"This is Sakura! Leave a message."
It was raining pretty heavily as you sat on your couch, dressed in a soaked suit and hair.
"Hey Sakura...I cancelled our reservations since you never showed up at the restaurant. You haven't been home in awhile. I miss you, so just call me and let me know you're okay. Love you."
Your finger pressed onto the hang up button, placing the phone down as you walked towards the bedroom to undress.
Sakura was a busy, general physician at Konoha Hospital. You completely understood why she couldn't have made it to the past few dates, or come during the night to cuddle and do other activities.
But what you didn't understand was that she hadn't even texted you, or called you. It was sweet how she used to send you cute messages throughput the day, or call you to ensure you'd wake up for work. Now...nothing.
You got into fresh, comfortable clothes, putting on a raincoat on top. Since her absence, you felt anxious and worried for her. So, you had ordered Chinese food and decided to visit the hospital.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
One of the nurses instantly recognized your handsome, young face, her bright green eyes glowing almost as she looked at you. "Y/n! What a pleasure to see you! Are you here to see Doctor Haruno?" She said, glancing at the steamy bag of greasy food.
Chuckling lightly, you nodded. "I hope she hadn't been over working herself... haven't seen her in awhile. Here-" you told her, opening the bag and pulling out one of the three fortune cookies, "-take this. I'm sure you need it."
The nurse thanked you before she walked away, going into a patient's room.
Meanwhile, you walked up to the elevator, noticing Ino was in there. She gasped when she saw you, her finger pressing the elevator button before you even entered.
"Ino?!-" You said, rushing to the elevator faster, the doors opening quickly as it was closing once you went through them.
Ino looked paler than usual. "You shouldn't be here." She whispered to you, glaring at you. "Sakura is busy."
Feeling the slightest uncomfortable, you stayed quiet for a moment as the elevator was rising.
"What do you mean?"
• flash back •
Sakura Haruno was down the hallway, her face covered halfway with a blue mask. You, on the other hand, were a health and life insurance agent meeting with the ethical board.
Her pretty, green eyes looked over at you as you were awkwardly waiting early for the meeting room to be available.
Her heels clicked lightly as she walked over to you. "I'm sorry to bother you, but is there anything you need? You look a bit stressed." Sakura told her, her hair in a low, loose bun.
Your eyes looked over at her, giving her a small smile. "I am, actually. Patient premium and liability things can be pretty tense." You admitted to her, her hands going into your pockets. Despite how boring it sounded, she seemed generally interested as she stood by you, staring at the door.

"So you work for insurance. I'm Doctor Haruno, by the way. Thank you for the work you all do to ensure these people can get well and not have to spend million of dollars on treatment." Sakura told you, her hand out for you to shake.
Grabbing her hand, you gave it a firm shake. "I work for Patient First, actually. I'm Y/n L/n, Doctor Sakura. And thank you for all the hard work you do." You said, a small laugh coming from her.
The door opened, a few familiar faces coming closer to Sakura and you. Her pager began to beep, a sigh coming from her. "Meet me at one in the cafeteria. I'd love to hear more about it."
"See you then..." You said, watching her walk away. Your palms felt sweaty a bit as you entered into the meeting room, feeling nervous for two things now.
••••••••••••••••
She didn't say anything after that, and once the doors opened she speed walked out of it.
Feeling frustrated a bit, you stepped out onto the recovery unit of the hospital where you knew Sakura worked at during Saturday night shifts. Her office was all the way in the back, where you noticed Ino had walked into.
A patient was walking, but stumbling a bit as they walked back to their room with a nurse by their side, saying encouraging words to them. You smiled a bit by how happy the patient was, who had an amputated leg.
The nurse looked up at you, his smile deteriorating a bit before looking quickly back at the patient. You found it strange, rising an eyebrow at him before taking a deep breath.
You knocked on the door gently, hearing muffled noises.
• flash back •
Haruno had stained blood in her white coat, stirring her large cup of coffee while listening to you.
"These patients have to rely on insurance companies. We are given their weight and stress, and in return they give us money. A sick kind of bond you create with each person, but it gives them relief sometimes."
She took a sip of her coffee while you took a bite of a carrot cake/other healthy-ish treat from the cafe. "Y/n...I think you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. I see patients all the time that are sad, angry, or happy with their insurance. Most are the first two, and they don't realize of much insurance really helps. But I know why some are happy..."
You hummed in response, staring at her as she was staring out into the windows. "They have faith. Faith that God, the company, or someone or something will help them with paying for treatment. It's a horrible world we live in, to have to rely on others so much. But we need it.. that's how they trust us, too."
"Makes sense," you said in agreement, smiling wider. She paused, grabbing a small business card. "Call me. Or text me. I would love to see you again..."
•••••••••••••
Sakura blushed a deep red, her legs opened with Ino between them as she kissed her neckline. "Why can't you break up with him already? Don't you want me?!" Ino was saying loudly, holding her firmly in the office desk.
She was breathing in a shaky voice, her palms holding her up on the desk as her white coat was tossed off to reveal her casual dress. "I-Ino...I love you, I really do...I need to think more."
Ino stopped, her icy blue eyes gazing up to hers as she frowned. "You've been thinking for weeks! For months! I'm tired of being the side chick, Sakura~!" She whined, her hands sliding under the dress fabric.

"P-Please, I don't have any pro-"
The door opened, reveal the two women intimately touching.
You stood there, mouth wide opened.
You dropped the Chinese food on the floor with a loud thump.
"....Sakura." you whispered, her eyes widened as her body froze.
••••••••••••••
Two months of dating after six months of knowing each other.
"I really, really like you..." You mumbled, your red, drunken expression rubbing against her, Sakura laughing as she was taking you home.
"I like you a lot too, Y/n." She told you, opening your home door and leading you to your bed. The two of walked a bit wobbly, which luckily she didn't drink and drove sober.
A bit slobbery, you looked at her. "Even though you're my girlfriend, and I'm a guy....I heard that you like BOTH girls and guys. Is this true?" You asked her, who turned red. "Y-Y/n....I don't know. But I don't need to date a girl when I have you, silly!" She said to you, her laugh nervous almost.
Agreeing with her, you collapsed onto the mattress, embracing her as your lips locked onto each other. And that was the first night you ever slept with Sakura.
••••••••••••••
The door was shut as the three of you were in tense air, your attitude in shock as you watched the two females back away from each other. Sakura's hair was all messy, as if they had done more than what he saw. Ino looked beyond upset, her fist shaking as she looked at him.
"If you won't tell him-" she said, looking at Sakura, "-I will."
You were confused, looking over at your girlfriend as she got into white coat. She took a deep breath, walking over to you. "Y/n...I....I think I like Ino. A lot." Sakura whispered.
The pain in your chest rested firmly, your eyes widening. "Like? As in... girlfriend a lot?" You said quietly. Ino nodded, coming up from behind Sakura and snaking her arm around her. "Y/n, you're not good enough for her." Ino hissed at you.
Haruno looked back at Ino, glaring at her. "Don't talk to him like that! I may like you...but I still love Y/n." She said to her, who scoffed before removing her arm from her. Ino leaned on the desk.
"This is some serious stuff. Sakura, you need to choose." You told her in a low voice, grabbing her hand with a gentle grip. She gulped, bringing your hands to her lips and kissing them.
Sakura spoke in a meek voice. "I-I can't...." She could barely say. "Y/n, I never wanted you to find out this way. Please believe me that I was going to tell you!"
You let go of her hand, wrapping her into a hug. Ino walked over slowly, hugging Sakura behind as she began to year up.
She looked up at both of you, biting her lip. "H-How do I choose?....you two...are the greatest thing to ever happen to me." Sakura asked the two of you.
Ino and you met eyes, her expression softer than before. "Maybe you don't. Just be with us...together. All three of us."
Her eyes looked over specifically at Ino. "Like polyamous?" Sakura said. You bit your lip, hesitantly nodding. You carefully patted Ino's shoulder, who smiled a bit at you as she kissed the too of Sakura's head. "Yes. We'll make this workout somehow, right Y/n?"
You didn't know how you would feel about it. But you agreed anyways, kidding Sakura's forehead. "It's going to be okay...and also, can we please eat now?"
The three of you released, putting the trust into each other to build faith upon a blossoming three way relationship.
°°°°°°°°°°° four months later °°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Ino, Sakura, and you lived together. It was cute, almost, that you could share Sakura with Ino. Not only that, you even began to like Ino being around now.
Ino and you were cooking pasta/other preferred meal for dinner. There was light music in the background, her mouth shut as she hummed to it while stirring the sauce/whatever preferred.
You were dumping the dried noodles into boiling water/cooking some of the preferred meal, glancing at her. "Ino....You know she will decide eventually." You told her quietly. She stated down at the pan, frowning. "For a guy, you seem really caring about your girlfriend." Ino mumbled. You glared at her, taking offense of her stereotyping your male gender.
"I mean it!" You told her, your expression serious as you were leaning on a counter. "I see it in the way she behaves. Her anxious looks. How she acts when we're all together sleeping. Sakura feels guilty, I think."
Hee pony tail swayed a bit as she walked over to you, grabbing one of your hands. "Well, when she does... We aren't going to hate each other, right?" Ino whispered. You smiled a bit, nodding as you gave her hand a gentle squeeze.
"Definitely not."
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Haruno made it home around ten pm, which dinner was made ready for that specific time. She walked over to you as you were pouring glasses of wine, hugging you from behind and kissing the back of your neck. "Hey cutie." Sakura told you, patting you gently. "Hey, Pinky." You told her in return, looking back as she let go of you.
She gave Ino a quick pecking on the lips, but never embraced her. "Hey cutie number two." Sakura said, giggling as Ino snickered. "Hey Hottie~" Ino said in return. In her hand was her own plate, placing it down at the dining table.
"Well, what're we waiting for? Let's eat!"
Everyone sat down, giving thanks and chowing down on dinner. The three of you didn't talk much, especially hungry Sakura from her fourteen hour shift.
Time flew by as the plates were emptied from food, your stomach slightly bloated. You looked at the two ladies drink the last remains of their alcohol, Sakura placing it down first.
"I have made a decision." She said. You immediately made eye contact with Ino, your eyes crying out the words "I told you so" to her, who frowned before focusing back on Sakura.
She looked down at her lap, sighing softly.
"I think I want to be with...... "

°°•°° INO ROUTE °°•°°
"Ino."
You hitched your breath, looking at the blonde as she cupped her mouth. Ino's eyes began to water, her lips quivering. "R-Really?" She whispered. Sakura nodded, leaning forwards and grabbing her hands from her face.
She kissed them, closing her eyes as she did so. You felt awkward, but yet glad to see Sakura happy. She looked over at you, a tiny of guilt in her eyes.
"I'll get started with the dishes." You said, patting Ino's back before walking away from the table.
The girls left into the bedroom, perhaps to talk more intimately. Your heart and chest get heavy as she didn't even bother to say anything to you that night.
Two days later, everything Sakura had was moved out as she went to live with Ino.
°°•°°YOUR ROUTE°°•°°
"Y/n."
Your eyes widened, a smile rising a bit as you kept your eyes on her, who blushed as she smiled back at you.
Ino stood up, looking at you and placing a hand on your shoulder. "I'm sorry I stepped into this relationship. Please make sure she's always happy."
Sakura stood up too, frowning at her ex girlfriend now. "Ino...thank you for being so calm with this." She said to her. Ino nodded, walking towards the door.
Haruno closed the door once she left, your frame watching from afar as she sighed in relief. Life would go back to normal, and you could forget about her cheating.
°°•°° NO ONE °°•°°
"Neither of you guys. I'm sorry- this has just been too, too much for me."
Both of you had your mouth agape. "B-But..." Ino whispered, meanwhile you rubbed your temple, looking down at the table.
"You said you loved us!"
She bit her lip, Sakura's eyes watering. "It's stressful, feeling pressured to choose! I hate this...this idea that I have too! So I'm going to let go of both of you so I can start fresh- boy or girl!" She told the two of you. Sakura got up, wiping the tear that was falling.
Ino glared at you, raising an eyebrow. "aren't you going to do something, Y/n?!" She asked you, Sakura's heels clicking towards the door.
The door closed by the time you looked up, meeting eye with Ino.
She cursed under her breath, looking over at the door. "I hate you." Ino whispered, leaning on your shoulder anyways as she closed her eyes, her hands balling in fists.
"I hate you too." You whispered, wrapping an arm around her as well as all went silent.

To The Far Shore
Post apocalyptic Oregon Trail. The apocalypse has come and gone. And come back again, and left again... nobody really knows how often. Nothing lasts forever, but nothing is ever completely gone. Which is a shame for young Mazelton, as his family has been around a terribly long time, and made an astonishing amount of enemies. Millenia's worth. So he has to run- from mobs, cannibals, soldiers, sailors, cholera, cattle, thieving sales-monks, starvation, mechanical horrors, vengeful spirits, negotiating your own marriage, and poison of every sort. Fortunately, his not terribly nice family has trained him well in the arts of core polishing. Or as you and I might know it- turning radioactive pellets into useful tools. And weapons. Updates Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Usual defensive tags applied. The goal isn't exactly family friendly, but you have probably seen worse on network TV. After the watershed. Not full blown HBO, let's say. This is the first novel I am sharing publicly, so feedback is very much appreciated and encouraged. Act 1 of the novel is completed, but do please let me know what works, what doesn't, and what you would like to see more of. Thank you, and Enjoy!
