe he was right.
"You think you can just do whatever you want but one day, if not today, you will learn that you can't. And you will be held responsible. And I hope I get to see that."
With that she turned and strode to the car. Jasper gave Jim a glare before he got into the driver's side an started the car.
Her heart was hammering in her chest and her hands were shaking as they drove out of the property.
She had tried but she had a feeling that she had failed. Jim was not going to back down. She had underestimated him.
