《Cupid's Arrow ✔》Chapter 3

You have to be kidding me!
This can't be happening. I mean, Chase freaking Mason is standing there in front of me, smirking.
"Well, well, if it isn't Little Miss Innocent." Chase said with a wink. Yeah I already know him and I wish I didn't.
"What in the world are you doing here?" I asked, scoffing. Remember when I said Jeff was the biggest jerk, well I take my statement back. Chase Mason is the biggest jerk, pig, arrogant person on this planet.
With that, his smirk grew wider and he said, "Why, hello! Princess, miss me?"
I frowned. "Miss you? I'd rather die."
"That hurts, princess." He placed a hand over his heart, mocking me. I glared at him while he just smirked at me. How I really want to remove that smirk off his face.
"What are you doing here?" I asked with an irritated expression.
"I can ask you the same thing, sunshine." He raised his eyebrow.
"I live here, you see. Now tell me why are you here?" I asked him slowly like I'm talking to a child.
He ignored my remark and once again his smirk grew. He didn't reply, thinking about something. He opened the back seat and a girl around seven years ran into the house next to me.
No, someone tell me it's not what I thinking.
"Guess we are neighbours, sweetheart." With that he went into the house behind the girl, who I assume was his sister.
What is with him and all that stupid nicknames? Why is he here? I was never suppose to see him again. I sighed and went inside. I greeted my parent and informed them that I'm not hungry when they asked me to sit for dinner. I went upstairs to my room, took some clothes from my closet and changed in the bathroom.
I wore my nightwear that I usually wear– short shorts and an oversize t-shirt. And now I wished I hadn't worn them today. I came out and walked to where I kept my iPod and played my all time favorite one direction song 'kiss you' and started dancing around while cleaning my room. It's not usually this messy, but with Ashley today, I had to clean it. I was so in the dancing that I didn't notice someone was watching me.
"Did anyone tell you that you can't dance?" An amusing voice said from the window opposite mine.
With a loud yelp, I fell from whatever move I was trying to do on the floor.
I glared at whoever said that. When I saw who it was at the window, all I wanted to do was dig a hole and die and never come back to life.
I blushed in embarrassment and glared at him. "What are you doing there?"
"I already told you, cupcake. I'm your neighbour." He said with a smirk.
"Quit with your nickname already." I glared at him and went to the window opposite from where he was standing.
"Never." He said. I looked at him confused as to what was he talking about. He just chuckled at my confusion and said, "I am never going to stop giving you nicknames, princess." So we are now back on princess, I see.
"Whatever." I said, dismissing him.
I continued with my cleaning while he watched me do so. Something clicked and I turned to him. He raised a questioning eyebrow at me.

"You are not standing in your room, are you?" I asked him, horrified. He can't have the room opposite mine. He can see whatever I do as long as I keep my curtains open. How anyone can build a house so close to each other? I have to talk to the person who made it this way.
He smirked. "I'm afraid it is."
Why does it always happen to me? Why God? Why. Today is definitely the worst day of my life.
"Can I ask you question, Chloe?" He asked.
"Yeah, what is it?" I asked.
"Where is Emma?"
On hearing her name, I froze. My eyes widened and I turned, so my back was facing him. Why did he say her name? Oh, I forgot he knows her.
"She is not here." I replied, without any hint of emotion. "I have to sleep. Goodnight, Chase." I closed the curtains and told myself not to cry. I know he must be confused, but I'm not ready to accept the fact. With the last thought, I switched off my light, went to my comfortable bed and let the dream come in.
**
Next morning was a good morning. I woke up with a smile on my face, but everything from last night flashed in my mind. I frowned, remembering I woke up early yesterday because of Ashley, went to the mall with my friends and found out that I was having a new neighbour...Chase. I groaned, not wanting to ruin my morning by thinking about him.
Finally, after staying in bed for few more minutes and wishing yesterday was a dream, I went to the bathroom and followed my morning routine before going downstairs for my breakfast. After saying good morning to my parents, I started preparing my cereal, only for Mom to ruin it by bringing up the neighbours.
"Chloe, did you see that we are finally having neighbours?" Mom asked, excitement lacing her tone.
I rolled my eyes. "Yes Mom, I saw. Apparently, their son's room is opposite of mine."
"Did you see him? Is he hot? What did you guys talk?" She raised her eyebrow in a suggestive manner. I groan. Whose Mom asks these type of question to their daughter? Sometimes she can act like a teenager.
"Nothing happened. Can you behave like a Mom?" I rolled my eyes at her, just as I finished my cereal. "Anyway, I'm going out."
"Oh no, you are not." She said. I raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Why not?"
"Because." She said.
"Because what?"
"Because we are going to our neighbour's house today to welcome them." She said with a smile.
"No," I quickly said. She raised an eyebrow in a manner telling me 'who asked you. I am telling we have to go, means we have to.' Great, just great.
"Fine." I sigh.
Before I left the kitchen mom shouted, "Oh, by the way, Liam called in the morning. Make sure you talk to him."
Liam called. Yay! I can't believe he called. I was waiting for so long. Happily, I went to my room and called Liam.
I dialled his number and waited for him to pick up. When he picked up, I literally shouted. "Oh my god, Liam I miss you so much."
He just chuckled. "I miss you too, Inno." I pouted. Not again, I'm not Inno. Well, Inno means innocent. He always calls me that. I'm not innocent anymore.

"I am not innocent." I voiced my thought. Again, he only chuckled.
"Okay okay, you are not innocent. Happy!" He said while I just laughed. Well, I guess today won't go like yesterday.
"How are you?" I asked.
"I'm fine, actually I'm great. I have some good news for you." He said in excitement.
"What is it?" I asked, excited as to what he has for me.
"I am coming to meet you and everybody else," he said. I started jumping up and down.
"Really, you are? You better not be joking about this," I said, slightly threatening him in case he bails on me. "You promise?"
"I promise."
"Pinky swear?" I asked with a smile. It's like a tradition to pinky swear, and if you break it, the consequence are not at all good.
"Yeah, Chloe. I pinky swear." When he said that my face broke into a grin.
"Okay then. I can't wait to see you."
"Me too, Chloe, me too." He said. I could hear the sadness in his voice.
He really misses me.
"I love you, Chloe."
"Love you too, bro." I replied. I genuinely miss him. Especially after Emma...
We said our goodbyes and hung up the phone. As I turned, I literally got a heart attack. What the hell?
"What the hell? How long have you been standing there?" I asked him as my heart finally decided to beat at its normal pace.
"Don't worry sweetheart, I just came." he said.
That's when I noticed his nakedness. It looks like he just came out after taking a bath. He wasn't even wearing a shirt. The towel was wrapped around his waist, covering his junk from me. Water was dripping from his hair to his well toned body. Gosh! He has 6 pack abs. I was drooling now. Man, he's hot! But I won't ever admit it out loud.
"Like what you see?" He asked, cocking his eyebrow with a smirk on his lips. I snapped out of it, blush rising to my face.
God! How embarrassing. Was I just drooling over his body? What the hell is wrong with me?
"I-I have seen b-better." I stuttered.
His smirk widening. "Really, who may I ask?"
"Liam." I simply answered. I mean, yeah he's my brother, but have you seen the guy's ego. Liam always came to me shirtless and brags on how hot he looks and that any girl would be lucky to have him, all the while I tried not to gag.
"Whatever," he said with an irritated expression as he closed his window and curtain.
I stood there, dumbfounded. Did I say something wrong?
Maybe he is bi-polar, my mind said.
Maybe.
Later, I went downstairs because I had nothing to do. Here goes my Sunday. I blame it on Chase.
It was 4 pm and I was still watching TV, when I smelled something mouthwatering cooking in the kitchen. What smells so good? I went to kitchen to see where the smell was coming from. I noticed Mom making cookies. Yumm! Cookies are my favorite.
Just as I was about to take one from the basket, I got startled by my Mom's voice. "Don't even think about it." She said, her back turned towards me. How did she know I was about to take one? Well, the saying is true, 'Mom knows better.'
I sighed. "Fine, I won't take. But why are you making them?" I asked, sniffing around the cookies. I really want one.
"We are taking them to our neighbours, so that they feel welcomed." Oh! That makes sense.
"But can I have one, please." I gave her my famous puppy dog face. She sighed.
"Fine, but only one." She said. I happily took one and moaned. Wow, this is heaven.
**
At 5 pm, we went to Mason's house aka Chase's house. Just as I was about to ring the doorbell, the door suddenly opened and a very happy looking woman stood there with a big grin on her face.
"Hello, I am Stacie." She introduced with a cheerful voice.
"Hello," Mom said with the same tone. "I am Lauren, your neighbour. And this is my daughter, Chloe."
She smiled at me and I returned with a smile of my own. She asked us to come in and we followed her inside. They have a beautiful house designed with cream color wall and brown furniture with photos hung on every wall we passed. We entered the living room and sat on the sofa while Stacie sat on the love seat. She smiled at me and began talking to my Mom.
"Chloe, sweetie, which school do you go to?" Stacie asked, giving me her attention.
"Valleywood High school." I answered with a smile.
"Oh, that's nice. Chase is going to join the same school. I hope you both become good friends." She says, kindly. Friends, I don't think so. If he is going to go at Valleywood, I'm surely going to ignore him. And anyway, he'll be one of the jocks or the badboy of the school for all I know. He'll hit off with the popular crowd in no time. And maybe with Ashley also, knowing that she is one of the popular...
"Sure, I hope so too." Not. I say in my mind and give a fake smile which she returned with her sweet one.
"Why don't you go upstairs? Chase is in his room. You can start your friendship now." She said with a suggestive tone. I nodded my head and went upstairs to his room.
"It is to your right, second door," Stacie said as I was going.
When I reached his door, I debated with myself. Should I go in or not? What if he is naked? I shuddered, not wanting to get any unwanted picture in my head. Without knocking, I went inside and was shock to what I saw.
His room was clean, if that was even possible. I've known that most of the guys have messy room. I have been to Liam's room and I have never seen his room clean. Well, I guess Chase likes to keep his room clean. His bed was pressed against the wall on my right and his window was just a bit in front of his bed to the right. To my left, there was a book shelf. Yes! A book shelf and a study table. And a bathro–
"I never took you to be the type of girl that walks in a guy's room to do..you know what." A voice said from behind me.

Noli Me Tank in a Mall
Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo are important cultural works that ignited the Philippine Revolution against Spain. They are novels that exposed to the populace the abuses and the injustices of their Spanish colonial rulers, the hypocrisy of their priests, and inherent cruelty of their class structure over the powerless masses. Unfortunately, they rose up in the middle of the Spanish-American War, one which saw Spain lose most of their overseas colonies and decisively end as a World Power. The war ended in the 1898 Treaty of Paris, in which Spain also sold the Philippines to the USA for the sum of twenty million dollars. The revolutionary government was then crushed by the overwhelming military might of the United States and the Philippines turned into a territory. While the Philippines stands as the USA's greatest successes in nation-building, their early occupation left almost one-fifth of the population dead from combat and disease. Jose Rizal was executed by the Spanish long before knowing what might happen to his country. The world presented within The Noli and the El Fili is therefore stuck frozen in time, forever caught in that moment before a Revolution. Now let's see what happens to this nation if we give it the Light Novel treatment and jam the entirety of the Internet into their protagonist's skull and watch him try to fix things with his unfortunate tendency to sound like a supervillain. Updates Mondays and Fridays. Note: The Noli and El Fili have been public domain since 1946. This is completely fair game.
