《Prinxiety One Shots》House on the Hill (Part 1?)

"Do you want to move in with me? I may or may not have bought a house and then I realized I need help to pay rent..." Roman finished his proposal and looked up at Virgil for an answer. The two boys have been best friends since diapers and Roman wanted to move in with his best friend for life.
"Sure why not? It could be fun" Virgil said as he looked at his best friend, giving him his infamous side smile. Roman smiled back brightly, showing off his perfect pearly white teeth.
"So am I going to get to see my new house or what?" Virgil asked sarcastically. Roman rolled his eyes and grabbed Virgil's wrist.
"Well mister gloom and doom, if you follow me, I will show you your new residence." Virgil felt his face flush slightly when Roman grabbed his hand. He shook his head slightly and blamed it on the hot weather.
Roman and Virgil walked down the sidewalk, Roman still dragging Virgil by his wrist. The two boys got to a driveway. The first half looked paved but the second half was gravel. Virgil followed the driveway with his eyes and came to an old-looking wooden cabin sitting on a hill, secluded from the rest of town. It was no doubt one of those houses that kids would dare each other to ring the doorbell on Halloween or one of the houses that the town made up ghost stories about. You know, those kinds of houses.
Virgil looked at Roman with an eyebrow raised. He was surprised Roman picked such a secluded and creepy house considering he was a creative person and preferred fancy modern houses and to be in the middle of town. The talk of the town in a good way, not as a ghost story.
"What? I know that look. If it's about the house then I can tell you why I picked it, but I think you're going to see why today and later tonight." Roman said as he turned around.
"If you say so Princey," Virgil responded looking at Roman and then back at the house.
"Well, let's go," Roman said and let go of Virgil's hand to walk up the driveway. Virgil would be lying if he said he didn't miss Roman's touch. They continued on the driveway until they reached the house. It was creepier up close than far away. Not that Virgil really minded. He looked back at Roman one last time as he opened the door.
"Hey Ro?" Virgil asked using the nickname for the creative one that he rarely used, causing the taller one to look up at him from the doorknob.
"Yes, Virgil?" Roman responded, looking back at the door, still fiddling with the key.
"Can I have the other key to the house please?" Virgil asked, watching Roman fiddle with the key-hole.
"Of course! Oh wait, I forgot to give it to you. Sorry Virge, here it is." Roman handed him the key and smiled brightly. Virgil pocketed the key and looked at the trees that made a 'U' around the back of the house. The one tree looked to be planted and had pears growing on it. Virgil smiled fondly. Pears have always been one of his favorite fruits. He heard a faint click and turned to see the door was opened.

"We might need to get a new lock," Virgil said as he walked in behind Roman.
"Uh? Oh no, I just put the key in the lock upside down," Roman said as he gave a big toothy grin.
"Only you Roman, only you," Virgil said shaking his head fondly.
The two boys walked through the door and were welcomed with dusted furniture that looked to be from the '40s. The whole house looked to be lost in time with the faded green walls and striped furniture, not to mention the infinite supply of floral patterns they now had access to. Roman and Virgil walked upstairs after exploring the blue kitchen and pink and green bathrooms. They opened the first door on the right of the staircase and found a dusty bedroom. From the pink and white flowery color scheme, they assumed the bedroom once belonged to a little girl.
The bedroom was a smaller looking one that contained what looked to be a twin-sized bed in the middle of the room, up against the wall in front of the door. The closet was small and sat at a 45-degree angle in the corner, facing the door. It sat on the left wall, far from the door. Along with that, there was a desk and a chair with what appeared to be homework on it on the right wall.
Roman walked over to the closet and opened it revealing garments such as dresses, shirts, and pants. The dresses were in bright pinks and yellows with white frills on the collar and sleeves. The dresses appeared to come down to just above the knee when on someone it was made to fit.
"Looks like this room belongs to a little girl anywhere from seven to ten" Roman said, looking back at Virgil who was looking at Roman longingly. Almost like he wants something but he doesn't even know he wants. Virgil quickly averted his gaze and started to stare at the homework.
"Maybe the homework has a name on it," Virgil thought aloud as he walked over to the work sitting innocently on the desk.
"Maybe, good idea Virge!" Roman said pounding his fist upwards triumphantly. Virgil looked back just in time to see it and smiled at his best friend's antics. Best friend... why doesn't that sound right to him?
He looked at the work and saw it was indeed homework. The name was Sandra Mary Borrson. The name was a lovely one. The work looked to be math.
"Hey Roman, I got a name," Virgil said looking back at Roman.
"Really what?" Roman asked as he walked towards Virgil.
"Sandra Mary Borrson" Virgil responded, pointing to the paper with the girl's name on it.
"Pretty," Roman said, staring at the paper and the curly hand-writing that was engraved into it. Virgil rolled his eyes in a playful way.
The two left the room and went to the end of the already short hallway. The door at the end turned out to lead to another bathroom, looking similar to the one on the bottom floor. They closed the door and walked to the other side of the top floor, to the other hallway. This one was slightly longer but contained a similar get-up. Only the bedroom looked to be the master bedroom. They left the Room after discovering it didn't hold many interesting items. As they were going to go back downstairs to discuss who gets which room, Virgil noticed something. The wallpaper looked to split in a rectangular shape.

"Hey Roman, that looked kind of like a door. Do you think we should look?" Virgil said, pointing at the ripping wallpaper.
"Hey, yeah, it kind of does. I think we should." Roman looked over at Virgil and started walking towards the suspicious paper. They tore it revealing a wooden door that looked beat up. Roman found the doorknob on the floor and was surprised he had not seen it earlier. He put the knob on the door and tried to open it. Locked.
"Oh! Maybe this is like that scene in Coraline where she found the key to the other world in her kitchen! I'll go look there and you can come with me!" Virgil said jumping slightly which just proved how excited he really was. Though true to his usual nature, you could hear a slight nervousness in his voice. Although only a close friend would catch such a thing. Like Roman, friend.. The work still didn sit quite right with Virgil's current frazing. The word felt like there should be more to it. At the beginning. Virgil still didn't know what though.
Roman chuckled at how cute he was. "Well then, let's go check the drawers in the kitchen." Cute.. a word Roman felt described his best friend wonderfully. Are best friends supposed to think of one another as cute?
Virgil ran down the stairs like a kid on Christmas with Roman right behind him. He made a sharp turn into the kitchen and grabbed the counter to stop himself. Roman ran into him and sent both of them flying to the floor. Virgil got up and dusted himself off, then he grabbed Roman's hand and attempted to help him.
They checked the drawers till Virgil found one with a key in it under some forks.
"Found it! I found it!" He said happily and looked at Roman. He was still nervous, Romn could tell it. He wanted to slay all things that harmed his Vorgil in that moment. His Virgil... it felt right and so, free and natural. Like Virgil being his, out of harm's way is destiny.
"Nice! Let's go." Roman replied, walking towards the staircase with a less bouncy Virgil in front of him.
They opened the door revealing a staircase. Up the staircase held an attic with boxes all over, most containing decor for the holidays. However, on one box there was a leatherback book that appeared to be a diary of sorts.
"Hey Virge, you will never guess what I just found," Roman called over his left shoulder to Virgil.
"Yeah? What is it?" Virgil asked, walking over to Roman to get a look at what he found.
"It's a journal. I wonder what's in it. Maybe the life story of Sandra's parents, that would be boring though." Roman said, thinking aloud.
"Why don't we check? It doesn't have a lock on it." Virgil said, pointing to the side without the spine. There was indeed no lock on the leatherbound book.
"Fair enough," Roman said, nodding slightly than opening the book to be greeted with what appeared to be an introduction page.
"Looks like some sort of introduction page. Let me read it." Virgil said, reaching for the book. Roman shrugged and gave the book to his best friend.
"Hello to anyone who reads this. My name is Nancy Sandra Reagold. I live in a small town and have always dreamed of living on the hill with my future husband who I hope will be my best friend. If I ever had a daughter her name would be Sandra. It's my middle name and I have always loved it. My best friend's name is James Paul Borrson. We are both juniors in high school. I have a little brother and an older sister. Dad is in the Navy and went to fight in the war. Mom is really worried about him. Anyway, I will write more soon." Virgil read and looked up at Roman.
"Nancy and James must be the parents of Sandra," Roman said, pointing out the obvious.
"Well obviously, but the question is, what happened to them?" Virgil asked, kind of getting anxious. He had anxiety, but it wasn't as bad as it used to be. He used to be really paranoid, and he got over it.
"I... don't know, but maybe I should name my future kid Nancy Sandra. It's a beautiful name," Roman said, looking at Virgil at the thought of kids. A family with Virgil... why did that sound perfect. Roman was too busy imagining a family with his 'best friend' to notice how much that 'friend' was blushing, no doubt imagining the same thing.

The Ancient Core: A Progression Fantasy
The title of [The Ancient One] is bestowed upon an unassuming, forgotten Core. Hidden deep underground, it lies in wait, biding its time as it learns the rules of its surroundings. Roaming beasts and unknown threats surely threaten the little rock as it sticks to the darkness, its one true refuge. This is a slow-burning Dungeon-Core fiction with a LitRPG-System. You can expect an extreme amount of kingdom-building, an more in-depth Mana-System, and a Evolution-System. Chapters are between the length of 2-4k words, though the first 50 will likely be closer to 4k. Anything after will have the average be 2.5k. I personally like explaining how things work a lot, so do have that in mind if you decide to read this fiction. Just a Rock
There was once a writer that felt like creating a story about a rock. A rock so amazing that its story just needed to be told. How amazing? Not amazing at all, on the contrary, quite ordinary. Don't believe me? Then read on. Edit: Resumed the story. Can’t do any more audio versions for now. I plan on editing some of the now non-applicable author notes and maybe rearranging the two side stories or combining them with the deleted chapters.
