The doors opened again and you fell as aggressively as you could through the opening. Your arms were covered in goosebumps. "Who was that in the elevator... am I... going crazy?" You shook your head and laughed quietly as you moved towards the exit of the hospital. "Yeah, of course I am. I'm talking to myself aren't I? But still..."
You sighed as you exited the hosptial, hot air smacking you in the face and instantly drenching you in sweat. You grit your teeth in annoyance as you looked around the front, trying to spy your feathered companion from the front door. "Hades!!!" You beckoned. "Here birdie birdie birdie! Hades want a cracker? Huh? Hades wanna cracker?"
A distant caw, then a flurry of black feathers and Hades appeared before you. His small eyes seemed pinned to you cautiously as you grinned and held out an arm. "Come on. Sans is gonna teleport us to the Judgement Hall so we can get this over with." You explained gently, pretending he actually understood.
You smiled and stroked his feathers as he perched your arm. Your feet turned you robotically and you marched straight into the hospital with an air of confidence. Hades cawed at you frantically, but you pinched his beat such between your fingers and motioned for him to be quiet. "Quiet Hades! Don't cause such a recuss!" You nagged.
He folded his head down and hopped to your shoulder. His small frame nestled against your neck and you snickered. As you strode through the hospital, challenging the conflicted stares of nurses who knew Hades wasn't allowed, you avoided the elevator and walked towards the stairs. "There ain't no fucking way I'm getting on that demon-vator again. You would've shit yourself if you were there Hades. This creepy as thing was following me down the halls earlier, then started whispering to me behind my back when the doors closed. It sounded like some possessed little girl."
Hades cawed again, making it seem like he was listening. You laughed as you opened the door to the stairs and began to climb the flights. "It was really weird though. Because when I was asleep, you probably won't care about this anyway but I can visit Death when I'm asleep, we met up like always and it was normal until some demonic child popped up out of no where. She looked almost exactly like Frisk, but it was like she had evil oozing over of her. She told me Death was lying then disappeared. Creepy right? And then that ghost thing?! What are the odds! It's like the afterlife is trying to warn me away by scaring me. Funny huh?"
Hades was silent and you sighed. "Sorry, I guess your little bird brain couldn't comprehend all this. You're probably thinking about seeds or corn right about now."
Hades cawed once more as you reach the door to your level. You laughed as you pushed open the door and walked through the halls once more. Again it was eerily quiet. From afar you could hear Frisk giggling, probably at Sans' idiotic jokes once again.
Both you and Hades remained silent as you navigated the wide corridors. Stray carts and beds lined the walls every so often. It felt so abandoned compared to the rest of the building. Maybe it really was haunted.
You stepped one foot before another as you slowly approached your door. You could still hear Frisk laughing and you smiled gently. For a moment you froze, simply listening to his laughter. You savored the sound and tucked it away safely in your memory. Something for road to wherever the hell you'd end up.

"You're going to miss him." A voice growled behind you.
You jumped away with a yelp as you whipped around. Hades leapt from your shoulder and rounded your head as you faced the newcomer. Your heart stopped and your lungs felt empty in an instant. Unnaturally pale skin was flushed with frightening rosey cheeks. A thin lipped grin parted to reveal a razor-toothed grin, like a shark had relinquished its malice to the crature. Short auburn gair crowned her head, neatly layered under a black, wilted wresth. A tattered black dress clung to her small, thin frame, the once poofy skirt now nothing more than torn and hole ridden layers of tule. You met her gaze and almost immediately fell to your knees. Two black cesspools of inky, obsidian liquid drip from her wide eyes, strokes of black trailing over her pink cheeks and down her chin.
You could feel your heart hammering against your ribcage, as though is could break free and run away by itself. Your lips moved to speak but nothing came to you. Your palms trembled as you watched the petite, humanoid creature step closer and closer. "Hello Lost Soul..." She hummed in a sweet, sickening tone. "You have nothing to fear. I'm not here to harm you."
"Yeah right!" You snapped. "I've seen horror movies before! I know you're fucking lying!"
"You really shouldn't judge people by there appearance. It's not fault Death made me this way." She cooed.
Your body felt rigid and once again you were silent. Hades cawed wildly at the girl but you moved to cover his beak once more. Your instincts told you to run away, but your curiousity willed stronger. "What are you talking about?" You asked, tone softer than before.
The girl averted her gaze and sighed, grin falling into a frown as she emphasized her supposed pain. "Once upon a time, in a different world, my name.... was Chara." She said quietly. "But Death, the very entity your trusting your life with, failed to complete his task and I've become this monster."
You recognized the name, but for some reason you could pull no memory of it. You clenched your fist and laughed shakily. "You're lying aren't you. You're some demon just trying to trick me out of my soul."
She shook her head and attempted to smile. "You know just as well as I, a human cannot take another human's soul. Even if I wanted your soul, I'm am too weak to take it from you. Your soul is strong."
You snorted in laughter before motioning to your chest. "Are you blind?! My soul is on the verge of shattering! How the hell is that considered strong?!"
"You were able to harvest the magic flowing in the universe to rebuild your body. Even if it's decaying now, the amount of power it takes to harness magic like that is almost impossible. I can see why Death hides your salavtion from you."
"My what?" Hades began to caw again, launching into the air towards the girl. Her body vanished into smoke and she reappeared not too far. Hades drove at her again and again but she evaded with ease.
"Death fears the power you wield." She echoed. "He didn't tell because he fear you may even surpass him."
"What are you talking about?!" You snapped. "Hades back off!"

"With the power you possess, naive Lost Soul, you could become a god."
You stopped in your tracks and looked at the girl. "A god..."
Her body disappeared and her giggle rang through the halls. You looked around wildly but she was nowhere. Suddenly, weight fell on your shoulders and her whispered came in your ear. "You could save the Underground and remain with Frisk. Just ask Death. I'm sure he'll know all about it."
You turned and she was gone. You blinked and you were once again facing the door. Frisk's laughed echoed through the wood as though he had merely been paused. Hades stood rigidly on your shoulder, looking around wildly. You looked at your hand on the doorknob, just as it had been before that girl had shown up. Chara. Why did that sound familiar?
"What just...happened?"
The door pulled open away from you and you squealed as suddenly you came face to face with Sans. He jumped back with a cry, Frisk yelping behind him. You dissolved into an exasperated, gasping laugh as you held your chest. "Jesus Christ Sans you scared the shit out of me." You heaved.
"I'm say same but skeletons don't really have bowels." He shot back.
"Ew..." Frisk groaned. "I don't want to hear about your weird monster digestive system."
"Seriously Frisk? How long have you known Sans?" You teased. "You're so immature."
"You still laugh at butt jokes!!!" Frisk retorted.
"Butt they're so funny!" You joked, making Frisk release another cry if anguish and Sans burst into a fit of giggles. Hades cawed inpatiently and you rolled your eyes.
"I think that's our cue guys. Hades is being bitchy again." You lulled. "Are you guys ready?"
Frisk nodded happily and Sans gave you the thumbs up. Placing his hand on your shoulder and another atop Frisk's head, you watch as fine blue dust surrounded you. The hospital disappeared beyond a veil of blur and soon you stood amongst the hall. You stumbled slightly, but kept your footing as you looked around. "Memories~" You sang cheesily, making Frisk giggle.
You sat down against a pillar and looked at the grand stained glass windows, the colored shards coloring the already distracting hall floor. "God, these windows are beautiful." You mused. "I've never just sat to look at them."
"Well duh, you always got through here as fast as possible. You're suck at being patient." Frisk pointed out.
"Not true! I can't tell you how much patience it takes to watch you flirt with every monster in existence and watch from the sidelines."
"You flirted too!" Frisk said.
"Uh, no. I held meaningful conversation with maybe four people from zone to zone. You spoke to every single one." You smirked. "But at least they like you. Maybe after the barrier is open you can comb back through for anyone you missed."
"Yeah! And you can come with me and make some more friends!" He said excitedly. Your expression faltered, but you settled into a grin and nodded.
"Yeah. Maybe I will." You said gently.
"Hey Frisk," Sans chirped, interuptting the playful banter to call Frisk's attention. "You should probably rest up for now. You didn't sleep a wink in the time (Y/N) was under."
"Oh yeah! I need to be at my best to face Asgore and Flowey!" He chirped.
You smiled as Sans removed his fluffy jacket and handed it to Frisk. It was much too big for him, but he looked adorable as he shrank into it. With half of an hour, Frisk dozed off and you and Sans were left to silence.
Your eyes scaled the windows again and again. You sighed heavily, your heart feeling weighted by growing anxiety. "We're right here Sans." You whispered, not breaking your gaze to the window. "You know, it's funny. I think these windows were one of the last things I saw in the last run. I never realized how beautiful they are. I'm glad I'm getting to see them now."
Your heart twisted, thought of what Chara said muttering condolences in your thoughts. You could feel Sans eyes on you and he reached for your face. Wiping away a tear, you finally looked at him. Blue tears welled up in his own eyes and your laugh turned into a shaky chuckle. Sans wrapped you in a hug and you laughed through your tears. You looked at Frisk behind Sans and smiled. "You promise you'll take care of him right?" You muttered. "I'm going to tell him, before I go, that you didn't know I would do this. That this is as much news to you as it is to him."
"I don't think you should. Lying to him now just seems like insult to injury." He murmured, pushing you back so he smiled at you.
You shook your head and returned the grin. "No, I just don't want him to think you could've done something about it."
"He's going to try to reset." Sans said.
"He won't be able to." You replied frankly.
Sans raised a brow and you smirked. "I'm going to destroy the reset button." You said.
Sans eyes grew but you cut him off before you could speak. "I think it's time you finally got the last happy ending. You guys will be able to do it finally, become a part of the world of humans. You'll all be happy, and I can watch from where ever I end up. Death says I'll probably be salvaged so I can hope for the best."
Sans nodded. "Well, when are you gonna do it?" He asked.
"What, are you trying to rid of me or something?" You teased.
"What?! No! I just wanted to know because... well, the kid needs to be awake. I don't want it to be an in the night thing."
You nodded and smiled. "Well, I want to talk to Death one more time before I go. I'll rest for a bit. So should you. When Frisk wakes up I'll go when he's not looking."
Sans nodded. "Ya know, I think your the best damned thing to ever happen to the Underground." He said, his smile saddened by situation.
"Thanks Sans." You said. Curling up on your side, you closed your eyes and sighed. Soon black consumed your vision and golden blooms began to appear. One last time you turned around and looked at Death.
"Hi."
