When I get outside I lean against the wall and close my eyes.
Please, save them, Mom.
I look around for Nate and I don't see him anywhere.
Someone needs to look for that kid.
"Ace, have you seen Nate?"
He shakes his head. "Not since we got out here."
"Look for him," I yell. "Chloe is his own immediate living relative. If she's gone I don't think he'd want to live any longer. The Knight Siblings were close. Nate and Chloe are the only ones left from their family."
"Have you seen, Nate?" Ace asks a couple that is walking past.
"I saw a guy head towards the beach. He was covered in blood."
"That's him." I run down to the beach and I see Nate sitting on the sand. His head is in his arms. I walk over to him and sit down.
He looks at me. "I'm not going to do anything stupid, Jai. My sisters wouldn't want that. I just needed some time to myself. Please, tell me she's going to pull through."
I believe she will pull through and my baby too.
"The baby and Chloe will pull through. Mom knows what she's doing. She's been a doctor for thirty years. She retired two years ago, but she still takes training for when something arises. You never know when a life and death situation will happen within your life."
Nate hugs me. "Your Mom did the right thing by allowing those girls to stay with, Chloe. Do you know what caused whatever that was?"
I shake my head. "Mom will tell us." I rise. "Let's go back to the church. I want to be there when Mom has finished doing whatever she needs with Chloe."
Nate follows me back to the church.
The door opens and Teresa looks at Nate. "You two can come in now."

Nate and I follow Teresa into the room.
Mom is sewing Chloe up as I crouch next to her. She looks at me you. "You have a daughter." She points at Charlotte who is holding my baby.
I turn back to Chloe. "How is she Mom?"
Mom puts her things back into her medical bag. "Chloe is doing alright. It was your daughter that was in danger. Chloe had what's known as Vasa Previa. It was undiagnosed within her, but sometimes that can happen when the female's water breaks. Chloe needed a c section right away or she could have lost your daughter and I didn't want you in here while I did the c section on her. I couldn't handle the pressure you would have put me under to save them. That's why I had your friends take you outside."
The paramedics walk into the room and Mom tells them what she did. They put Chloe on a stretcher and they take her to the ambulance.
Charlotte places my daughter in my arms. "I will see you at the hospital."
"Okay," I take a seat at the side and look at my daughter. Her eyes are closed and she's slightly covered in blood. She has a small amount of hair on her head. She looks like an alien with a coned head shape.
Thanks to Mom giving Chloe a c section.
The paramedic looks over my daughter and he writes some things down on a piece of paper.
At the hospital, the doctor talks with the paramedic and they give the doctor all the information they need on Chloe and my daughter.
A nurse walks over to me. "Excuse me, Sir. I'm going to take your daughter in for tests. Do you have a name for her?"
I shake my head. "I want to wait and make that decision with the Mom. We didn't agree on a name yet, but I'm sure when she wakes up, we'll have a name for our princess." I place a kiss on her cheek before I carefully place my daughter in the nurse's arms.

The nurse takes my daughter to the Nic U.
Mom walks into the hospital with Charlotte, Teresa, Nate, Leila, Ace and Jeremy.
A doctor walks into the waiting room and he sees Mom. He stops walking and looks at her. "Veronica?"
Mom looks in his direction. A smile spreads across her face as she recognises the doctor. "Steven?"
Steven walks over to her. "It's been a long time since I've seen you." He looks at me and then back to Mom. "So, your the one that I should be thanking for the job you did with the girl?
"She not any girl," I say. "She's my Daughter-In-Law."
He whistles. "That must have been tough. Saving lives of your own family."
Mom shakes her head. "I did what I was trained in. I didn't think of them as my daughter-in-law and grandchild. I thought of them as my patients and I did everything I could to save them." She looks at the ground. "I remember the last time I saw a patient with Vasa Previa. She told us that she wanted extensive testing, but the doctor wouldn't listen to her concerns. I wanted to listen to her, but I couldn't go against my superior or I would have lost my job. Two days later the woman came back and she was covered in blood. We took the woman in, but the baby didn't survive due to a placenta rupture." Mom has tears falling down her face and I walk over to her. She falls into my arms and begins crying.
That must have been a hard day for her. I can't imagine seeing that happen to another person.
Mom looks at Steven. "There was a small window that I had to make the decision of saving them both. Do you know how long I had?" He shakes his head. "Three minutes. I couldn't wait for the paramedic and I made the call to deliver. I just hope that it wasn't the wrong decision."
Steven looks at her. "It wasn't."

An hour later, I am shown to the Nic U where my daughter is. She's in an incubator with cords placed on her small body.
She looks so fragile in there. I can't wait to hold her in my arms again.
I am led to a room and told me to wash my hands. I wash my hands while a nurse puts a scrub on me. I put on a pair of gloves and walk over to the incubator. I touch my daughter's arm and she opens her eyes.
There's my princess. I just wish Chloe was awake to see this.
Nate walks over to the window of Nic U and he points to his phone. I pull one of my hands from the incubator and pull my phone out.
Damn it. I wanted to be there when Mom spoke to Chloe. I don't know why she did it without me.
I take a picture of our daughter.
Later, I will show the picture to Chloe.
Nate shows me to Chloe's room. He opens the door and I see my fiancé awake and alert.
She looks at me. "Where have you been?"
"With our daughter."
A smile spreads across her face. "Can you show me a picture of her?"
I sit next to her on the bed and show her the picture of her.
Chloe looks at me and says. "Paige Aleysa Marshall."
