The thought of Blain knocking on my door no longer scared me, in fact I was looking forward to those random visits.
There had been a couple of more visit after our coffee date. I shouldn't say date exactly more like a coffee hang out. Anyway I was going to say that I still haven't told him the whole story which I feel bad about.
I want to tell him why I keep avoiding those personal questions that he asks. I am going to tell him, it's only fair since he has told me some pretty personal thing about himself.
The knock on the door makes me turn of the computer. I already know it's him.
His smile shines just as bright as always when I open the door.
"" The way my name rolls of his toung is pleasant.
"Hello Blain I am doing fine thank you... I have something to show you." I say after a long pause.
The look on his face is questioning as I run to get the shoebox from under my bed. The box I only open on specific days every year.
"Do you remember what I told you at the coffee shop the other day?" I ask him and he nodds. "Well I only told you half the truth."
With shaking breaths I open the shoebox.
"I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, my mom left when I was seventeen and my best friend killed herself exactly a year after my mother left. Since then I have had problems with trusting people." Tears are burning in my eyes. "The people I loved the most in the whole world left me."
The first tear rolls down my cheek.
"Elizabeth is my best friends sister, she is also the only reason why I am still alive."

I now look up at him and give him a picture. The two young girls could be mistaken for sisters.
"Emily was my everything, but I was to busy pitying my self to see how much pain she was in."
Tears are now pouring from my eyes.
"Elizabeth lost her sister so I had to become her new one, it's only fair because I killed Emily." I cry.
Blain keeps quiet.
I ruined it, I ruined the singel best thing that happened to me in three years. He will leave and never talk to me again. Who keeps talking to the fucked up girl?
Before I know it he wraps his arms right around me and lets me cry again his shoulder.

People from a technologically advanced society are thrown into a world where they can't maintain their tech. They are forced to rely on medieval technology where they have to make do with the limited resources they have and what little of their old technology is still working. Their gene manipulation allows them to have something akin to superpowers, but that doesn't help much against the monsters of their new world.
